RE: Tow Dolly Tire Wear

Big difference between radial and bias ply. Bias ply runs hotter and wears faster.

RE: Should be get new tires

If you get new tires check the manufacture date on them before you buy. Some "new" tires may have been sitting on the shelf for several years. Been there.

RE: Flat tire!

I desided a long time ago to get a bottle jack and all the tools to change a tire if I ever need to out on the road in the middle of no where. Looked around trying to find a lot profit bottle jack that would slide underneath the front I-beam axle when the tire went flat. Finally found what I needed a Tractor Supply. Took it home and tried it out. No problem. Also get yourself a long 1/2 drive breaker bar, and long 12" extension bar to reach into the nuts on the rear wheels. I'm now thinking that the hardest part of changing these heavy 19.5 tires is going to be getting the flat tire back up into the storage compactment. Haven't tried that yet.
Also get a piece of pipe to extend the breaker bar and give yourself something to jump on to break the lugnuts loose. I've found I needed a block to support the breaker end of the extension. A practice in the driveway makes me confidant that I can do it in the boonies, or, instruct some unwary volunteer.

RE: Tow dolly

Brakes on the car are a good idea so you can stop on the dolly rather than roll off the front.

RE: Walmart overnighting yes or no?

I have overnighted at WM some. Usually not a good night's sleep with the car without a muffler making a beer run at 2am, the street sweeper cleaning the lot about 3am, and the semi parking and idling next to me about 4 while he waited for the garden shop to open in the morning.

RE: tow dolly-too good a deal?

As long as we are on Q& A, what would be better a tow dolly or a trailer for towing? We are planning to switch from 5er to class A.
Do a lookup of past topics in dinghy towing. Most claim that the way they tow is the only and best way. there are advantages and disadvantages to 4 down, dolly, trailer.

RE: Wheel 1997 E350

Check your build date. My '97 has a '96 chassey. The '96 wheels have round holes in them. 8 holes if I remember right. I think the '97 and newer have 4 oval holes. Auto salvage yards have or can find them.
I totally agree on the need for a spare. I don't go further than I am willing to walk without one. A couple years ago I threw a tread on a Sunday afternoon. With a spare I had a short delay instead of a wait till Monday.

RE: Daylight Saving Time begins March 11, why

Allegedly Day light savings time saves energy but a study from Indiana, which was the most recent state to change to DST, found a slight increase in energy use with DST.
The real reason for DST is that it allows more daylight when most people have leisure time so they will spend more money on recreational activities.

RE: Loading a tow dolly without help?

Harbor Freight has a "magnetic trailer alignment kit" which consists of 2 telescoping rods, like a radio antenna, with a magnet on one end and a yellow ball on the other end. I put one on the dolly tong and the other centered on the front of the hood and just line them up when loading.

RE: Manually moving Tow Dolly after vehicle unloaded

I do not cover when storing while camping. The dolly is subject to rain and road grime when towed so I hope any rain will wash it. I store it under roof for the winter.

RE: Refueling Issues: Size Matters

With a 31' MH + toad there are many more times than not that I have had to pass up a good price on gas because I could not get in and or out without unhitching the toad. I have learned to look the situation over and plan an entrance and exit route before committing.

RE: Need to distroy a lot of paper work

If you got a place to dump it you might try a cement mixer and a hose. Turn it all back into paper pulp.

RE: Most poorly executed scam I've ever seen!

Just have em e-mail the check and you will e-mail the cash to the shipping co. Then the shipping co. can e-mail a truck to get the stuff. Just have them put a computer in the truck so you can e-mail the stuff into the truck and save your back from loading.
