RE: GPS recommendations

I use Mapsource from Garmin to plot my trips. Once I have a trip plotted I view the routes in Google Earth. MapSource has a drop down to access Google Earth and load the MapSource Routes. I can than see all the roads and way points. If I see something I don't like in Google Earth I make changes in MapSource. Once all is OK I transfer the information to my Garmin. When you purchase a Garman device make sure it is one that can store routes and it is one with lifetime map updates.

RE: Replacing sealant around pass thru storage door

Yes butyl tape would be the thing to use. After you tighten the door enough you will see some of the tape ooze out use a plastic knife to clean up the ooze.

RE: Class C buildup w/modification

You might want to look at this series of videos. They show a rebuild of a trailer but the same issues are found in all RV's.

RE: GPS Frustration

With the Garmin product, I use Mapsource as a routing aid. I create waypoints in Mapsource to detour around cities or to detour specific roads. After I create the Mapsource map I save it as a "Route" then transfer it into the Garmin GPS receiver. In the Garmin I open "My Data" and select the route.
I too use a Garmin and the Garmin Mapsource program to create a routes. I do one more step, Mapsource will open and load your routes in Google Earth. You can view your routes in Google Earth. That way you can see the route you are taking and you can zoom in for a closer look at any area that might be a problem. If you need to avoid a area go back to Mapsource put in waypoints to miss the area.

RE: Follow up question to Florida state parks

Yes you can only stay 14 days in the State Parks.
For a 28 day stay:
The first 14 days your wife is registered for the site. The second 14 days you are registered for the site.

RE: What do you allthink about this tire for a 5th wheel?

I don't have personal knowledge of that tire but do think I have heard good things about the tire. All I do know is keep away from tires made in China. Here are the tires I put on my RV two years ago and they are doing fine.

RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C

That radiant floor heat pad is a good idea. I think I saw someplace where it was installed in a top of the line Class A. It was one of their selling points. All you need to operate it is 110ac.

I saw this new P Trap and it does not require water. This might be the fix you need.

RE: Montana or Cedar Creek?

I have a Mountaineer that is made by Keystone and it is a step down from the Montana. It is a 2006 and it has been good to me. It doesn't have all the fancy trim work of the Montana but it has the same floor plans and structure of the Montana.

RE: cheimical balance of tires

I don't know of any liquid that is put into a tire. I do know that the some of the flat repair spray cans will damage the rims.
I have seen this stuff. At least it is dry.

I use this and it does help.
RV Digest-It
You can find this or the one for septic systems at a ACE hardware store. I was told they are both about the same product.
Or if you really want them to read correct you can replace them with these.

RE: Landing Gear Manuf. Manual

Yes you can call Keystone and if you give them your VIN number on the RV they can tell you what parts were used in the build on the RV.

RE: Trailer Troubles

The losing of a wheel can be caused be the lug nuts being too loose. I know you have to check them before each trip and about putting on a wheel you need to check them after fifty (50) miles, then after one hundred (100) miles. I also have found the you need a torque wrench to check them don't do it with an air wrench. This holds true when putting a wheel on.

RE: What kind of Travel trailer should we get?

Here is link to the Keystone site. Keystone Site
I have a RV made by Keystone and so far it has been very good. I am sure if a dealer could make a sale he would get the RV you want. Also you might be able to get dealer information from the Keystone site.

The seal is not wax it is rubber. I think you need to check the vents to make sure they are not blocked. If the vent is not working correct you will get smells.

RE: Finally home

Don't feel bad that can happen to anyone. I have found that the color on the handle can vary from place to place. You have to look on the pump itself and make sure you are about to pump diesel fuel.

RE: Got another question

Never leave drain valves open and dump them when fairly full....black first then grey to flush drain line and hose.
Use lots of water in toilet when flushing solids/toilet paper so that it is carried down/across tank.
Add 3-5 gallons water back into black tank (I do the grey tank also) so any solids don't dry/stick to bottom of tank and drain valve seals don't dry out.
As for chemicals...we full time and use 1 part hydrogen and 2 parts oxygen.
No residue, fairly cheap and available just about everywhere.
Water is your friend.........
I second this!
Also check out these links. They can help in you picking a method.
