RE: I am new to rving....Help

40 ft will be a problem in many national and state parks, never mind the trailer. I have found interior roads narrow and with many trees you might have a problem negotiating in to sites.

RE: Water leak at Driver window.

take a look also at the seals around the limit lights. Sometimes water will run from there back then come out of a channel or opening.

RE: National fishing license

Another dig at states' rights. Fed govt has too much power as it is. unless it is specifically in the constitution for the federal govt to do it is reserved to the states. Now if various states get together to honor each other's licenses, that would be a good thing.

RE: Power cord seperation

Home Depot and electrical stores sell a fusible electric tape that you an wrap on the cord jacket and bottom of connector. Then use regular electrical tape on top and you will have a good weather seal.

RE: National Parks this summer

Skip Utah? When I retire in August Utah is our first trip. Planning to spend a month there at minimum.
They definitely wanted to see OR and WA coast. Can only see so much in 3 months. We have done all, plus, but that is through MANY extended trips over the years.

RE: You installed a Solar System, How is it now?

To run Air conditioners, you will need a generator. I have installed panels on two motorhomes. Straight forward but labor intensive. As far as use, one dry camp period of one week, I used generator only a couple of hours the entire week as solar kept the batteries up pretty well. I use elec coffee pot, microwave, satellite TV, radio, etc. so I am not a skimpy user.
When installing the panels I would suggest removable struts to allow tilting the panels during the winter months to get more amperage. I would also use the largest wire your controller terminals will allow. I used no. 10 from panels to controller and no. 6 from controller to batteries. I have two panels and ran separate wires from each to controller.
I used to have to keep RV plugged in at the house when not in use to prevent batteries from discharging, now they are always full.
I assume you have an inverter in the unit to provide 120v off the batteries. If not, you should install a 2,000 watt minimum inverter.

RE: National Parks this summer

If I were planning the trip (I have been to most all National Parks and cross country several times) I would head south first to Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite, Lassen Volcanic Monument, Crater Lake, Oregon Coast, Glacier national park, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Black Hills, UP Michigan and home. You will see many different geography along the way. The trip is about 8,000 miles and, with a 3 month trip, assuming an average of 3 days at each site, the drive days would only average 160 miles per day so you can divert to other areas or stay longer somewhere. There is so much to see that one trip won't cover it all, but will give you a decent amount of time at many venues.

RE: I-70 in Colorado up to Estes Park

I took that route a couple of years ago with a 34ft A F53 Ford towing a CR-V and had no problems. Enjoyed the scenery.

RE: National Parks this summer

How much time do you have? When we go coast to coast we take at least 3 months. Time depends on roues and venues.

RE: Trip from MA/RI to Huntingbeach State Park

We have traveled that way when on the east coast. Once 84 to 78 to 81 to 64 to 95 in Richmond. Another time we kept on 64 to Norfolk and visited the outer banks then to Wilmington and Myrtle Beach when we had time to leisurely explore the coast. We have also routed through Gettysburg and taken 15 to 64. Nice country road but slow. Had no problems on any of those routes.

San Onofre Beach Marine base diesel??

Has anyone gotten diesel from the MCX on Basilone Rd at the San Onofre Beach rec area? If so how was it to maneuver the motorhome in and out of the fuel station? Looks like a convenient place to fill up on the way to San Diego.

RE: 2006 - 2007 DP?

Boy I wish I could have gotten a 350 hp Cat in my CR-V! HA!
It's really not a big deal. Just raise the hood and extend the bumper. If you are at all handy, just a 4 hour job. :B

RE: 2006 - 2007 DP?

I have a 2007 TropiCal LX 35 ft and like it. I tow CR-V.350hp Cat on Freightliner chassis. 4 coach batteries and I added 460 watts solar panels for dry camping. Worth a look if you can find one.

OR 35 and 26 southbound??

On my south return in August we will stay in Hood River then head south back to CA. Looking at 35 and 26 to Madras then to Bend. Any problems with this route driving 35ft A with CR-V?
