RE: Nissan Armada Towing MPG

With my Titan I average 8-8.5 MPG with the TT in my signature. Seen as low as 7 and as high as 9.5. I'd hate to hit a 15-20 MPH headwind, though.

RE: Need a place to stop in the NY fingerlakes area

Plenty of great state parks in the area. For private campgrounds, Hickory Hill in Bath, and the Watkins Glen KOA are very nice.

RE: Best route Bryce Canyon to Fishing Bridge Yellowstone

We went up through Salt Lake City and in the west entrance. You could also do a similar route, but go through Jackson, WY and in the south entrance. Plenty of things to do around SLC and Jackson/Grand Teton area.

RE: Covering your Power Tongue Jack

My Barker Super Jack is 7 years old, never been covered. A little faded, but that's it. But, I haven't tried to use it this season yet!

RE: KZ-Spree Issues

Another issue is the A/C isn't big enough for the camper and the A/C vent locations are really goofy, two in the main living area within 3' of each other and two in the bunk area right above the top bunk on the right side about 2' apart. Insulation package is minimal, they don't offer a heavier insulation package so now I can hear the people outside my camper and I'm sure they can hear me talk using a normal voice. Our 09 318BHS suffers from the undersized A/C and poor vent layout. 13.5K BTUs isn't enough for a 32ft TT with 2 slides. Should come from the factory with 15K BTU. Upgrading the A/C is $800 at this point. May still not fix the issue. I did add larger vents that actually close. Also, added to extra vents in the main living area. See the link below: AC Vent Mod The R7 insulation in the roof isn't enough. I've considered loosening up my ceiling panels to add more insulation. Also, be careful of the clear skylight over the tub. Turns the bathroom into a greenhouse on a sunny day. I cover mine with Reflectrix to block the light and heat. I also added ceiling vent pillows to block the light and heat. I've considered getting a portable household AC unit, something in the 5K-8K BTU range for $200-$300. Then, I would find some way to vent it outside. Get with your dealer to see if they will upgrade the A/C for the difference in cost. It's worth a shot.

RE: Waterfalls Campsite, Middleburg NY

Thanks for the replies. Hideaway looks like a decent option, although I would prefer full hook-ups given the DW's and DD's ability to fill up the gray water tanks in about 2 days. I could always take the tote-tank with me, if needed. Does anyone know how close Locust Park Campground is to I-88?

Waterfalls Campsite, Middleburg NY

Anyone stay at this campground recently? Only found a single 3 year old review on RV Park Reviews. Although it was rated a 10, the review seemed a bit overdone. Not much in they way of a website either. My daughter is attending a camp at SUNY Cobleskill for a week and we were looking for a nearby place to stay. This one is about 15 miles away. Found other places in the northern Catskills and near Cooperstown, but they are 30+ miles away. When making 2 round trips a day, that gets a little old.

RE: Spic & Span plus Bleach for Roof Cleaning?

I contacted one of the rubber roof manufacturers (Alpha Systems?) a few years ago and they indicated that using bleach was okay. I was having issues with mildew stains and their recommended cleaner (Murphy's Oil Soap) wasn't cutting it. I use it diluted with another cleaner and water when I run into staining problems. Interestingly, they said not to use Spic and Span powder since it could scratch the membrane. Sounds like different manufacturers can have conflicting cleaning recommendations.

RE: The New/Next Generation Nissan Titan

I'd have a better chance finding a unicorn wandering the local forest than a Titan on the roads. In my 10 mile round trip commute every day out in the sticks, I see at least one Titan:). On a recent 1500 mile roadtrip, I was surprised how many I saw, especially in the Big 3 bastion of MI and OH. Starting in about 2008, Nissan gave up on Titan advertising. When I got mine in 2007, it had the most features and best powertrain for the price. Yes, it's quite a bit long in the tooth now. The killing of the Ram-based Titan follow-on is the reason for that. As far as the replacement goes, all I've heard is more engine, cab, and bed combinations will be available. Possible V-6 or small V-8 and regular cab will be available. Now, the 5.6L V-8 will likely get the updates that the Infinity version now has - 400 HP, 400 ft-lbs torque, 7 speed tranny, and a 2-3 MPG boost over the current Titan. Probably won't see anything until the 2014 model year, hopefully that means mid 2013.

RE: Question for those around Syracuse, NY.

I've done both. On the past few trips though SYR, I've just stayed on I-81. Haven't had any problems.

RE: Shortest Bunkhouse w/ Queen Bed

The Rockwood 1905 or 2306 are two of the smallest that I know of. No slides, though.

RE: Campground Near State College, PA

Thanks for the info everyone. The state parks are a "no-go" since they don't have full hookups. I was originally thinking the KOA, but the reviews frequently mention how narrow the sites are. With 2 slide-outs, that's likely a problem. I'll have to look into Fort Bellefonte and Seven Mountains.

Campground Near State College, PA

My daughter will be attending a one week camp at Penn State this summer and I was looking for some nearby campground recommendations, something with full hookups. There's the KOA just north, but a bit pricey. Also, a place in Lewistown, but a bit more of a drive twice a day.

RE: Chocolate Moose

I was saddened to hear this. It's been on our "must visit" list since we first heard about it a couple of years ago. They had some very ambitious plans for a great family campground. But, without some serious financial backing, it would be difficult to pull off.

RE: Route planning from Central NY to Disney

It is actually shorter to stay on I-81 to I-77 and I-26, then get back on I-95 in South Carolina than taking I-66 and US 17. US 17 is getting more traffic and stoplights as you near I-95. X3

RE: Avion.....Tempting me

My Grandparent's had a '78 Avion, 28 footer IIRC. Built better that any TT I've seen since then. If I had the time and resources for a little project, I wouldn't mind having one. It's a shame Fleetwood killed off the brand.

RE: Association Island, NY

KOA must be busy. I've noticed a couple of other previously independent campgrounds that we have visited in recent years are now KOAs. I don't know if that's good or bad yet. Rates will probably go up a bit.

RE: Most uncomfortable dinette cushions, ever!

The dinette cushions in our TT are too soft as well. Not much better than just sitting on the wood underneath. Not very comfortable for more than 15 min or so. Still planning on upgrading the foam at some point.

RE: Flat Panel TV's Stored Over Winter

Most LCD TVs I've seen have a minimum storage temperature of around 0 deg F. Some might be a bit lower. These things are shipped all over the place in unheated trailers in the winter. I'm sure some get below 0 for a while.

50 ft of Eternabond Equals ...

3 roof vents 1 skylight 1 fridge vent 1 front cap seam That was with the 4" wide variety. Just taped over the existing Dicor after cleaning everything up. Still got to do the 3 plumbing vents, TV antenna, and radio antenna. That will be next spring's job.
