RE: Just Ordered a 2013 Cedar Creek 34rlsa

We have a 2006 Cedar Creek and a 2006 F350 diesel dually. I spent 28 years driving 18 wheelers and would not pull my fiver with a single rear wheel one ton. You need a dually for that trailer. We also have an SUV for every day use. Once in a while I will exercise the dually and go to the big box stores. I can park it in the handicap spots with no problems. I have even taken it to doctor appointments. Come on man up and get a dually, its not that hard for every day driving. :W

RE: Well, this is good news!

There seems to be different views as to what the end of the world will be. Some think of most of man kind dieing off with a few survivors. Others think of the world/planet being totally destroyed.
I think the second one fulfils destruction. The end. No longer exists. The first one seems to only be a drastic change to life and the world/planet still exists.

RE: Another question on knee replacement.

I'm just about one month away. June 12 is the day. I'm almost tempted to call the doc and ask to be put on the cancellation list. If someone cancels maybe I can get it done sooner.

Another question on knee replacement.

My left is the one that is being replaced first. Then the right will be done. Seeing how the left knee is bone on bone I use a cane on the right side. Now my right knee is hurting worse then the left knee. Could using the cane on my right side be causing this?

RE: Now I need a knee replacement.

Jack, thanks for your detailed report. It was encouraging. If I have half the recovery results you had I will be a happy camper. After my left knee is recovered enough I will have the right knee done.

Question on .177 Co2 pellet gun

Would one of these be enough to thin out the herd of tree rodents. They are populating like rabbits here. I know a .22 short would do it but I live in town. I checked with a friend who is a local LEO and he said the .177 is still a fire arm.

RE: Now I need a knee replacement.

Thanks to all for the good wishes. For those of you that had knee replacement. Are you able to kneel on your new knee ? My wife says she can't kneel on hers. But on one of the visits to the doctors office we meet a man that worked as a union plumber and he said he could kneel just like before his knee was replaced. So I guess its different for each person. Can any of you still kneel on your new knee?

Now I need a knee replacement.

My wife had both of her knees replaced at the same time. That was 17 years ago. Fifteen years after she had this done one of the replacement knees wore out and she had to have it replaced again. Now that is three knee replacements she has had. A couple of months ago her doctor said the other first replacement has to be replaced again. That will bring her up to four new knees.
Last week I went to the same doctor because both my knees were hurting me big time. He said that my left knee is bone on bone and needs to be replaced now. So that will be done on June 12 this year. Then he said I could get about one more year out of my right knee with a cortisone injection. So after I have my left knee replaced and I can get around again then my wife will have her fourth knee replacement. I asked the doctor to do her knee first but he said no. My knee was in worse condition.
I guess we will be the six million dollar couple.:W

RE: Older Diesel vs Newer Gas - Which to buy?

My vote goes to the 2006 5.4 gas. If it doesn't have a hitch then I guess it doesn't have a trans cooler either. If they tow lite like you mentioned they should be OK. But keep the cooler in mind just in case. Heat is the biggest killer of transmissions.

I told him that he had the toughest job in the military and that I appreciated the work that he does for the families of our fallen soldiers. The first officer and I got up out of our seats to shake his hand. He left the flight deck to find his seat.
> >
> > We completed our preflight checks, pushed back and performed an uneventful departure. About 30 minutes into our flight I received a call from the lead flight attendant in the cabin. 'I just found out the family of the soldier we are carrying, is on board', she said. She then proceeded to tell me that the father, mother, wife and 2-year old daughter were escorting their son, husband, and father home. The family was upset because they were unable to see the container that the soldier was in before we left We were on our way to a major hub at which the family was going to wait four hours for the connecting flight home to Virginia.
> >
> > The father of the soldier told the flight attendant that knowing his son was below him in the cargo compartment and being unable to see him was too much for him and the family to bear. He had asked the flight attendant if there was anything that could be done to allow them to see him upon our arrival. The family wanted to be outside by the cargo door to watch the soldier being taken off the airplane. I could hear the desperation in the flight attendants voice when she asked me if there was anything I could do. 'I'm on it', I said. I told her that I would get back to her.
> >
> > Airborne communication with my company normally occurs in the form of e-mail like messages. I decided to bypass this system and contact my flight dispatcher directly on a Secondary radio. There is a radio operator in the operations control center who connects you to the telephone of the dispatcher. I was in direct contact with the dispatcher. I explained the situation I had on board with the family and what it was the family wanted. He said he understood and that he would get back to me.
> >
> > Two hours went by and I had not heard from the dispatcher. We were going to get busy soon and I needed to know what to tell the family. I sent a text message asking for an update. I saved the return message from the dispatcher and the following is the text:
> >
> > 'Captain, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. There is policy on this now and I had to check on a few things. Upon your arrival a dedicated escort team will meet the aircraft. The team will escort the family to the ramp and plane side. A van will be used to load the remains with a secondary van for the family. The family will be taken to their departure area and escorted into the terminal where the remains can be seen on the ramp. It is a private area for the family only. When the connecting aircraft arrives, the family will be escorted onto the ramp and plane side to watch the remains being loaded for the final leg home. Captain, most of us here in flight control are veterans.. Please pass our condolences on to the family. Thanks.'
> >
> >
> > I sent a message back telling flight control thanks for a good job. I printed out the message and gave it to the lead flight attendant to pass on to the father. The lead flight attendant was very thankful and told me, 'You have no idea how much this will mean to them.'
> >
> > Things started getting busy for the descent, approach and landing. After landing, we cleared the runway and taxied to the ramp area. The ramp is huge with 15 gates on either side of the alleyway. It is always a busy area with aircraft maneuvering every which way to enter and exit. When we entered the ramp and checked in with the ramp controller, we were told that all traffic was being held for us.
> >
> > 'There is a team in place to meet the aircraft', we were told. It looked like it was all coming together, then I realized that once we turned the seat belt sign off, everyone would stand up at once and delay the family from getting off the airplane. As we approached our gate, I asked the copilot to tell the ramp controller we were going to stop short of the gate to make an announcement to the passengers. He did that and the ramp controller said, 'Take your time.'
> >
> > I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. I pushed the public address button and said, 'Ladies and gentleman, this is your Captain speaking I have stopped short of our gate to make a special announcement. We have a passenger on board who deserves our honor and respect. His Name is Private XXXXXX, a soldier who recently lost his life. Private XXXXXX is under your feet in the cargo hold. Escorting him today is Army Sergeant XXXXXXX. Also, on board are his father, mother, wife, and daughter. Your entire flight crew is asking for all passengers to remain in their seats to allow the family to exit the aircraft first. Thank you.'
> >
> > We continued the turn to the gate, came to a stop and started our shutdown procedures. A couple of minutes later I opened the cockpit door. I found the two forward flight attendants crying, something you just do not see. I was told that after we came to a stop, every passenger on the aircraft stayed in their seats, waiting for the family to exit the aircraft.
> >
> > When the family got up and gathered their things, a passenger slowly started to clap his hands. Moments later more passengers joined in and soon the entire aircraft was clapping. Words of 'God Bless You', I'm sorry, thank you, be proud, and other kind words were uttered to the family as they made their way down the aisle and out of the airplane.
> >

RE: Green pump and green handle does not equal DIESEL fuel

There already is a standard. Its called reading. DIESELgood for diesel truck. GASnot good for diesel truck. I too find it very hard to believe this much damage was done in 300 yards.

RE: Funny thing checking on airline tickets

My wife and I have been retired for 10+ years. Back in the 90s we used to fly from Philadelphia to Texas four times a year. That totally turned us off to ever flying again, and we haven't. We bought a truck and a fifth wheel and are now on our second fiver and truck.
We now have a need to travel to south west Virginia. To drive there from south jersey takes us 5 to 8 hours. I'm seriously considering getting my private pilots license. I have also been searching for a Piper Cherokee 140/180. I can buy a Cherokee for less then my diesel dually cost. ($38,000) The air miles from my general aviation airport is 210 miles. That is less then two hours in the Cherokee. For us that's a no brain-er.

How much difference is there between 720p and 1080p

Will you notice the difference in the picture on the TV screen between a 720p (or is it 780 p ) and a 1080p ? The 1080p cost more.

What will they put on the birth certificate ?

There is a story on the news about a women that gave birth on a plane at 35,000 ft. What will they show as the place of birth and who will issue the birth certificate?
The news did say that there was an OBGYN on the plane and she and the flight attendants helped with the birth. We all know that the mom did all the work. :W

RE: buying 1st r.v 5th wheel/truck

You can get some fifth wheels with the kitchen up front and the bed room in the rear. That should give you more then seven feet in your shower. Dutchman has one. http://www.rvingplanet.com/finder/fifth-wheels-front-kitchen/
