RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

Hi Hobo,
Glad to hear from you. I know what you mean about selling something that has been a part of your life for so long. It was tough to sell our motorcycle a few years ago after having one for 25 years (no, not the same bike for 25 years, just 3 bikes). I know it wouldn't be quite the same, but you could always find a motel close by and sit around the campfire with the rest of us.
Gee, pictures. I don't remember anyone taking very many photos. Seems kinda funny with all the "smart" phones around that have cameras. :R
Hope you enjoy the computer class. Heck, I even have to take one once in a while to catch up on the latest stuff. Technology moves faster than I do. :B
Only 79, huh? Than's not old, that's just getting warmed up.

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

Laura and I would like to thank everyone for coming this year. We would also like to thank everyone that helped set up, cook and clean up. We could not have done it without your help.
So, who is going to be the wagonmasters for next year, and where the heck are we going? Let's get some ideas flowing here folks.
Laura and I made it down to Bend around 4pm. We found the rain just outside of Yakima and were in and out of the rain all the way down. It's supposed to be off and on rain all week, but that's okay, we're used to that sort of weather. :C
For those that missed the rally this year, you missed a good one. And the weather wasn't half bad either. :B Maybe you'll make it next year.
Ron,
Sorry to hear about Sadie. We know how tough it is to lose a canine member of the family.
Bob,
Keep getting better. We expect to see you at next year's rally.
Hobo, Mopargo, Grousehunter, HR03,
You guys too better be there next year. No excuses. :)

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

Good morning everyone.
Well, today is the first day since we/ve been here where the sun itsn't glaring through the windows by 8am. The forecast for today is mostly cloudy and 70 for a high.
The taco bar was a hit last night for dinner, although Laura and I over-estimated the amount of food needed. Maybe we thought y'all were big eaters. :B Oh well, there is plenty for left-overs tonight too.
Financially, we had $15 left from the $560 we had at the end of last year's rally. Add to that the $156 from bingo and $301 from the silent auction and we have $472 for next next.
Speaking of next year, where do y'all want to go next year? Post your comments and let's see if we can make a decission by the end of June.
One thing we forgot to mention last night was....if you haven't done so already, please leave your name badge holders with us. Those things are expensive and we would prefer to reuse them rather than buy more next year.
To everyone leaving today, thanks for coming and have a safe trip home.
For those of us staying until tomorrow, left-overs at 6pm in the clubhouse.
We hope to see everyone again next year, including those that didn't make it this time.
TTFN

Good moeveryone.
It looks like it's going to be another beautiful day in Prosser. :C
Coffee is on in the clubhouse. There is also fruit, donuts and muffins.
I didn't specify a time for today, and I changed tomorrow's time from 9am to 7am. What the heck, I'm always up early. :R

John,
So sorry to hear that you won't make it. :( I hope they are able to fix your rig quickly and not cost a fortune.
You did check all of the fuses, right? :B

Yep, we all wish those of you that can't make it this year were here, but life gets in the way sometimes. If you have any thoughts of where to go next year, please let me know so we can discuss later.
It's anohter nice day in Prosser. Cooler (low 70's), but still sunny and dry. :C

RE: 2013 NW Spring Rally..when and where to go?

We arrived in Prosser yesterday around 3:30 and it was a cool 95 degrees. :C It's only supposed to get to 82 today and low to mid 70's the rest of the week.
Got all of the rally stuff out of the trailer. I'm guessing it must have weighed a couple hundred pounds (at least) for all the food and supplies we brought over. It's all in the clubhouse and it's all set up. Just a few things to buy here, so I'm sure we'll be heading for Costco down in Richland later.
See y'll real soon. :B

Just a schedule reminder...
For those of us arriving Thursday (or before), we'll be having a dessert social hour at 7pm. Bring your favorite dessert to share with everyone.
Friday night is Bingo night, starting around 6:30pm. Hope everyone is at the park by then.
Saturday night we will have our silent auction followed by dinner (the Taco Bar).
See post #1 for details.
See y'all there! :C

Hey now, don't pick on Jon too much. Just cuz he hasn't figured out how to retire doesn't mean he doesn't know how to drink all that wine he buys. :B :E

Yes, Happy Mother's Day to all you great moms out there!
Grandparent's Day is in June, isn't it? I don't think they've come up with a Great Grandparent's Day yet, or have they? It's all a conspiracy between the greeting card companies and florists. :R
We'll be putting on the finishing touches to hopefully everything we need for the rally tomorow and heading out Tuesday morning. See y'all when ya get there.

Laura says she almost has our trailer packed with everything we need, and that's a good thing considering she also says she'e running out of places to put everything. :R She even wants to weigh it on our way over to see how loaded it is. :E Now if she wants to weigh it, that worries me. :B
It's going to be a busy weekend. Wedding to shoot tomorrow, Mother's Day Sunday, finish packing Monday, then head out Tuesday. Can't wait!

Hey, does anyone have a projector I can hook up to my laptop to use it for the bingo and silent auction?
If you do, could you please let me know if you can bring it to the rally. If nobody has one, we'll come up with Plan B. :B
I can't borrow the one from work this time like I have in the past. :R

Thanks Ryan. Maybe you could let him know to call the CG and cancel his reservation. I don't know if he gave a credit card number or not, and I would hate to see him get a bill for not being there.

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

Hello everyone,
Kelly, from the RV park, requested and I approved that she squeeze all of our rigs together in order to keep us more as a group. Some of us are in the same space, while the rest of us have moved around a bit. Don't worry, your price and services haven't changed from what you signed up for. See post #1 for your new space number.
If anyone has a problem with this, please let me know ASAP!

Hi everyone,
It's less that 2 weeks before rally time and I want to get you thinking about next year, so I started a new thread over here to get the discussion going. Throw out your ideas on the new thread and we'll talk more at this year's rally in a few days.
Oh, and I just put this out there for discussion purposes. I'm not volunteering us for wagonmasters for next year (at least not yet :R).

RE: 2013 NW Spring Rally..when and where to go?

I'll start this off with a quick review of 2 places...
Took a drive over to Hoodsport yesterday with Hank to check out Rest-A-While campground. It was a nice day for a drive and it was a nice park. The clubhouse would work well for the group, and it has a full kitchen. Most of the sites are back-in, but there are a few pull-thru's o nthe water side of the highway. Some of the sites on the water side of the highway are pretty close to the highway and could be a bit challening to get in and out of, but the pull-thru's would be fine.
The only think that was a little odd about the sites were the utilities. Power, water and cable hook-ups are between every other site and at the back corner, so someone would need to have long enough hoses and wires. Sewer connections were also at the back of every site, but the odd thing is that the connection is in the center of the site, so your sewer hose would end up going under your rig to get there.
If you were parked on the non waterfront side of the highway, the noise from the highway traffic seems minimal, probably due to all of the trees in and around the park.
Overall, this is a pretty nice park and would probably work fine for the group.
We also stopped at another campground just south of there (name?).
This park appears to be newer than Rest-a while, and it also has fewer trees, so shade is a premium. For the most part, the sites and road around them is a big gravel lot and not much grass. The clubhouse is pretty nice, but it could get crowded as we got closer to its capacity. The kitchen does not have a stove/oven, but it does have a sink, fridge and microwave. The clubhouse is a short walk from most of the sites, but manageable.
Of the two, I think Rest-a-while would work better.

2013 NW Spring Rally..when and where to go?

Hi gang,
It's less than 2 weeks before this year's rally and I wanted to get you thinking about where to go next year. It can get a little challenging to find a place if we wait too long to decide.
So, where would you like to go, or where do you think would be a good place to have a rally? Have you been to any parks recently that would make a good destination for the group?
Things to keep in mind...
Can andle up to 30 rigs.Has a clubhouse or meeting room big enough to handle up to 60 people and isn't too far away from the campsites.Preferrably has a full kitchen (at least a sink and fridge).
As for when to go. In the past, we have selected the weekend prior to Memorial Day weekend and before we get into the summer travel season when campgrounds get fuller and so do people's calendars of other events. Does this still work for everyone, or should we look at moving the date?
We will discuss more at this year's rally in Prosser, but let's get the discussion going now. In the end, it's up to the group and whoever we all select as the wagon masters as to where we go. I think no matter where we go, we'll have a great time! we always do. :C

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

Well, we're getting ready around here to be heading out for the rally...
Took the trailer down to Les Schwab to repack the bearings and they said everything looked good. Got the tires rotated on the truck and a front end alignment while I was at it.
Got back home and started printing out the bingo cards when my printer stopped. "Replace black cartridge" the thing said. Sure, I'll whip up an extra $125 out of my hip pocket. :R Okay, maybe it's not so bad. They are the high capacity ones that are supposed to print 8500 pages. Uh huh, sure. Took the cartridge out, shook it some, put it back in and off it went. Managed to get the name badges printed too.
Next weekend we'll make a last trip to Costco before heading over, and pick up the fruits and veggies over there.
Don't forget to bring your wrapped silent auction item for Saturday.
