RE: LED'S down side?

The two Mobile Suites came standard with LED's. In my opinion there is no down side to LED's. When upgrading the cost will be the downside. I have upgraded tow equipment trailers to LEDs'. My 2012 Chevy 3500HD which I had a CM hauler bed installed has all LEDs' excellent lighting.... Happy Trails...

RE: Fordman and your Landmark Grand Canyon

We have owned two Mobile Suites and have pulled them both with a GM 3500 DRW's and were within all weight ratings. The 2011's and newer have no problem with the Mobile Suites.. Granted the Suites are all heavy due to the 15" Lippert frames and the 3 1/4" walls. But with Disk brakes there are no issues with stopping. The Landmark Augusta we owned was very light compared to the Suites.. The rating on our Suites is 18,500. We are below that. We also pulled with a Freightliner and the 2011 Chevy we owned handled the Suites over the same passes in Colorado as the Freightliner. However we used the Freightliner because we were towing a Chevy HHR behind the Suites.... Just be happy in what ever you buy if not get happy. Happy Trails.....

RE: laws

DOT is a Federal law, RV's as said about is controlled by State of Lic.. The truth is its a money thing, many States are going bankrupt and are going for your money any possible way.... Cal. is a good example...

RE: Landmark Warranty

The cost is for sure in the number someplace. Don't know what the Landmarks are selling at now. But my 2009 Landmark Augusta was less than$50,000 fully loaded.... Nothing being sold in the RV industry will be sold without a profit... The warranty issue was forced on all the RV's as a selling point.. And for sure the higher-end units forced the mid level RV's to say they can be used for full timing... But you can full time in a tent.. Be Happy. Happy Trails...

RE: Ax Men, and Ram

This isn't my first Rodeo, I know Ford don't make a Ford Road tractor. I have blown the doors off Ford Road tractors many times, to include the Sebring or what ever Ford built in Louisville Ky.. However very few of the Axe men are driving new Trucks.. Happy Trails.,,,, P.S. Yes some people are easily confused...

RE: Need an opinion from the "weight police"

To the OP, the dry weight really means nothing at all. Its just a number... The loaded weight is the number. And you want know that number until you are hooked-up, Truck and Trailer for RVing... I have owned several 5th wheels and several GM Trucks 2500HD, 3500HD and a Chevy 4500. However times have changed in the GM world. The ratings have been raised. The issue with the 2500HD's will be the pin weight. I'm of the belief that you can have to much Trailer but never to much Truck. That being said and knowing most RVer's alway move up in size as for the 5th wheels. I would recommend nothing less than a 3500HD SRW's, however if I were buying I would go with a GM 3500HD, DRW's. But I for sure would buy the 5th wheel first.... My comments are from actual experience and spent tons of money.... Sometimes experience cost lots of money.... Using the SWAG method I would think the number you listed the GM 2500HD 2011 and newer will work... Again thats using the SWAG method.... Good Luck on your decision. Happy Trails... P.S. I just downsized from a Freightliner M2. So I have been there and done that. But I'm for sure no expert.....

RE: Ax Men, and Ram

I really hadn't paid any attention to the commercial's, I don't really watch the commericals. However don't really think Ford trucks are pulling the Pole trailers hauling the wood... I do know that GM Silverados will have a Natural gas/Gas burning engine in the next few months, but they all will have one in the next few months. However its not new ideas, had propane burning/Gas burning cars in the 80's. Storage tanks are the issue.....

RE: 100,000 mile diesel

The Duramax with a 100,000 miles want be a issue unless the prior owners put gadgets on to give more HP or failed to change the Oil and Filters etc. Really the gadget issue would be a huge worry for myself. No Duramax needs a gadget to improve HP and I don't believe for a second that the gadgets improve fuel mileage. Common sense tells you if it did the gadget would be a factory install. Can't comment on the Fords or Dodge diesels. However the Cummins engine on the Class 8 Trucks is a awesome power plant, actual hands on experience..... Happy Trails... P.S. I have only bought GM Trucks and have owned 7 GM HD's with the Duramax and never a Issue.. I did own a Freightliner with a Mercedes. To get actual experience and tons of miles talk to Hot Shot owners, they actually run lots of miles.... 300,000 to 500,000 miles wouldn't be unusual for a Duramax, however there will be issues with any Diesel. Remember they are built by man..... By-the way good question by the OP...

RE: Fort Campbell Ky

We lived in the Clarksville area many years (I'm Retired Military) and I recommend the Clarksville RV Park at exit 1 off I-24. We normally stay there 3 or 4 times a year. The only thing I dislike is the roads aren't paved... other than that the park is great. The manager is very nice. Happy Trails....

RE: How long does your propane tank last?

It depends on size of tank's, weather and the type 5th wheel you have. We have twin 40 pounders and from last Oct. till today 6 Mar. we have used two tanks. However for 3 months we had the Hot water heater running on Propane, we are paying for the electricity. We also don't eat out often. Keep in mind RV's aren't designed for energy efficiency. Happy Trails....

RE: Redwood 5er

The Redwood I seen at the Tampa RV show look very well, however I will stay with Drv, Mobile Suites, the Suites works much better for us. The first time I seen a Redwood (in Colorado) I though from a distance it was a Mobile Suites? Similar slides, for the side by side W/D and the Lippert 6 point level up system. But the frame is smaller. The fit and finish looked good, and the design looks good. If the Redwood fits your needs and wants go for it... As for full timing warrantee, I wouldn't hesitate a minute. We were full timing in a Keystone Cambridge that wasn't for full timing and was at the factory and they knew we were full timing and no questions were ask. Heck the one year warrantee is over before you know it anyway. I have never had a issue with a Lippert frame, we have owned 6 5th wheels riding on a Lippert frame. My two Mobile Suites have had the 15" Lippert frame's and I actually seen the frame before being built on the 2010 we ordered, but I'm no welding expert so I wouldn't know if they were good welds or not.... As for full Body Paint, well I haven't owned a 5th wheel that wasn't painted... I really don't care for the dark paint on the so called full body paint, however its a choice if it works for you and you have a extra $5,000 to $8,000 go for it. Just be Happy, there is no reason for being unhappy. Happy Trails....

RE: Engine Hoist to remove hitch

I'm Lucky but I have a John Deere Tractor with a front loader and have a fork lift attachment. My 5th wheel hitch is a Trailer Saver TS 3 air ride hitch and I use my Truck only as a tow truck. Never haul anything but the Trails Saver and the 45 gal in-bed fuel tank... Happy Trails....

RE: Empty Ride of a 1 Tonner

My 2012 Chevy 3500HD rides just fine with the marked tire pressure... Actually it the door jam pressure which is 70 lbs for the rears and 65 lbs for the fronts... The Michelins cold pressure is max 80 lbs... Mobile Suites are a 125 lbs of pressure.. I have no abnormal tire wire and never had a tire issue.... The ride on my 2011/2012 Chevy 3500HD DRW's is the best riding 1 ton GM trucks I have owned. Happy Trails..

RE: Empty Ride of a 1 Tonner

I never change Air pressure. I always run the sidewall pressure on every tire that rolls. Spare is always 10 lbs more... Never have had a tire issue.. But its a choice..... Happy Trails.... P.S. My Trucks rides like a Truck..... But thats what I bought, a Truck.... P.S. Actually instead of the side wall numbers its the door jam numbers. On my Trucks.

RE: Empty Ride of a 1 Tonner

I have owned both the GM 2500HD's and the GM 3500HD's. And I much prefer the 3500HD's over the 2500HD's. The 3500HD's are a much more tow vehicle than the 2500HD's. I have also owned Trucks with a Air Ride system, a Freightliner and a Chevy 4500. The GM 3500HD's want ride as good as a Air ride truck.. The GM 2011's and the 2012 3500HD's ride much better that the 2010's and older. The new GM suspensions is the difference. And I have owned both the 2011 and now the 2012. You will still have the ride of the steel suspension of a Truck.. Can't comment on the Fords or dodges. I'm a 100% satisfied with my 2012 Chevy 3500HD DRW's for towing heavy the GM 3500HD DRWs is the way to go.. Happy Trails....

RE: 2012 Chevrolet Brake Wiring

I had a new 2011 Chevy and the 2012 and everything worked. I do have a CM hauler bed on the 2012 Chevy 3500HD DRWs and everything was plug and play on the CM hauler Bed install... Everything worked on every 3500HD DRW's I have owned prior to the IBC except on the 2005 and the 2007 I did have to connect one wire, which was very simple... Good Luck. Happy Trails....

RE: Oil changes - DIESEL ONLY

I buy my Oil and Filters for the Duramax and pay $20.00 to get them changed out... I also paid $20.00 to get the Freightliner changed also ... I also buy Oil and filters in bulk. But expect everything that needs oil to go up higher and higher..... Can't say why but you know...... Happy Trails..

RE: The book says wait 500 miles before towing anything.....

In my opinion it want make any difference, I believe the 500 miles is for the rear gear to wear in. However I only drive GM and have owned 3 who didn't get to 500 miles and had no issues.. Not saying you shouldn't get the 500 miles, but it made no difference in my Trucks... Happy Trails..
