RE: Extra fuel filter

I realize that this was in the 80's but I had a 6.2L diesel and got fuel at a major truckstop along I90 in Ohio. It was a bad load of fuel and almost immediately plugged the filter up. Did not carry an extra filter then and learned a lesson. I understand that the new filters are better but it can't hurt to have one. JMHO In that case, the new filter would have blocked right up too...a bad tank of fuel would need to be removed...THEN a new filter installed :h I also do not understand this one. How can you cure a bad load of fuel with a filter? I often wonder why it is a big deal to carry an extra filter for a diesel when I doubt if anyone carries one for the gas autos on the road?

RE: Lift Pump for Diesel

It's cheap insurance. There is little to no indication when a lift pump goes bad as the hight pressure fuel pump will continue to suck fuel out of the tank. However, it's very hard on the pump and it will eventually kill it. Death of a HPFP carries with it a repair bill in the $3,000 range. if your stock one got you this far, why go aftermarket?

RE: Are duallies much more stable than singles ?

If the DRW has the same spring spacing and spring rate as the SRW, and the same roll bars, then the DRW is gaining you nothing more than a bit of blow-out protection. In fact, the duals are giving the top of the load more leverage on the springs, actually increasing roll. If you're going to invoke physics, then be accurate. we musta went to the same physics class :h there are some real wild "physics" and other proclamations here. I kinda like normal profile butts so will never have a dually. he he, maybe we could pull the spring perches in closer to the center of the axle and have a tipplee. think we are talking real mega stability here just because of how many tires would be on the ground and the width of the butt would still be the same :B

RE: Poo problems!

Old Biscut's suggestion has worked for me for years. The poop pyramid is no biggie. Blast it out of there. :C I thought we discussed toilet paper a bazillion times? :h

RE: Question, makeing 911 calls when your not home

shooker, you got totally fleeced. 100% wrong Also just about any cell phone now a days that don't have a crank on the side emits a signal that can be traced to within 10 yards or less any time any where. That is why Tony Soprano and his folks always took the battery out of the cell phones when important business had to be discussed. :B

RE: Slide Question with Rain

If your slides are adjusted properly there should be no standing water on them. I have never had any water come in. X2 Same for me and with more than one fifth wheel.

RE: Auxiliary Fuel Tank System

why the big deal about filtering and water separating from the aux to the main? You use the same nozzel at the station to fill up the main. So why can't you trust the same nozzle at the station to fill up the aux. sure Ok the ole condensation story. I been running gravity feed from the aux to the main with no "extra" filters and separators for years -no problems. :h

RE: What to do with water in the floor insulation ?

Our shower floor drain cracked underneath the shower floor and has let what must be a fair amount of grey water into the space between the trailer floor and the underneath insulation. I think the grey water must be trapped just above the underneath lining ? What shall I do ? Drill a hole in the lining to let the water drain out ? Let it dry out ? This is the second ABS drain pipe failure we've had on coming back to the trailer after leaving it here in the Arizona summer ! I think this has happened because the ABS was screwed onto a metal drain coming out of the shower floor. I suspect the metal expanded in the heat more than the ABS plastic ? You have to remove the insulation, it will not dry out. If the insulation is left behind, mold will develop... X2, it will just get moldier and stinkier and cause rust and rot havoc.

RE: First Real long trip

When the kids (and us!) were young, we would pack them in the back of the van with the VCR (not DVD!) and leave like 3:00 PM. Once it got dark, the kids would go to sleep, and we would take turns driving straight thru, arriving in South Florida mid morning. Now we (and our eyes) are older, the kids are gone, and we have the trailer. We do like 8 hours a day max, and pull into a cheapo campground at dark. yeah I know the feeling well. Now that the youngest is 40, life is a beach. :R

RE: alignment

What Timmy sid. My experience is that heat is the indicator of a tire being out of alignment on a trialer. Tires that are hotter than others are scuffing or something.

RE: Subruban Gas Water Heater

I don't know what panel you are talking about but there is a switch on mine that is located inside the outside panel for access to the heater.
