RE: did you buy an rv for your pet?

Yes it was a very big part. We even remodeled the engine hump to put a traveling bed between the driver's and co-pilot's seats with steps for the short legged dogs. Fits three dogs wide. Pulled the rocking chair behind the co-pilot's chair and put in a cabinet (microwave cart bolted down with wheels removed) to put the bird cage on. Bird rode on my shoulder and “helped” drive. Left the dogs home only once and did not enjoy the vacation as much. The bird died last year and we left the cabinet in for the space it provides. At night the little dogs (2) sleep next to our bed on an extension so they are at the same height. The medium dog sleeps on the traveling bed.

RE: Ford Flashing Overdrive Button & Service Engine Soon UPDATE

Fourtytwo, Thanks for the information. Your description seems to be what my transmission was doing. Did you have the flashing OD light too?

RE: Ford Flashing Overdrive Button & Service Engine Soon UPDATE

Thanks for the fast replys! I have a reader but not at the time I parked it so I couldn't check for codes. I have had VSS issues in the past but only when pulling into the driveway when the rear wheels hit the driveway lip and the rear end bounced up not in any sense violently. The motor would die and the check light would come on. I would clear the code VSS code and move on. I hate that this is going to haunt me until spring when I get it out of storage. I just hope it will drive okay then and I will take it directly to Ford. Hope it is ground, or something simple. Ford Truck Enthusiast had a thread that was exactly like mine and it was the F23 fuse needing replaced. I had the transmission serviced in 2009 and all was well then. I have less than 30,000 miles on the motorhome. With all the other family issues, this is way down on my "todo list" for now. Just a few weeks ago, it would have been right up there. Thanks for all the replys. It will be awhile before I post a resolution. I forgot to mention I did the Ford fix on the water ingestion back in 2004.

Ford Flashing Overdrive Button & Service Engine Soon UPDATE

UPDATE Got the Motorhome out of storage and took it to Midway Ford Truck Center in Kansas City. I talked with the Service Manager in the Light Truck Service Department and he checked for the part noted in the TSB for the grounding issue and reported back that the part was now obsolete but that he had the instructions and was sure a technician could make a replacement. I had no problems when I got the Bounder out of storage and drove it to the dealer, but I had them check the grounding straps and do the TSB anyway. There were a few leaking radiator claps and other minor issues that were fixed too. Hopefully this fixed the issue. Repair for he TSB was just under $370.00. Worth it to me if it works. Thanks for all the responses to my issue! Dave T. When parking the Bounder for the winter in the caves, 1/2 mile from the caves the overdrive button started flashing at the stop light and then the motorhome seemed to search for low gear when I started from the stop. Light went out when I got up to 45 and seemed to be running correctly. When I got to the parking space the OD started flashing and then the "service engine soon" lig came on. Due to family medical issues, I am unable to get to this for a few months. OD light was off during trip. It was raining off and on during 14 mile trip. Anyone have this happen to them and what the fix required? Midwest Ford Truck Center in Kansas City is just a few miles from the caves and they have worked on the Bounder before if it is something I can't do myself. 2000 Ford in signature. Thanks.

RE: Have you damaged your car while being towed?

Supercub, I destroyed two front tires on my Wrangler when I forgot to unlock the stearing wheel. No damage to the Jeep, just my pride.

RE: Hancock Tires

I replaced Goodyears with AH-11's and have had no issues. Saved enough to go to a higher ply too.

RE: nest building in Onan generator area

I had found a bird's nest inside my genset and waited until the birds hatched and moved out. I then bought a couple of wooden snakes at ACE Hardware for $1.50 each and wire tied one hanging from the bottom of the genset. Haven't lost a snake and the birds have stayed away for going on three years now. I would assume the rodents would stay away too.
