RE: 2012 Montana 3700Rl Big Sky

Another recomendation to go to the MOC to ask about the Monatana. As for the F350...we have the 2011 F350 6.7 DRW and can't say enough good things about it - WHAT a truck and PULLING machine (ordered from factory with all the options we wanted on the Lariet - didn't like the lether in the King Ranch).

RE: Yellowstone in September

Another recommendation here for Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone. Great RV park for seeing Yellowstone NP.

RE: geocacheing

Been geocacheing for 4 years now. It's one of the main things we do when RVing.

RE: Do I need a bigger Truck

Yes you do. Good info give to you here. You need to look at your numbers on both your truck and trailer, and do not use the dry weights of the trailer. A new truck is always a good thing. Go big or stay at home, as they say. Good luck.

Effective date -- 1963 c 154: See note following RCW 46.37.010. I love my review camera when towing our 5er! And for the cops emergency response requirements: RCW 46.61.035 Authorized emergency vehicles. (1) The driver of an authorized emergency vehicle, when responding to an emergency call or when in the pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law or when responding to but not upon returning from a fire alarm, may exercise the privileges set forth in this section, but subject to the conditions herein stated. RE: new truck

I had a new 2006 F350 SRW 6.0 PSD and towed a 13800 lbs (weighed) 5er with it for 5 years and it did a great job, then traded it in for a 2011 F350 DRW 6.7PSD and tow the same 5er. What a diferance the DRW made in stability. As for the reason I traded the 6.0 in...all the issues the Ford 6.0 PSD had and the fact that I started to lose coolant from my degass bottle which is a sign of the EGR going bad. If the 6.0 PSD you are looking has an EGR delete kit then go for it, but if not I would look at somthing else. The 7.3 PSD is a great engine, and so far the 6.7 is an outsatnding powerfull engine.

RE: Dually or Single Rear Wheel for towing

For me, had a new 2006 SRW F350 to tow a 2007 15500lbs max 5er that is loaded for camping at 13800lbs. Towed with the 2006 F350 for 4 years and though it was a good combination. Then purchased 2011 DRW F350 and WHAT a difference in towing...much more stable ride. For me, I will only use a DRW from now on.

Only you can do the math. And without going to the scales and doing the math can your question be answered.

RE: Graphics Peeling off !

We had same problem with a 2007 Keystone Montana 3400RL last year. Went to the MOC form got the phone number to call (as Carl n Susan outlined) and received what we needed in the mail at no cost to us. Keystone will take care of it if you ask.

Pressure-Pro for us now for three years. Wouldn't leave home without them.

RE: Tow vehicle capability

Agree with the DRW advice: My experience; In 2006 we purchased a 2006 F350 SRW 6.0 PSD, and in 2007 we purchased a Montana 3400RL 38'.9" long with a GVWR of 15500 lbs but when loaded for travel is only 13000 lbs. Loved the combo and towed all over the Pacific NW (Cascade Mountains and Rockies of Idaho and Montana) with a vacation loaded weight of GCVW 20,920 lbs. This year we traded the SRW in and purchased a 2011 F350 DRW… Wow what a difference. The DRW has a much more stable ride (and I though the SRW was good) the new 6.7 engine has much more power (the 6.0 really had to work (foot mashed to the floorboards when going over the Mt passes), and the new 6.7 just pushes through without much work at all. With a SRW you will need to watch the pin weight. Our is 2311 lbs… Do not go by the dry weights they quote on the brochures. Go Big or stay at home. Good luck!

RE: Replacing G/Year Marathons with What? See P. 4

ExRocketScientist, I too am looking to replace tires for a 5er with 7K axles. I have been looking at replacing the STs with LTs. I have been considering the G614 tire but then reading here and doing other research on the subject I find the 17.5 inch wheel solution. But this will require new wheels and tires. You stated that you have priced out both solutions and that the cost was about the same for the initial changeover. You went on to say that one of the tires you are seriously considering is the load range F tire (215/75R17.5) made by Yokahama; and that FastEagle has done some research on this tire and is researching wheels to go with them -- I'm sure he would be willing to share his results. Please do share your info (prices, vendors, issues involved, etc…) so we that are not as knowledgeable can learn from your experience. Looking forward to your numbers and info. Thank you in advance. One disclaimer: I haven't switched to a 17.5 inch wheel -- I only have 5.2 K axles. I was curious though as to the cost difference between buying 16 inch wheels that would take the 110 PSI inflation pressure of the G614 and of course the G614 tires versus getting the 17.5 inch wheel and the Yokohama tire. I didn't actually record what I found, but since you asked, when I get home (or sometime this weekend), I will post some online sources for each solution and work up the numbers. I think if you do your homework like FastEagle does (and have his skill level in searching things out) you will probably be able to come up with better deals on any one of the four components, but for general comparison (we are talking ball park here), what I come up with should be illustrative. Looking forward to your next post with your info. Thanks!

RE: did you pay for a PDI?

You need to find a new dealer if that is not the way you were treated.

RE: did you pay for a PDI?

No way. It should be part of the dealer's job of closing the deal. I also did not pay in full until the rig passed the PDI. Only give them a down payment that you are willing to walk away from if they do not meet your expectations. You are the boss of the transaction because you are the customer.

RE: Route 14 or Route 16 from Cody, WY to Buffalo, WY

Checking the "Mountain Directory (West)" I would go Hwy 16 if it were me, but expect 7% grades for miles at a time, and be aware that this is open range and there are often cattle on the highway.
