RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Thanks Mary Lou. We will back Monday, the good Lord willing. Boy this summer is going to be jammed packed. When we get back from our trip to Ohio, Michigan and Montana we will be leaving for Missouri in August for two weeks. Our grandson Joshua will be graduating from boot camp and then off to Med school. We will be there to see him off into his new adventure. I think we will spend some time in Branson before coming home. Have a great and blessed weekend, talk with you later.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Gosh today was a banner day for me. I washed the camper and the truck and finally found a place to mount the CB radio. I was lost without it when we went to Virginia, but now I have it back and its in an easy place to get to. The thing is about twelve years old but it still works fine. I am looking forward to this weekend with the family. Lake Hartwell is a beautiful lake, but right now the water level is very low for some reason. Jeff is going to bring the pontoon boat with the new second hand motor. Last summer the old motor gave up the ghost. It was about time as it was twenty years old and had been giving signs it was about to leave us. Jeff found a good used 110hp Mercury and it gave the old boat new life. The girls will enjoy the water as it is supposed to be hot over the weekend. It is nice to be going a short distance and spending three days staying put. Wishing everyone a blessed weekend.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning. Well we are ready to travel. The camper issues are taken care of and we should be able to travel without fear of tire failure for a long time. The G614 Good Year tire is really a heavy duty tire. With the wheels each tire weighs close to ninety pounds each. I guess I will need to get a good road side service company before we leave this summer. I tried to pick up one of the tires yesterday as If I was going to put it on a rim and couldn't do it. The girls are fine and ready to go camping this weekend. We are going to a State Park on a lake just 46 miles up the road. Sadlers Creek State Park sits on 395 acres on a peninsula that extends into Lake Hartwell, one of the Savannah River reservoirs. The twins are going with us along with their families. The weather looks great for the weekend so I am hoping we wlll enjoy the great outdoors. PS: The tire are made in the USA!

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Today is Richard Wagner's 199th birthday. Go hug a valkyrie today :B In Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja "chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who decides who falls and dies in battle. Selecting among half of those who die in battle (the other half go to the goddess Freyja's afterlife field Fólkvangr), the valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. There, the deceased warriors become einherjar. When the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans or horses. Okay Gary. I called customer service and asked where I could find a Valkyrie so I could hug one and was told to take a hike...

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Yesterday was a good day. It sounds as if the Burke County Commissioners have finally come around. Chairman Wayne Crockett has always been a supporter of the Old Fella Rescue but there was opposition from some of the other members. Those who opposed the county helping will no longer be on the board after this summer. The new ones coming on have always been Old Fella friends and have already given Wayne their support. What a long hard fight this has been and now to see it all come together is beyond words and a dream come true. George DeLoach was Mayor of Waynesboro when Old Fella came on the scene and was helpful in getting the memorial for Old Fella in the City Park. He is an animal lover and a new board member and in favor of animal control. With the support that was already there this addition is enough to give a strong majority. What a great day.

We are set to arrive on the 14th after driving the great distance of 12 miles. Roger & Denise Great! It doesn't matter how close you live to the campground once you get there as far as anyone else knows you could have come from South Carolina! Looking forward to seeing you.

GREAT NEWS! Wayne Crockett Commissioner Chairman of the Burke County Commissioners is making a proposal to the commission that the six Acers of land owned by the county be deeded to the Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue with buildings. One building has 2,550 square feet and there are two wells on the property. It is completely fenced in with an eight foot tall chain link fence. Also he is making a proposal that the County go into partnership with Old Fella and establish an animal control starting October 2012.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning. Well it is another good start to a great day! I am feeling so much better. The girls are doing fine and ready to face the day. The Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue is still trying to raise the money to build the shelter on the property. The plan is to put a ready made building on the property for now and then when the plans are complete and the money is ready to build a permanent structure on the site. The organization is in it sixth year of operation and the Old Fella spirit is still alive in the community.

RE: How do you handle leaving pets while site seeing?

We travel with four dogs, Mama 11+ years old , Peaches 11 years old, Hobo somewhere around 6 years old and Suzie six years old. When we plan our day for going off we are never gone more than four hours. We leave the door to the camper unlocked so someone can rescue them if necessary. We leave the leashes next to the door for easy access. We have been camping for many years and have never had anything happen while we are away. Our dogs are not barkers so they don't disturb the neighbors.

Good morning. It is a great morning so far. We have been for our morning walk and ready for church. Today we will be celebrating the church's 140th year of service. We expect a large crowd with dinner on the ground after the morning service. I hope all is well in FOOF land and you have a blessed day.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning. Well today is a better day. This morning I felt pretty good and was able to eat without getting sick. I am looking forward to being outside as the weather is beautiful. The girls are doing well and full of themselves. Mama seems to be having a nice day. She wants to go for a walk watching my every move to see if I go for the leash. Sue and I are looking forward to the summer and the trip to Ohio for the Old Fella Rally. I do hope more will join us. Time ismoving so fast, it seems like yesterday we had the first Old Fella Rally in Branson, Missouri in 2006. What a great time we had watching Friends of Old Fella get acquainted. We have lost some of those folks and Old Fella since that time, but the Old fella spirit is still alive. If you haven't been to an Old Fella Rally this year is the perfect time to attend. So join us and celebrate with us as we continue to keep his memory alive.

"I am having new tires and wheels put on the camper next week and this should put an end to tire failure unless I run over something which can always happen. " Another set of tires? You must be upgrading to new rims for some reason? Thanks for the info and have a great day! Gary I am going to G614 Good Year tires and that requires a wheel or rim that will hold 110 PSI.

This year's rally will see a raffle that will be a little different. Raffle prizes have been difficult to come by so there will be one very nice prize for the person who has the winning ticket. I am looking forward to seeing everyone who has signed up to come and expect to have a great time.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning. I am doing some what better, not completely well but getting there. Dr. Cheek decided a while back that I needed to try the medicine again to give it another chance as she believed this was the answer for my condition. I stayed on it longer this time before the flare up, but this one was severe, so I am off of it for good. The girls are doing well and staying happy. It won't be long now before we leave for the Rally in Ohio. I am loooking forward to our trip this summer after then Rally visiting family we haven't seen in a while. I am having new tires and wheels put on the camper next week and this should put an end to tire failure unless I run over something which can always happen. Okay it is time for me to go and walk the girls, talk with you later.

I thought the doc had taken you off the Januvia. She did and then put me back on it. Now I am off it for good.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

This is the diagnosis: FDA links Januvia to pancreatitis September 28, 2009 | By Tracy Staton Concerned by post-marketing cases of pancreatitis, FDA is adding the reports to labeling on Merck's (MRK) diabetes drug Januvia (sitagliptin) and a combo form of the drug, Janumet. The agency is recommending that doctors monitor their patients after starting them on either drug, and after increasing their doses. Plus, the new labeling will point out that Januvia hasn't been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis, so doctors should be extra cautious about using the drug in those people. FDA says it has reviewed 88 cases of acute pancreatitis in patients using Januvia or Janumet, reported between October 2005 and February of this year. Some 66 percent were hospitalized, with four admitted to ICU. Nineteen of the 88 cases occurred within 30 days of starting one of the drugs, and more than half of the 88 cases cleared up once the drug was stopped. "Based on the temporal relationship... FDA believes there may be an association," the agency said on its website. Merck, however, said its data don't show an increased risk of pancreatitis from Januvia. "Merck has thoroughly reviewed the safety data for sitagliptin, and sitagliptin was not associated with an increase in the incidence of pancreatitis in preclinical studies or in clinical trials of up to two years in duration with more than 6,000 patients," Senior VP DR. John Amatruda said in a statement. "Merck has also carefully reviewed post marketing adverse experience reports, and Merck believes these data do not demonstrate that a causal relationship exists between sitagliptin and pancreatitis." RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Well I don’t know what is wrong with me but I have nausea and a pain that starts in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades and radiates to my chest, or it could be the other way around. This has been going on since yesterday. I think it is from the medicine that I am taking for my diabetes. So this morning I will not take the pill but go back to the insulin and see if I get better. I am going back to bed for a while and see if I get better,

RE: Which generator setup????

I have been using the Honda 3000 watt for about four years and it works very well. It weighs about 140 pounds so it may take two people to lift it, The run time with A/C is about 12-14 hours. The run time in the winter is about 24 hours with the camper heater going. The noise level is about the best, not be able to hear it inside the camper that much, making sleeping easy.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. We have certainly had a lot of rain lately. All the plants and trees are so green and the flowers are so beautiful. The girls are enjoying the cool weather but really want to be outside more. Mama is doing well but showing signs of trouble ahead with her hips. Her heart says she can and her body says she better be careful. I watched her try to run yesterday and she manages to get into a gallop but not able to really stretch out into a full run. I guess I look the same way when I try to run. WHERE IS THE VEDIO CAMERA WHEN YOU NEED ONE? Yesterday I crossed a very busy street in Simpsonville and had to hurry across or become a greasy spot on the pavement. I tried to look dignified and get into a fast trot, but I am sure there were some comments from the motorist like, Move it old man! Believe me I was trying with all I had, but my running days are over and something that looks like a wounded duck is the results. Last night we had rain all night again. Sometimes it was very hard and blacked out the reception from the satellite. I was watching the movie Liar, liar and could only catch it between the storms that rolled through. Hobo was so frightened last night when one of the storms got really bad. She and mama got close to me and wanted me on the floor with them so they could cuddle up close. So I got down with them lying down using Hobo as a pillow and Mama snuggling up I went to sleep for a few minutes before getting up and going to bed. I don’t know what life would be like without our fur babies. Each one is so different and yet they are the same. All they want is to be fed and have a lot of love given them. I do hope there is a nice truck that Mama can in ride at Rainbow Bridge. I have never had a dog that loves to ride as much as she does. Every time I go out the door she is right there asking, Can I go? Okay it is time for me to go and get ready to face the day. Talk with you later.
