RE: Problems with Good Sam ERS

When we had GS, we had to wait long time for service too. They could not find the town we were broke down. Needed a tow. By the way this was just our SUV that quit. This town was not a little wide place in the road but a big enough town it is on the map and established. But they could not find it. Finally our SUV started and limped back. Took it to a garage and had to have new computer installed.
We have Coach net now.

RE: Stackable vs. combo washer dryer

I have the stack units and would not want a combo. Several friends who have had combos were not happy with them after awhile.
I have had a stack Kenmore and loved it. Now have stack Whirlpool washer and dryer and they are bigger. More like apartment size. My dryer is
220 so dries quick like home dryers..Very happy with it.
If you are worried about storage space, then you are carrying too much stuff.

RE: Was not aware that RV factory workers paid piecemeal v. hourly

Some brands do have quality control. I know a Indiana manufacturer that inspected each unit on completion and put a strip of red tape on everything that needed attention to fix. Everything was fixed before it left the lot.
In all things.... you get what you pay for. More expensive units, they build less of them in a day.
So which do you think gets the most attention to detail.

RE: Finest Fiver made?

The best trailer will not be the best for you if the floor plan will not work for the 2 of you. Floor plan is very important. Also what amenities you can get with it. Some will not put in a washer and dryer and only put it in the bedroom! Bad idea my opinion. Many now are putting them in the hall way side by side which is better. Some floor plans will only allow for the all in one washing machine like the Splende. Not for me! too slow too small loads, Can only do one load at a time. With a stack or side by side unit you can dry a load while another load is washing.
Another goodie is some brands will not put in a dishwasher. New mar 5th wheels told me they would not. So we crossed them off our list. New Horizon will and maybe Mobile Suites.
You may not think these things are important but think of carrying your laundry through the rain or cold to the laundry room. You never know what was washed in those machines before you put your clothing in.
Also I use my dishwasher every day. It keeps the sink clear of dirty dishes and when the dishwasher is full I run a load. Washes great and would not want to do without it. It also heats and sterilizes the dishes.
If you say you need storage instead.... then you have too much stuff with you. :)
We are full timers for almost 4 years.

RE: Fifth wheel hitch failure

After 10 years of pulling 4 different 5th wheels, we had the experience of the bedsaver saving our pickup bed and damage to our trailer. One time it was a new hitch and it locked a little different that the previous one. Another time the bar was not fastened and it would have fallen if not for the bedsaver.
Let nothing distract when hitching or unhitching. No one is perfect! Don't say it can not happen to you!

RE: Do folks actually carry passengers in their fifth-wheels?

Would never put anything we care about in the 5th or a trailer while going down the road. Looking at one that has been in a minor accident should keep anyone from doing this or even thinking of doing this.
It is legal in some states and illegal in some states.
Foolish in all states.

RE: Haylie's cancer is back

I am so sorry. Cherish each day you have with her. Make her happy the time she has.
We also have a Schnauzer who has been battling cancer. She is doing Ok now, but it may come back someday.
You and your doggie are in our thoughts.

RE: New update on Bonnie With Pictures on second page

Thanks for everyone's encouragment and well wishes.
She has done very well through all of this. Still feels like playing and is alert. Eats well. Has not lost any weight is at a healthy weight. Both of our dogs are at healthy weights. They get a measured amount of dog food every day and very little treats.
Here is a pix of Bonnie, took a week ago. So can see she looks really good.... all she has been through.

RE: Confused, can anyone help?

It would be better if you had everything in one state. Less complicated.
If you ever get stopped for something, it could be confusing to a police officer.
If you register in Livingston Texas, (and join Escapees) your plates will be much less than some places. You don't have to have your vehicle inspected unless you plan on spending a lot of time in Texas. Our SUV has never been in Texas and has Texas plates every year. Also some of the small towns in Texas will do this.
Don't try Dallas or Houston or you may have to have smog testing and all.
Our truck was inspected in Texas and took about 10 minutes. Never has been inspected since and we get our plates by mail.

We also bought leather lazy boy recliners. Backs come off for loading.
Sometime they are on sale at a very good price. We bought ours in the late summer or early fall on sale.

RE: Electric or Propane Heat?

We use both. Using the heat pump most of the time, sometime furnace and of course the fireplaces. We have two, one in bedroom and one in livingroom.
Our heat pump will heat great but if it gets down to a certain temperature, the furnace will kick on and the heat pump will kick off.
Works for us.
Also those Eden pure electric heaters are great for heating and supposed to heat on the cheap. Want to get one someday but they are expensive to buy.

Agree with all of the above.
We are full timers for almost 4 years and have been RVing for about 10 years. Have not slept in a hotel for 10 years and love our 5th wheel.

RE: New update on Bonnie With Pictures on second page

Thanks for everyone's support.
It has been a long battle. Took her to 19 radiation treatments. Going every day with weekends off. Trip was 50 miles round trip to the specialist center. But it worked.
We camp out all the time. We are full-timers for almost 4 years. Had Bonnie's treatment in AZ while wintering here this season.
AZ has a very good specialist pet clinic. All specialist for anything effecting our pets. They are wonderful, kind and caring.

New update on Bonnie With Pictures on second page

New update on Bonnie our Schnauzer. I posted about her cancer. She had 19 radiation treatments and is finished with that. They did surgery, Jan 5th, to remove some small links of cancer running out from the old tumor, the radiation didn't reach. Also did some corrective surgery to her muzzle, where the radiation killed the hair roots and left a bump. The surgery was successful. She gets her stitches out Monday. Will look great after this and will have Schnauzer beard hair on her muzzle and will look like her old self.
She will go on a light chemo pill in a week or two for any micro cancer cells if there are any they did not see.
I would love her if she didn't have any hair on her muzzle!
She is doing great! :)

RE: Crossing the border into the US?

Why do people that want to enter the US have to be treated like dogs or criminals anyway?
To be honest: I'm happy to read here that they're doing it to their own citizens as well and not only to visitors from abroad.
Remember 911?

RE: Thanks for Saving Me $ on TP

Been RVing for over 10 years with 4 different 5th wheels and never have used the camping toilet paper. Use Angel Soft 2 ply. Always use 2 ply.
Almost any kind will do, but would not use really heavy thick brands.
Waste of money to buy the camping toilet paper or any kind suggested use in campers.
Never had a problem in over 10 years using Angel Soft.
