RE: Going from F250 to F350 - would you?

I think it is what you need and what suits your needs.
If you ask a question like that you will always get the "do it now" comments from the folks that own the dually.
i am happy with my SRW and also don't have the big butt to contend with.
it suits my needs.

RE: Bathroom Tissue

this brings to mind a post from way basck in which someone said to save the paper that you have used in a paper bag by the toilet.
Maybe I am making this part up but does it not make cute colors when you toss the stuff in the camp fire. :B

RE: wholesale rv dealers....annoy me ....

The wholesale guys are in business to sell new.
Besides I agree with other folks that trading is just giving your oldie away.
Most RV stealers will do a trade without even looking at what you are trading in.

RE: aux fuel tank 2011 f-350 dually

I have had a 65 gallon Titan in my '11 F350 DRW for about a year with no problems. It was expensive at $1500 installed. I talked to a guy who installed a Northern Tool gravity tank himself; spent about $600. I think I'd go this way in future. Fwiw 65 gallons total has been a good number for me. I get from 8-10 mpg when towing my 18k trailer so the range is all I need.
that is about what I spent on my RDS tank plus I had it custom made to the size I wanted. They shipped it from Perry FL to the nearest truck terminal. Slick.

As I recall there are bsarb and screw on fittings that work well also.
It depends on your needs, in some applications shark bites are the cats meow.

RE: Wheel chock recommendations

My Bal X's work great for me.
I sold my aluminum tripod while camping in FL last winter for 50 bucks. That thing was an octapus to live with.
I now use the X's and a set of stabs that form a cross between the front legs. Think they are Wind something or other.
I did not go with JT's because of the price and also the X's took care of fore and aft movement for me

RE: Walmart batteries....

i like them. Got a couple in the F 250 now that I can't remember when i bought them.
Me, I always check cells with a hydrometer before I go in and complain if under warranty or thinking of replacement.
That is currently my battery of choice. :h

RE: 2002 8.1 engine tick

I've had engine tics through the years and always found them by taking a 3 or 4 foot section of water hose, putting one end next to may ear and then taking the other end and slowly moving it all over the engine until the tic suddenly gets louder. This has worked numerous times.
When I bought my first new car, a 1976 Ford Elite, I had an engine tic. The dealership ended up pulling the heads and supposedly fixing bad valve lifters. All of this under warranty. When I got the car back after two weeks the noise was exactly the same. A few days later while I was home I took a piece of water hose laying on the garage floor and just used it as a stethascope (spelling) and found my noise. A small metal tube coming up from the intake manifold and going into some type of a disc shaped object near the rear of the carburetor had actually cracked and pulled up out of the disc shaped can. I pushed it back down and the noise went away!!!
Another time I had a bearing squeal coming from somewhere and found it using the water hose method, a bad bearing on the distributor shaft.
Noises can be hard to trace but don't always involve massive internal engine problems. Intake or exhaust areas are prime suspects.
Good luck
In my old days I noticed that Harbor Freight markets a real economical engine stethascope. I don't use a piece of broom handle any more.

RE: 7.3 Diesel Question

Sure ORilleys had a scanner that would hook up to my 7.3.
However with the alternator/batt icon illuminated on the dash it showed no codes.
A rebuilt alternator fixed it.

On the one I had, greasing the slip joint on the yoke at the trans would fix it but it would come back - always

RE: Getting a Do-Over

I can't quote you all the numbers on the power strokes but there is noticeable performance difference once you get into year 99. There is even a difference betweenn early and late 99'S.

RE: Problem with front bedroom slide. help please

On the two bedroom slides of mine I had to do repairs on it was not that hard of a job to stand the mattress up on its side to the front of the trailer, then take out the sheeting that is under the mattress and check out the framing and slide mechanism.
My problems were readily recognizable.
I think you are gonna have to take a look.
glad to see ya got it fixed. Just goes to show you that a blind squirrel can always find an acorn. :W

RE: Green pump and green handle does not equal DIESEL fuel

Whoah, Iffin I did something like that I would not tell the whole world.
On those Ford stealerships. My antique 99 psd started smoking like a train in SC last winter. I took it to the super know it all power stroke local dealership techie. He said sorry about the bad news, but it will take 10 to 15 grand to get you fixed up. I dumped a gallon of two cycle oil in the tank and motored/smoked across country to a place I knew was reputable. It took an exhaust back pressure sensor and the no 8 injector and it purred like a kitten. :h
That is my story and I am sticking to it with 176K on the clock.

I did not keep track of the outside air temps over the years, but i overnight in Walley's with the one baattery and the furnace on a respectrable setting. However it is a no go on the second night.
I think you should see how you get along with the one batt and go from there.
