I checked all the elbows and they seem tight(hand not wrench).Do you use a wrench on the elbow?

Removing shower for repairs Jayco 23 B

Hi All
During our camping trip last week, I noticed water dripping from under the trailer. After searching around I discovered it was coming from under the shower. All water pipes were dry no leaks I can see. What I did notice was that the tub sits on a wooden platform which has about 4" long legs. One of the legs sits over a hole in the floor which cut for the drain trap.
When I stand in the tub it flexes near the drain. I think the water maybe coming from there, I drilled a hole the floor to let the water out quicker.
So now i want to remove the Shower tub to repair what ever leak I find and to place a support under the one platform leg.
If I remove the plastic wall liners and then strip the caulking around the tub, will it come out or is there more to it? Taps are not connected to the tub.
Thanks
Theunis

RE: Did I make a mistake???

I haven't owned a diesel, i only know what i have read on this forum. If it is going to cost you to bullet proof your 6.0l then then that money can also be used to buy the Dodge. If it where me, and based on what I have read i would buy the Dodge.

RE: Arrogant

I used to build cargo hooks for Helicopters, we would test them at 3x their load capacity.20k hooks had to release at 60k,this was the safety margin, it does not mean an idiot pilot could load 40k on it.On one flight carrying an 8k load, the load the bounced and the load cell registered around 15k. This is the reason for safety margins.
Overloading your truck is taking away from the built in safety margins of the tires , axles, bearings, frame and all the hardware used to hold it together.

RE: Arrogant

Seeing as you think the truck can handle more then the manufactures GVWR, Why not find out the actual limits of your truck? Load it up until it can't move any more. Then you can tell us the True Max GVWR of the truck.

RE: Who makes the best all around TV, (pick-up)

My half ton tows my 5000# trailer with no problems.I am not brand loyal I buy what suits my needs.
The thing to look for when buying a half ton is the payload. There is a yellow tread sticker in the inside of the door,on there it displays the actual cargo capacity of the truck(all Brands). Find the one with the highest cargo capacity.
My truck has a 1600# cargo capacity and 4.10 axel Ratio,I have seen Tundras with 1350# and Fords with 1050#, Dodges and chevys with low capacities too. So be sure to check cargo capacity(payload) and must have tow package.

RE: Dw upset

This is the reason I don't post much here.I have read so many posts here ,where someone who doesn't know asks a question and is vilified.
I had the same issues as you and had it taken care of by the dealer, yes your issues are minor but you shouldn't have to take it.When people stop accepting poor quality and workmanship then maybe things will get better.
Congrats on the trailer

RE: Tow Vehicle Tire Purchase

I bought Kumho road venture sat KL61 tires for my tv. 265/70R 17 113s 60k mile warranty. i picked these tires because it is a P rated tire that can be inflated to 51 psi. Most other P tires only inflate to 44psi.it has a tread wear rating just under Michellins and higher than most, also it is rated for extreme snow meaning it is rated the same as a snow tire.Cheaper then Michellins too.
I have had them on for a month now and they run very smooth and quite. Will be re-placing my other cars tires with Kumhos also.
My trailer weight is 50000lbs GVW

RE: Hybrid models that work well when turtled

The jayco 23b has the U-shape dinnette across the width of the trailer(approx7ft) making it long enough for you to sleep on.
The couch is in the slide and is also over 6ft long between the arms.I am 6ft tall and can stretch out on both. The couch is a small double(or large single) and the dinette is large. With the slide out there is a lot of floor space for an air mattress or camp cot. It has a GVWR of 5000lbs.

RE: Tow in AWD or 2WD

There was a problem with the GM trucks and running in the Auto or 4X4 Mode for long periods of time.
This is Part of a GM service Information Doc. SEP 16th 2008
"#PIP 4146B: Bearing or metallic Grinding sound while operating in Auto'4Hi or 4Lo mode- Keywords Grind'Growl 'Noise.
Condition/Concern
The transfer case noise maybe caused by an Apply Plate Bearing Failure. As Pressure gets applied to the clutch pack the apply plate bearing gets loaded.Continuous operation in either Auto or 4WD shortens the life of the bearing. "
I was told that the bearing used was not for continuous use.

RE: In tank Fuel filter

Hi,
the in the tank filter is more of a sock, that prevents large particles from clogging the impeller, while the fuel filter on the chassis is desigend to be replaced every 15000 miles or so, and will strain out the tiny particals that might clog a fuel injector.
Think of the sock in the tank like window screen mesh. It should have 1/8" holes in it, so no it will not get clogged, and sloshing around gasoline in the tank should wash away any particals, just like if you take it and shake the screen sock out in a solivent tank. Gasoline moving around the fuel pump, as you turn corners and hit the brakes should rinse out the fuel sock every hour you drive. Only if you buy the cheapest fuels, and they are not stored in fiberglass tanks (mandatory in the United States) will you get anything bad into your fuel tank, that could plug it.
Fred.
According to GM my truck does not have an in line filter only the one in the tank. From a certain year they stopped in line filters(so I was Told)I did check the chassis of my truck and could not find one.

RE: In tank Fuel filter

update: got a quote to replace valance on my truck $272cnd and yamaha gave me cash, they said the old guy is going to cover all costs for repair.
Has anyone put in an in line filter in their truck which has an in tank filter? Will the sock and an in line filter restrict fuel flow?.

I guess he bought the motorcycle, and you a new bumper piece.
No he didn't buy the bike(was about 80yrs old and I had to pick him up off the drive way) and Yamaha insurance will repair the bumper.

RE: In tank Fuel filter

I was told an in line filter is worse for clogging but I think it would be better because then I can change it at more frequent intervals.

In tank Fuel filter

Just had my trucks 100 000km service done and was told that it has an in tank fuel filter(sock) which never needs to be replaced.
Gm service tech said they have had no problems with these socks clogging.
Any thoughts.
As a side note, while typing this I saw a motor cycle rider drive straight into the front of my truck. He got the front wheel stuck under my bumper. We had to jack up the truck to get it out.No injuries and only damage to my truck was the plastic spoiler under the bumper, part of it got ripped from the bumper. The bike received some damage leaking break fluid and broken mud guard.
I am at work and my shop is next to a Yamaha dealer.Guy was test driving a new bike.
