Atlanta

Heading to Wisc from Fl in the near future but don't know the exact date yet. I know the best time through Atl is probably on a Sun morning but that might be feasible. Is 285 West about the same as 285 East. Have been around the East side and the trucks were horrible. I would rather drive straight through on 75 but do not know the best times during the week. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

President's Club/GS

From what I have been reading on this forum I understand that the Pres Club and GS have been combined. If this is true do I no longer have to buy a Pres Club Membership since I am a Lifetime Member?

RE: spare tire

I probably have the same motorhome. 2006 Sun Voyager 8388. They don't supply a spare because they are 22.5 and most people cannot change them due to size and weight. I had a blowout in Canada 2 yrs ago on my way back from Alaska and had to wait 3 days for a new tire to arrive. I was lucky it I was in a campground when it happened. Since then I have purchased new tires and kept an old one as a spare. I took a bicycle rack and modified it to now carry a spare on the hitch. At least if I have a flat, road service will be able to change it out so I can get off the highway to a store to replace it. I might add it is just a spare tire, no wheel. I am not sure the tire rack would support a tire and rim due to weight. I know I probably do not need to carry one in the states but it gives me some peace of mind.

Cradle of Forrestry

Has anyone ever worked for the Cradle of Forrestry in Indiana. I got an unsoliciated offer today to Camp Host in Southern Indiana. I have only found 1 review from 2006 with mixed info. I workamped with someone 3 yrs ago that had worked in Nc for them and he said it was too much. He was assigned a loop and had to take care of it by himself. Things might have changed since then so any information anyone can provide is appreciated. Thanks for your help.

RE: Resume??

I usually just email them my workamper resume with a note. We also have other resume's of our regular work experience that I make available to them if they want them but I do send it to them unless they request it. My workamping resume mentions that I served in the Navy for 21 yrs but does not go into detail. It mainly convers my workamping experience and references. In all the years I have been workamping, I have only one employer ask for my other resume.

RE: Removed batwing, added Jack Antenna

Great job and thanks for the info. You answered a lot of questions for me as I have the same problem. The Wingman will not work for me as when I crank my batwing down it would hit the a/c. I have been looking at the Jack for a while but now I am going out next week and get mine. Thanks for great info and maybe see you down the road. Happy travels.

RE: Normandy Farms

Good to hear all the good comments. We have accepted a workamper job from May thru Oct and are looking forward to it. We visited the New England area last year and decided we had to go back and have more time to see the sites.

RE: Spare tires

I have a W24 with 22.5 tires so there was no place to carry one. I took a bicycle carrier and modified it to mount on the hitch so I carry a tire only. After having a blowout in BC and waiting for 3 days for a replaclement, I want to carry a tire just in case. I looked to try to mount it under the rear of the coach but it rides too low and I was afraid it would drag in low areas. I just finished it and now I am trying to find a tire cover. I would never leave home without one. I have Coach Net so I will not even try to change it myself due to the weight and that is why most motorhomes with 22.5 tires do not have a spare.

RE: Dishonest RV dealership, General RV

Here in Jax Fl area they have really gotten big. My friend had a little sideswipe with his DP and took it in for an estimate. It took them 3 weeks to get a actual estimate from them. While they were there he wanted to look at a used 2005 DP. His coach was a 2004 and when he told the salesman what he wanted to look at they took him to see a brand new unit. When he told them he wanted to see the 2005 unit the salesman made the decision for him that he did not want to just upgrade 1 year and would not even show him the rig. Needless to say he decided to did not buy from them and is still looking. I have never dealt with them so I cannot say they are good or bad but what my friend had to deal with I would think twice before I go there.

Black Bear Campgorund NY

Anybody camp there? Looks like like great location to visit the city. Checked RV Park Reviews and there is only one and it was not good. Could have a bad time of the year when the people visited or is it like that all the time. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Rt 2 Vermont to Maine

Looking at starting Rt2 at Montpelier, Vt all the way to Auburn, Me. Anyone have any experience with this route as good/bad or low overpasses. It looks like a pretty good road on the map but maps don't tell you the full story. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you bypass it you will miss the Spam Museum by Albert Lea. I have never seen so many different flavors of Spam. Nice little museum, worth the stop.

RE: Tallulah Gorge SP, GA

We stopped there about 3 yrs ago in a 35' mh. A little tight in some spots but not that bad. The campground was very quiet and clean, the host were very nice. There are paths that lead to the main bldg where they have animal displays, a little shop, and general info about the park. You can go to the shop and sign up to walk to the bottom of the gorge but it is about 1380 steps back up. They have platforms so often so you do not have to climb it all a once. It is a real trek but I would recommend it provided you are in good health. It is real pretty and one of those places you will not forget. If you have the time stop for a couple of days.
