RE: 454 TBI DTC code 36

The information I have for a code 36 refers to "idle speed control actuator fault". What is the specific information you have related to code 36? If you are chasing the wrong code description you will never find the problem. I looked up a 1995 gmc 1 ton van with 454 tbi, should have the same diagnostic codes and flow charts as the p30.

RE: Adaptive Strategy learns while you drive

I would not clear the computer memory. The computer continually learns and builds its strategy in areas that may and may not be affected by the driver. If you clear the computer memory, this will all have to be relearned. If you just drive it normally, it will adjust to your habits just as quickly without starting from scratch.

RE: Need new bay door spring lift

Most auto parts stores have an assortment to pick from based on the length and the mount.

RE: winni 32 journey with cat 300

According to the Winnebago web site the 32 foot Journey did not come with a Cat engine. It was only available with the 5.9 Cummings which came standard with the 5 speed transmission and a 5000 lb hitch. If it had the optional 6 speed transmission, that came with a 10000 lb hitch. You can look up any year and model here.

RE: When to use Inverter

I run mine all the time until plugged into shore power. The only thing I do is put the refrigerator on LP instead of auto so that the batteries are not running the frige.

RE: Shifting toad transfer case from neutral to 2H

I have a 2008 wrangler and what I find that works for me is to start the engine with the trans in neutral and the transfer case in neutral. I then shut the engine OFF and shift the transfer case into 2H and then the trans into park. Works every time.

RE: Should I be worried

Sounds like alignment is out. Should be fine to drive to repair shop and have alignment done. You can have the tires evaluated at that time. Maybe rotate to the rear would get more life out of the tires.

RE: Atwood Water Heater drain plug twisted off

Make sure you replace the plug with the same type. I tried a brass plug this year and it dripped all summer. I also used teflon tape which made no difference. I will go back to plastic plug next season.

RE: FIRST TIME RV'er traveling to PA

I would avoid both if possible without adding to much time to my trip. If the choice is between GW or Tappenzee, I go Tappenzee every time. George Washington bridge has been a rought ride both times I have tried that route, and traffic very heavy.

RE: Tow Dolly Straps

Don't forget to get a strap or chain to rig up as a saftey from some point on the car frame to the tow dolly. I pulled into a rest area once and found the car was only held on by one wheel strap. We went over a very rough section of 95. The other strap was laying on the tow dolly. I did have a third strap through the frame and hooked to the tow dolly.

RE: System Aired Up, Bags Will Not Pump Up

Try hitting the dump switch for the air bags and then hit the store button. Maybe the valve is sticking.

RE: Drive shaft lubrication question

In 30 years working on cars and trucks the only u-joints I have seen fail were caused by lack of lubrication. Factory sealed or not, the seal will fail eventually and then the joint.

RE: Heading to Dover Speedway- any place to get propane?

Flying J off Jersey Turnpike just before Delaware Memorial bridge exit for I140. Take a right at the end of the ramp and will be on your left .4 miles. Always had good prices for propane easy in and out.

RE: Dumping air bags

I don't know what chassis you have but on my Winnegabo the dump valve was not working and the problem belonged to freightliner. They replaced the valve located just in front of the fuel tank. Their warranty was for 3 years / 36,000 miles from date of purchase.

RE: tie rod ends

If it were me, I would replace just the tie rods that are worn. We don't drive these things very far and the odds are the other parts will last a long time. The worst thing for wear on these parts is not lubing them. Make sure they get greased every time you change the oil. Sometimes when you pay for an oil change they forget or skip the hard to reach fittings.

RE: tie rod ends

Is that tie rods or ball joints? You should have upper and lower ball joints and left and right inner and outer tie rods.

RE: P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Range/Performance

I know that ford pick up trucks have had this code problem and the common cause was rust contamination inside the tank which causes the fuel pump to fail. If this is the case, the tank and pump would have to be replaced.

RE: Now I am really confused, 2011 Jeep towing.

I have a 2008 Jeep wrangler and the first time I forgot to leave the key in accessory pos. the steering wheel locked on my first turn. Boy what a screech. I did hear that the later model years don't lock.
