RE: Permanently wired shore power line?

Mine is permanently attached to a power cord retractor/deployer. It feed thru a 5" hole with cap in the compartment floor. Press the button for out, press it again to retract it. Makes hookups a pleasure......Dennis

RE: Summer trip, any comments or recommendations?

Grand Canyon: Trailer Village..plan on two days minimum. Use the trolleys.
4 Corners: KOA in Holbrook and take day trips to: Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, 4 Corners...another 2 days.
Tulsa: Enjoy your family time.
Rapid City: So much to do there. Stay at Rafter Bar J. View Mt. Rushmore during the day but make sure you attend the lighting ceremony at night. Custer State Park for the buffalo. Bear Country: Driving tour through bear country. worthwhile. Black Hills, Devil's Tower, Wall Drug (a waste IMHO) Badlands, (another driving tour but you can stop and hike the hills).1880s Train ride...Lots to do, not much time......Dennis

RE: The 96 Monaco Exec I want to buy has Aged Out Tires...

I guess I would have to disagree with the naysayers etc. IMHO, and take that for what it's worth, the 96 Executives are a quality coach. If you like the coach, and obviously you do, have an adult conversation with the seller. Explain to him one tire needs to be replaced, (the one with the crack). This should be obvious to him. Also, print out the advisement from Michelin about tires at 10yrs. Discuss the tire situation and see if you can reach a deal. You do not have a deal until the papers are signed. Whatever negotiations went on before today are simply that, negotiations. If you both were satisfied with your previous negotiations, then you would have had a contract signed. No deal is done until the final signature is placed on the dotted line. All this said, if the coach is everything you want and you can afford it, buy it regardless of the tire situation. Just know that a set of 6 290/80/22.5 will set you back about $3900 out the door....your money, you decide....be sure to let us know how you make out....(fingers crossed)......Dennis

RE: Electrical problems....? 99 monaco

First and easiest thing to do is take OFF the battery cables, clean them, lube them and REINSTALL them. Take a meter reading to make sure all batteries are fully charged. My guess is you have a bad connection on one of the batteries. Oftentimes a bad connection cannot be seen. The other issue is your maintainer may not be working correctly so your batteries are not receiving a charge while you're hooked up.....Dennis

RE: Help!!!!!! No power

Step 1. Pedestal breaker ON..:h Turn OFF then back ON.
Step 2. Using a meter, is there POWER coming FROM the pedestal..:h
Step 3. Plug in your power cord. Measure at coach end. Do you have power...:h
Step 4. Fire up genset. Do you have power with genset running...:h
Assuming you performed all four steps and your answers were yes...go to step 5.
Step 5. Check breakers on inverter. Should be one, possibly 2. These are very small button types that are simply pushed in to reset.
Step 6. Check all breakers in your breaker panel. Don't simply look at them, turn each OFF then back ON.
Step 7. Locate ALL gfci breakers. Should be one for the kitchen, one for the bath(s) and possibly one in a storage compartment. May also be one in the refrigerator compartment accessible through the outside inspection door. Reset each one.
I would suspect your problem is related to one of the GFCI circuits. It's important for everyone to know how many and locations of each for their specific coach. It makes trouble shooting so much easier. I carry a spare for that occasion when one of mine is going to fail....good luck...be sure to post a solution when you find it.....Dennis

RE: Hunting For RV Spots in Big Sur, CA

None of the State Parks in Big Sur accept the bigger rigs. Most of their interior roads are not wide enough for the swing. We were told they had big enough sites but the ranger laughed when we pulled up. Ever tried backing 1/8 mile uphill then having your DW stand out on Hwy 1 to stop traffic so you can exit...not fun..also, make sure your rig is UNDER 40' as the CHP has been patrolling that stretch pretty well.it is a restricted roadway..could be an expensive trip.....good luck.....Dennis

RE: GA - Told to vacate RV park because of dog

Thanks for the update bmbsqd...hope it turns out ok for you. You seem to like the park in spite of the issue at hand. That said, it appears this thread has now become one of what exactly defines "Attended vs Unattended". Some seem to feel attended and unattended are the same. Perhaps, as SDcampowneroperater stated, the "rules" should be modified to read "leash and control". Personally, I have always believed unattended meant out of my sight. Attended meant in my sight. IMHO, dog outside, me inside = unattended.....Dennis

RE: leveler problem fixed on my own

Another reason why yearly maintenance should include tightening every nut, bolt and screw you can find....never seen a study done, but it would be interesting to find out how many "issues" were fixed simply by tightening up a ground screw.....glad you fixed it yourself...doesn't self sufficiency feel good....:h....Dennis

RE: Dish Network only one LNB not getting my whole package

Dennis, I beieve with the crankup dish, due to it size will not work to with multi- LNBS. To use more than one LNB you need a bigger dish to get good signal.
That's what I thought too, but an installer said the round dish will work but to change the settings on the box to the Slimline dish. That's what I did and it worked!!.....just my experience, YMMV....Dennis
