RE: Home theatre combo 5.1 with DVD and Am\Fm

You are probably going to have to by a replacement system that includes speakers since I could never find a replacement for that POS Executive I had in my last camper without buying a full system. My current camper came with a Samsung HTZ-320. Not a top shelf system but a heck of a better than that 'Executive'.

RE: Cat peeing everywhere

How often are you cleaning the boxes? We had an issue with one of our 4 pooping outside and just in front of the box. More frequent cleanings seemed to remedy that.
Have you had your 'skin and bones' pet's thyroid checked. 2 of our older ones were losing a lot of weight. Both had thyroids issues. The take pills now and both put meat back on their bones.

RE: What is best way to patch small screw holes?

I'll probably see if I can find the boat repair stuff since I would prefer they be the least visible as possible.

What is best way to patch small screw holes?

I had one skirt on the nose area of my 5th wheel that was a piece of junk (over the long haul) and I am replacing it with a custom made skirt. I have to remove the snaps that are on there now screwed into the fiberglass and want to plug the screw holes the best I can.
So beyond puttying the holes, what is the best way to plug and hide these holes?
Thanks,
Dave

How can I convert a Coleman Pack-Away Fireplace to gas?

I have a Coleman Pack-Away Fireplace. The campground we stay at does not permit open fires at the individual sites. They have a central fire pit area. They do, however, allow gas grills and gas fire logs and I would like to find a set of logs that would fit in my Coleman (22" pit). I haven't found any yet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave

RE: Caravanning?

We are looking at a one way caravan. You leave the caravan at the half way point and head off on your own. Price is a lot less and you get an education/experience about RV'ing in Alaska before going it alone.

RE: Protecting front of camper

Just attended a seminar by Ron Jones about the trip. He had pulled a small SUV behind his Monaco and had a full sweep installed at the rear. He talked about most roads being paved but did talk about a constant stream of construction sites and a lot of gravel. He said he lost all the paint of the from of his SUV.
I was thinking about cheap carpet held on to the lower from to the 5vr with snaps.

Protecting front of camper

I've heard about the rough roads in Alaska and all the damage that gets done to the front of campers or towed vehicles. When we go to Alaska we will bestowing a 5vr and I'd like some suggestions on how to protect the front end, especially the lower section.

RE: Full Time Virtual Office -- Real or Pipe Dream?

There are (were?) 2 models, a 3G and a 4G. Get the 4G since it works in a 3G area but gives you 4G if it is available. It is a Verizon product and it gets a separate cell number assigned and is added to your current account. You can use the USB 'stick' if you only need to connect 1 device/computer vice the MiFi device. The router feature of the MiFi is the only advantage.
Go with the 5G for starters. I am on line 8+ hours a day and my wife is online too. Data downloads are not bandwidth intensive so I think your will be OK. Verizon will always be glad to raise you to a higher package. If you are downloading full moviesthen even 10G might not be enough.
I have a Wilson phone amp that I no longer use. I was in an area 2 years ago that had very. very weak cell service. It helped somewhat. Most areas, you won't need it unless you are going to be in the sticks some place. Check the Verizon coverage map for the areas you plan to spend most of your time. I was in one of the 'white' spots (no coverage) when I had to use the amp. If you are in a 'red' area, your good. They even have a 4G coverage map online.

RE: Full Time Virtual Office -- Real or Pipe Dream?

No special setups at all. I have the MiFi device which acts also as a 5 connection hub. I have 2 laptops, an iPad, and iPhone and a wireless printer connected wirelessly to it. I plug the MiFi in and I'm off and running. The MiFi is also battery powered so I can take it with me when I need to.
Let me know any specifics you want to know.
I have the 10G package but could probably get away with the 5G and then pay for overages. In 2 years I have gone over 5G only twice and then not by much.

Ladder vs. window awning

I want to put a window awning on the rear window of my 5vr but the ladder overlaps the window enough to prevent that from happening.
Any suggestions?

RE: Full Time Virtual Office -- Real or Pipe Dream?

Don't limit yourself based on 4G or 3G. I work full time via the web for a software company while I am RV Full timing and have been doing it for 2 years. I have never been in a 4G area yet (other than on visits) and 3G has been fine. The only things on which I see bad impacts are when using YouTube and downloading large files (like major software updates). Now, I have to say, I have been in 3G areas that were substantially slower than other 3G areas.
I spend 6 months using HughesNet and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Except got the Hughesnet fiasco, it has been great being able to work from the RV.
BTW, I have always used Verizon. Several people at the campground I am at for the winter (KOA in Starke, FL) have also switched over to Verizon because of their poor experiences with their previous providers and my good experiences with Verizon.

RE: Shotgun Sports, clays and competition at a campground

We have a Sporting Farm about 5 miles from the KOA CG here in Starke, FL. Its not associated with the CG but is conveniently close. The CG is about 50% seasonals during the winter and we have a large group that shoots Sporting Clays on a weekly basis. The Sporting Farm also supports pistol and rifle ranges, 5 Stand & skeet.

RE: Day/Nite Shades

Is there a slot in the backside of that middle bar? I guess you'll have to restring them yourself.
Recently, after restringing several when the cord breaks (and they all will eventually), I have been removing the lower 'day' part. We never use the blinds in the 'day' position. I've done 2 that way so far but will do them all as they need restringing.
