RE: Dinette screws stripped out - fixable?

All good suggestions here. We just rotated the base a little and found new wood for the screws. It has worked well for over 4 years now.

RE: Where do full-timers spend the summer?

It is always changing. Our first 5 years we traveled.
This year we are trying the mountians of Kentucky for the summer.
Next Summer? Who knows!! That is the great thing about full timing.

RE: jayco vs outback

We have lived full time in ours for almost six years now and still love our Outback.
Jayco has a good reputation and I don't think you can go wrong with with either brand.

RE: Hillsboro River State Park

Things have changed in our view. We have camped there on and off since 1985. It has only been the past two or three years that this behavior has been noted.

RE: Hillsboro River State Park

So what is wrong with the park?
I have camped in at least in 50% of all Florida State parks and campground hosted in three of them. I have never met such rude rangers! This was not just one ranger having a bad day, but almost all the rangers that we have had multiple contacts with, over a 3 year period.
It is not what they say, but how they say it. They go over the rules at check in, as if you are 3 years old and they know you will break them. You are not a "guest" or even a "camper" but rather a "bother" to them.
I never broke the rules and as a host, I certainly am familiar with them.
Physically, it is a great park, but I will NOT patronize any park that does not treat me with an ounce of respect, even in my beloved Florida State Park system.
I know that this is a strong rant, but I will NEVER go to that park again, not when there are many other Florida State parks that treat will you well.

RE: Marcus and his involvement here.

Stopped into the Bowling Green store today, spent $200.00 on just "odds and ends." They had eveything I needed and more.
It is a pleasure to know that Mr. L is on top of things. Howe many large companies do you know that the CEO takes such a personal interest? I know of just a few and that is what makes thier commpanies great.
Keep up the good work Mr. L.

RE: Good ol Camping World!

Don't be to sure about tire stores. Recently a "tire expert" put our spare back under our truck UPSIDE DOWN. When it started to rattle, because it did not fit the holder, my wife and I had to fix it, as we were 500 miles away from the store at the time.
ANY business is only as good as the people that work there.

RE: Great toe amputation

I am diabetic AND had the big toe of my right foot removed in 2007. I keep a journal of our travels since retirement, and refered to it before responding to you.
I was about 4 weeks in recovery until the surgeon released me for travel. I had no balance/walking issues except I had to wear a hard soled "boot" for the first month and that gave me a small limp which went away with time.
It was a litle difficult, mentally, losing a body part, but I felt so much better physically, getting rid of the infection in the bone.
I would ask my docotor about recovery time. He/she would have better information, but that was my experience.

RE: A Thanks to Marcus

I agree. It is rare today to see a CEO so reponsive and involved with his customers.
It certainly will build confidence and yes, even loyality, to the CW brand.
My expereinces have always been good with CW, but it is nice to know that Marcus really cares.
Good Job and Thanks.

RE: MYRVMAIL

This is NOT our first post and we use RV Mail. We have enjoyed thier service for over 5 years now without a problem.
Here is a story of how they go "above and beyond." You can have them "trash" (throw away) any item that you don't want forwarded to you. I commonly do this with unordered magazines, etc.
One fine day I got a call from My Rv Mail and they asked if I was sure I wanted this particular item that I ordered trashed actually be trashed? Turns out it was a blood glucose meter that, as a diabetic, I was waiting for!! I had made a mistake when I ordered it trashed and they caught it.
My RV Mail looks out for you and for us full timers, we would have no other service!!

RE: How did you start fulltiming?

Two pieces of advice:
1. Stay flexible. We "planned" a year to sell the house and outfit an RV. We sold the house in 8 days with a closing 20 days later! So much for an organized plan. LOL
2. Be debt free. After living over 30 years paycheck to paycheck, this was the best advice we ever recieved. We are so glad we had enough equity in the sticks and bricks to make this possible.

We did for over 30 years.
Now that we full time, every day is camping.
Would not give it up for the world.

RE: Keystone Outback

Have had ours almost 6 years now. We travel in it full time. The Outback is a medium priced camper and has a lot to offer for the buck. I would buy another.
