narcodog:
Yes I can see where you are right they have a thirty and 40 amp fuse all ready in place on stud one and two. Makes sense to me. Then just run it under the cab.
Thanks for the input.
Yes go right off the power center 40 amp to the 8 gauge red
I have it done that way and it works great

RE: Lance owners I need help!!! (1131 Tent replacment )

Do you still have the old tent? Perhaps you can have a "sail maker" make one with it as a pattern.....
x2
If you have a tent or awning manufacturer in your area, take the old tent to them and see what they can do.
I was going to order a new tent for ours soon, not that we need it, just in case we do.
I have heard rumours that the tent replacement might not be available
checked into it and Lance now makes the new tent with cheaper thinner material.
I’m lucky there is this company in town they will build the new tent to my specks. I have only talked to them, have not brought it in for a price, yet!
I am going to have it made with no rear screen and no drivers side screen. The Material will be a 100% water proof, mildew and mold resistant.
hope this helps

RE: dog ramp for people?

I use this product, pet loader For Cooper to get in my Truck and in the Camper.
When I have it set up for the camper i have used it to go in and out
all 220 lbs of me.
The only problem is I can't shut the screen door unless I remove it.
actually it only takes 20 seconds to fold it and move it to the side.
good product

RE: Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

Hi Dave: Where is that for the tar sands? I agree about the lance lock system, it takes the need for welds on the main part of the camper out of the equation. That in itself makes it stronger. The basement tank bracing is just a poor job done. I still dont think the speed screws I seen in your pic that they used were lobilock so that would be false advertizing. I wil be getting at mine in the next few weeks, will do a picture compairison of yours to mine..
Mike
Yes OIL sands
the screws are not coated and no anty-seize was used, so there will be electrolysis between the two metals.

RE: Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

Great responses from everyone
I believe that Lance Campers has a good product, the Lance lock system is a really well engineered system.
But you can have the best system in the world and if you cut corners in the basement area’s like Lance has done, your really well built engineered system means nothing, because once people see the bad they don’t talk about the good. Maybe all manufactures can learn from this.
As for the basement I have measured and recorded all the dimension of the tank supports. In the future if the tank supports cause me grief I will weld up some new aluminum frames and install myself. You want it done right, do it yourself; boy do those words have a meaning now.
I build products that help equipment lift vessels like the one below into place.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC00833.jpg
If I cut corners I lose business or can even get someone hurt or worse.
I have very strict quality control and have never advertised, I have always relied on word of mouth, last year I tripled my business base on that.
Rv folks talk to each other, build a good product and we are going to brag about it.

RE: Lance 1191 with or without tent option

The tent is a great option
we use it in rain, wind and shine.
great for extra guests
great for storage
and cooper loves his tent
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC00444.jpg
another nice thing is if you don't need the tent down leave it up and it takes no space inside and you always have the option to use it.
one draw back i have found is the screens
it is really cheap material and does tear if your not really careful packing it away

............And so we have proof positive that campers are worth the extra $$$$$$ because of superior construction techniques ! Maybe the quality control has become better , but wouldn't it be nice IF the mfger would take clear photo's of all major area's as the camper is being constructed and present a Photo Albumn to the new owner for future warranty claims . , jf
Truthfully from what i know now, i would suggest to anyone who is out buying, have the sales company open the bottom for your inspection.

Gman
I'm going to a video demo of the tent lift
i was hopping to use one of my nice prototypes I made but the company that was going to buy the idea from me is screwing me around,
since i hold two patent pending's on it, I am going to use my very first test model and show it off and let anyone who wants one, build one for themselves.
I should have it up in a week or so

RE: Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

The way that you installed the bubble insulation will not get you much R-value. For that type of insulation to work properly you need to leave a 3/4" to 1" air space at the insulation. If it fits tight you don't get the R-Value.
Reflectix is the brand of foil/bubble insulation often seen. Go to their web site and see their installation instructions and their Q & A section.
The extruded polystyrene that you installed is rated at R-5 per inch. The foil/bubble insulation installed that way will only give R-1 or R-2. Not much more than the plywood. If you sealed the foil tight and taped any seams it would help with air movement. Taping any seams on the extruded polystyrene will also cut down on air movement.
I'm fine with an extra r1 with the bubble insulation tight.
I did tape up the seams but i also left a few untaped areas. This way if i have a leak the water will take the easy route and alert me faster.
Before i did this an estimated r value of none and tons of free air movment. After the work an estimated r value of 7 + repaired a bunch of flaws that eventually would of caught up with me

Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

Well Today I decided to open the belly of the camper. I wanted to run some wiring, insulate allot better and inspect for wear and tear.
I sure was surprised to see that there was missing insulation, water lines just hanging with no support and worst off, the frame supporting the water tank broken.
The welding in the tank compartment is literally crap.
Here are pictures of the busted framing on the water tank
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02014.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02016.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02015.jpg
I wanted to weld them back together, but I decided against. Instead I decided to use mechanical fasteners.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02027.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02028.jpg
Once I had the water tank secured I inspected all the welds.
I think the welder at Lance is smoking funny weed on the job. The welds holding the black tank and grey water tank are all tack welds. So I used mechanical fasteners on them too.
Below is an example of the factory cross support holding up the grey tank.I have since fixed it.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02018.jpg
Another thing I noticed is that the heat duct for the dump compartment was completely crush between the bottom board of the camper and the black waste tank, so no heat was reaching the dump compartment
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02019.jpg
Well anyway I believe I have everything fixed and supported properly
Next I ran some wiring, there are two empty fuse locations in the panel so I ran wiring from them, and one is a 10awg that runs to the dump compartment. This will run heat pads on my dump valves. The next wire I ran to an access panel one the side. It is there for future use. As I was running wire I also supported and tied up the water lines
Insulation time
The next 2 pictures show pink insulation, there was 0 insulation in these spots, above the insulation in the first photo is the drain for the shower and water lines. On our last winter trip I had the shower water supply line freeze up…now I know why.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02032.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02033.jpg
Next was insulating under the water tank.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02027.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02029.jpg
If you look closely at the picture above, you can see aluminum channels under the tank. These were left un insulated from the lance factory. I took a whole five minutes and 8 dollars’ worth of 1 inch r5 foam insulation and filled them in.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02030.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02031.jpg
While I was insulating I notice a bolt stickin down. It’s part of the clamp for the grey water tank.
Well this bolt sticks right through the base of the camper and has rubbed a small dent in my box liner.
So I cut a about an inch off.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02034.jpg
Continued on insulating till the complete basement was sealed.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02038.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02037.jpg
Then I covered the pink foam with bubble insulation over the entire basement.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02040.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02039.jpg
Next I mounted a ¾ inch piece of pressure treated plywood to the bottom. The extra ¾ of an inch will lift the camper high enough to clear the new trucks bed rails safely .
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02042.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02041.jpg
Well that is it for that stage.
The next part to insulate is going to be the door side wing. There is a steel plate and right behind it un-insulated is the sink drain and part of the grey tank all I can fit in this spot is bubble insulation.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02035.jpg.
Also I’m modifying the dump compartment, moving the hose connection from under the camper to the front wing, no more reaching underneath to hook up the hose. I took off the bubble insulation and cover that area with spray foam. It is now a sealed and heated compartment.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02022.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02024.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02025.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02044.jpg
I am fabricating an aluminum plate to hold the water line drains, the drains will also be tied together into one hose and that will drain out and under the camper, no more water in the dump compartment.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/insulation/DSC02043.jpg
Well I think that’s it for now, kind of looking forward to a nice cold day in the mountains, play in the snow all day and then sit back in a nice cozy camper enjoying the surroundings and not worrying about what’s frozen now!
Have fun

RE: "Sodium Free Drinking Water" in batteries?

K I have to jump in
you can use bottled/filtered water..but you will still get some of the minerals that cause build up on your batteries led plates.
Distilled water is not boiled water, it’s the captured steam from boiling water. The minerals stay in the boiling and the steam rises and condenses.
this water is allot easier on your batteries resulting in longer life and less maintenance.
Make your own
