RE: Does such a thing as a decent gasser exist?

Wonder why the OP is asking about a "decent class C rig" in the Class A forum??? If you are asking about Class A's, I own a 2007 Newmar Mountain Aire that I consider pretty decent, never been ashamed to drive it into a park and it is not falling apart in my hands.

RE: Newbie Visiting From Ireland

When you leave Glacier National Park going south, be sure to visit Yellowstone National Park, the "Crown Jewel" of the U.S. National Park Service. Plan on 3 to 4 days at Yellowstone.

RE: Park Place RV Park in Quartzsite AZ

Stayed there a few years back. As I recall, spaces were pretty close and not much room between RV's. Kind of a large parking area with hook ups. For a desert area, I guess it was OK, nothing special. Cold at night when the wind whips up the sand. After seeing the RV show for a couple days, were were ready to move on to someplace else.

RE: Road Side Assistance ,Any Recommendations?

I prefer Coach Net over Good Sam's. When I used Good Sam's a few years ago, they sent a wrecker and tire service for something the size of a passenger car. At that time, I had a 28 foot Class C. Had to wait on the side of the road for another 4 hours before a proper sized wrecker showed up. Original wrecker said that the Good Sam's dispatcher did not inform them of the size of my vehicle.

RE: water heater sacrificial anode

Just an update. After several days of hitting it with penetrating oil, I got out the impact wrench and set the air pressure on low and gave it a try. Low and behold it came out. Glad I got it out, anode was 3/4 gone.
Thanks for all the tips,
Larry

water heater sacrificial anode

One of the items that the original owner of my 07 Newmar never paid any attention to was the water heater sacrificial anode replacement, I have tried for two days to break it free. Put penetrating oil on it, got a breaker bar on the 1/2 inch wrench and it has not budged. I "assume" it is a normal thread to remove. I was thinking of getting out the impact wrench, but I really don't want to replace the entire water heater. Any words of advice?
Thanks,
Larry

RE: Fogged dual pane windows

I wonder why anyone would replace the glass when it is the seal between the two panes that is the issue. Glass can certainly be cleaned and reinstalled with new seals at a much more reasonable rate.

RE: Satelite TV

I have Direct TV in my rig and it about the size of a small DVD player. Weighs a couple of pounds. I think your installer picked up outdated equipment.

RE: Which rv should I buy

keep looking
X2, this is a buyers market out there, lots of good rigs that are newer and will require less upkeep.

RE: Temporary tags for an out of state move?

Well, I just had a long talk with the WV DMV. Bottom line, I have to pay the sales tax in WV. They do not do temporary tags on private sales, and do not do out of state one way trip permits and you can not transfer original tags (even though his registration is still good for several months). Not happy.
Oh, the seller would never go for something like renting. He just wants his money and I don't blame him.
Most states will honor the taxes paid to another state for vehicle registration. Call your home state DMV and see if they have a reciprocal agreement.

RE: Any Yellowstone campgrounds that AREN'T parking lots?

Not many folks to go Yellowstone for the camping. Just a place to stay while touring the park and all of it's attractions.
Grass is not a plant that is native to the mountains
I think you should spend very little time on where you park your RV and the grass at the site. Yellowstone is not a camping or RV destination. There is so much to see and explore that most folks get back to their RV, tent, cabin or hotel room, dead tired from the days hike, walk or drive. All of the campground in the Park are adequate for your time spent exploring the millions of acres there.

RE: Sales tax question -

We are residents of South Dakota and just purchased a motorhome in Calif. We had to take delivery out of Calif so that we didn't have to pay CA sales tax. The dealership arranged for a driver to take the rig into Arizona and we finished the paperwork there. We then faxed all our paperwork to SD and paid the tax there. Each state has different rules on out of state purchases so make sure you talk to someone at the dealership
X2, when we purchased an RV in CA, we went through the same process, CA issued a temporary tag, driver had to drive the rig out of state, in our case, AZ. When we got home to Texas, registered the RV and paid the taxes.

RE: Seven pin to a 4 pin

The motorhome I bought has a seven pin connection. My last motorhome and my current toad has a four pin setup. I have looked all over the net for a seven pin to a four pin round adapter, but have not found one. I found a new cable, but surely someone makes a plug in adapter that is cheaper than a new $70.00 cable. Any thoughts?
ThanksHow are you getting a signal to the toad brakes?
It's a Break Budy, actavated by inertia.

RE: Screen door protector

Plexiglas or something similar?
X2, a buddy of mine put clear Plexiglas on the bottom of his screen door to keep his four legged family from breaking out the screen. A couple of years and it is still working.

RE: Buying Class A, Older diesel unit, newer gas unit, need help

I had my heart set on a Newmar. I found a 37 Mountain Aire with a little less than 13,000 miles on it. I also found a 40 foot Newmar DP Mountain Aire with 11,000 miles on it. The DP was a year older, 07 vs an 06. The price difference was over $50,000. I just could not justify that much more money for 3 feet and a Cummins. I can buy a lot of gas for that amount of money and as I tend to trade RV every four of five years, the fact that the DP would still be just "broken in", really did not figure into the equation for me.

RE: Banks PowerPack Worth the money ?

I put a Banks system on my last class "C", a Ford V-10. Prior to the install, some grades in Colorado when I pulled my toad, I was down to 35 MPH. After the install, same toad, same grade, 50-55 MPH. Yes it is worth the money.

RE: toliet change

As a veteran of changing out one toilet, all I can say is that if you are lucky, you will have enough room to work on it and your arms will be long enough to reach the screws and or bolts and you have enough arms to hold everything together to bolt it down. The one I worked on had me laying in the shower, reaching over the shower ledge to the toilet area. It was not a fun day, but an RV place wanted 300 bucks to do the job. Halfway through the process, I was thinking 300 bucks sounded fair.
