RE: Fish/aquarium?

There are also slow release feeding tablets. That is what we use and we leave the fish at home.

RE: I am saying!

We may have found the magic button! I think this is the first time I've seen 10 pages of chat without it getting ugly at some point - must be all the use of "just saying" :-)

RE: I am saying!

Isn't 'I'm just saying' the same as 'just my opinion' or JMO/JMHO?
I think you're right! I've seen some pretty rude things followed by JMO as well. I think some people use it so that others don't get all fire up.....

Leba 111 Dental spray. Google it, it's amazing stuff! We use it with our little dogs and it keeps their teeth clean and their breath fresh :-)

RE: How many forum members run agility with their dogs?

We compete in agility too!! Lucy is running at the masters level. I wish I could post pictures (I've tried lots of times to do it) because I've got some great ones :-)
Love to camp at the trials!

RE: A valid reason for unhooking from TV upon arrival at camp

hmmmmmmm.....I was in a hurry to get to the hospital because......let's see....
my wife hit the ground and landed wrong...said, 'call 911...i think i broke my back (she was right)...and went off in an ambulance for a 25 mile ride to the closest hospital...strapped to the stretcher with a neck collar and tied down with tape everywhere...and i'm thinkin' she might be paralyzed....
i GUESS that's a good enough reason to high-tail it to the hospital...whaddayathink?
Unless you are her doctor I can't see where 20 minutes is going to make a difference. If it was life threatening I'd be in the ambulance with my wife and worry about my car or truck later.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?:S I guess some of us actually love our wives.
I'm afraid I agree with the 20 minutes not making any difference. The emergency workers need space and time to work and so usually you find yourself just racing to a waiting room....

RE: Adding a new addition

I was going to say that you should consider agility as both those breeds tend to do quite well in the sport! Agility is also a great way to help a rescue dog become a family member and learn to trust you.

RE: Scamp vs Casita or ?

Yes good point, two halves are fiberglassed together have leaked in the past. Escape posted a note where a S&S screwed through the two halves was leaking. Which then rots the wood mount.
Was it kamperbob who posted the photos of the scamp where the two halves (fiberglassed) came unbonded, then leaked. Whoever it was used gorilla glue to fill in the leak after ripping out the wall covering that hid the leak.
Every once in a while you'll get a problem in even the best of trailers. Escape may have had a build problem but by your own post it appears that they admitted it and let others know how to protect themselves.

RE: Scamp vs Casita or ?

...The only holes in the fiberglass shell are to add the windows, vents and door....
This Myth gets perpetuated over and over again. The awning plate is drilled then riveted the awning length to the shell along the top roof. and has bolts on each end. Also Has bolts at the bottom mounts. The middle seam is screwed all the way around. Vents and covers are First drilled they riveted around the Perimeter ETC.
Ahh yes, i forgot about the awning.... oh yes...door hinges too... that said, the two halves are fiberglassed together and you are MUCH less likely to have a leak problem in a true fiberglass trailer. The overall quality is superior and they are made to last.

RE: Scamp vs Casita or ?

We also have an Escape. We molded fiberglass trailer owners tend to be pretty loyal to our brand and I'm no exception. I could hang off the cabnetry, it's that solid. The only holes in the fiberglass shell are to add the windows, vents and door. These are very well planned and built trailers. We have camped heavily for 5 seasons - February - October and the trailer still looks new. They are certainly worth looking at if you're looking for a small sturdy trailer.

RE: What do you think about the TAB Trailer?

We tried an R-Pod and only lasted 3 trips in it. We were totally claustrophobic in it. The "shoilet" was a pain, too. If it was the only way I could camp, I guess I'd suck it up and do it, but otherwise, no.
That is what turns me off on the Casita and other fiberglass trailers. Having the commode in the bathtub just was way too cramped to be pleasant at all. Even though I do like the fiberglass construction, I'd much rather have a stick/tin camper that is actually not unpleasant to do one's business in.
Are you serious? The commode is in the bathtub??? Does anyone have a pic of this set up?
I'm with you, I want to see the picture. I own one of these trailers and it doesn't have a bathtub that I've found.... was hoping someone would post the picture so I would know where to look!
as to why I would want a small pricey molded fiberglass trailer.... no leaks, less maintenance, no sway bars etc... just drop on the ball and you're off camping. Kinda like why people like MAC computers :-)

RE: Ebooks for Solo Travel

Hi Amy,
If you haven't already found them there is an RV group called RVing Women. They have chapters all over the US and meet up regularly. They can be a fountain of information for a woman traveling alone.

RE: Pots & Pans

we have non-stick fry pans and regular pots. We don't nest the non-stick because the constant vibration and bounce can ruin the non-stick surface when one rubs against the other. We do the opposite of nesting and put the smallest on the bottom.

RE: What DON'T you use??

We have an outside plug that I think we might have used once.... and we have never used the cable hook up, we haven't yet installed a TV, but at the time our trailer was ordered we thought we might so we had the cable line installed. oh... and the 12 volt plug inside the trailer - we've never used that either.

RE: small dog stroller bicycle trailer combo

We have a Burly bike trailer for our dogs. It also has a wheel attachment for the front and a handle attachment on the back so that it can be used as a dog stroller as well. Folds flat and has a firm bottom, which we've put a pad on for additional comfort. You can google Burly bike trailers and see the various makes and sizes. It was not cheap but seems to have been well made.

RE: plea to all dog owners!

camping is a family oriented activity.
Actually... no it isn't. There are all kinds of campers. The problem begins when we don't respect the "camping style" of others. The first step to being a good camping neighbor is to realize that everyone is different and not everyone is going to be OK with your "style".
So do what you can to minimize the impact of.... your dogs, kids, diesel engine, generator, music, lights, wind chimes, etc... so that everyone can meet their expectations and have a good time :-)

RE: plea to all dog owners!

A couple of weekends ago we were camping with our three dogs. The first morning I overheard the woman from the campsite kitty-corner from us telling someone that if they heard her dogs bark there was something seriously wrong because her dogs don't bark. Damn, I thought. We are certainly after our dogs the minute we hear a whimper or growl but they occasionally sneak out a couple of barks before we can stop them. Our camping is for the dogs, so we aren't about to leave them home, but we know that everyone doesn't like dogs.
Anyway.... within the hour I heard her dogs barking and quickly went to see if anything was wrong. Nothing was and by the end of the weekend I surmised that she just didn't hear her dogs barking. I was relived to hear her dogs barking several times a day and certainly more than ours and longer too :-)
