RE: Bilstein Shocks/Steering Damper

I also have air bags on the back. If you dont tow too much, you may not need air bags, or u could use timbrens or sumo springs instead, sort of like rubber bumper stops. I put timbrens on the front to help with front end dive and bottoming out with big potholes because it seemed that the front end was just overloaded even with bilsteins, and it made a big difference as well.
Finally, if u have a lot of rear end sag, then either air bags, timbrens, or helper springs would help, but bilsteins shocks alone wont address rear end sag. Air bags are adjustable but need maintainance. Timbrens or sumo springs are not adjustable but are easy to install. Helper springs help with suppport but stiffen the ride. So it depends on what handling issue u are trying to address, but u should still see a significant improvement with bilsteins and a steering stabilizer. I used steer safe
I have Bilsteins, Steersafe and Airlift air bags. This is the first I've heard of the timbrens. Has anyone else used them with success? My airbags are 9 years old and leak a little. Have to manually add air prior to every trip and I know they don't last forever. My Bilsteins are also 9 years old and have definately weakened. Going to replace them this summer.

49er Days in Death Valley

We have been to Death Valley many times, but never when they were having the 49er Days. Has anyone been there for the event which takes place every Novemeber? Any thoughts on going then?

RE: New Shocks for Class C

I installed Bilsteins myself on my E-350 back in 05 and I am about to replace them. They have 60K on them and don't feel like they did when I got them. I called the online shock dealer who I bought them from because I couldn't figure out which numbers to order. Seems Bilstein changed the numbers around. They make a set for class C's under 30ft and another over 30ft. They said I can use the over 30ft for a stiffer ride, but my E-350 is only 22ft and would probably ride too rough.
Bilsteins come with a Lifetime warranty. I would have to replace mine and send in the old shocks to Bilstein to check for defects. Not worth the trouble and shipping costs unless I see one has lost all its tension. Normal wear isn't covered.
If you want the online shock dealer that I used, send me a PM. Otherwise, shop around for the best price with free shipping if available.
I just checked it out and you take the same ones I do.

RE: Nat'l Park double site reservation problem?

Decided not to go because of weather and chains required. I have chains. Got decent refund. I see many others have cancelled because of the weather.

RE: Nat'l Park double site reservation problem?

Or you could tell the park to rent it if possible, then give you your money back if they do rent it.
The reservation was made thru Recreation.Gov. Their policy is to charge a $10 cancellation fee. If made lose to the reservation date, they deduct 1 night also. They usually rent it out quickly either online or at the reservation office.
But I want to use it and will. I've decided I'm not going to drive for 5 hours and give it up. If they give me any trouble, I will just wait near the reservation office and find a nice family needing a site to share mine for FREE.

RE: Nat'l Park double site reservation problem?

It's already paid for. Cost 50% more than the standard site. Cancelling would leave me with no site. Extra cost was not a factor. I have the senior discount National Parks pass. Site cost $15 per night versus $10 .
Just concerned about vacant area. I could put up a tent and extra chairs

Nat'l Park double site reservation problem?

We made a reservation at a National Park 5 months ago for a double camp site this weekend. We intended to go with our neighbors. The neighbors can't make it. We tried to find other friends and relatives, but with school starting back up and the threat of rain, no one wants to go.
The site says
•Min Num of People: 7
•Max Num of People: 12
•Max Num of Vehicles: 3
Now it looks like just the DW and I will be going with the MH. Can I expect some problems with the camp hosts or rangers? We don't want to cancel, as we have been wanting to do this trip.

I think DAS26miles had his awning fabric replaced at a Camping World for a pretty good price. He was happy with it.
EMD360, I paid $161.80 for the awning, $70.55 for shipping and only $60.50 for labor using a half off installation coupon at Camping World. Total was $308.63. Had it installed a year ago and have only opened it once since. It was ordered from the original manufacturer with same color and quality that came with the MH.

RE: Decal replacement project

Application: Use one of the very small red plastic form rollers (home depot). Do not use a lot of paint, if you get too much on the roller, run roller on a piece of paper to remove excess before applying. Do not press down on the roller, let it cover easily.
So you used a roller instead of spray paint. Interesting, I guess spray paint is less forgiving and tends to leave drips and globs if not done right.

When you paint instead of using the decals, how difficult is it to make the swirls using tape? What paint?

Are they keeping Badger Pass open beyond April 1st? Heading up late next week and hoping to go snowshoeing to Dewey Point and maybe Crane Flat to the Lookout.

RE: How do you get best MPG with Scanguage ll?

On my gauge it is labeled LPH
Thanks, I will have to use that one in a few weeks on our next trip to Yosemite. Mine is GPH.
I wish the ScangaugeII would have another 2 displays, as I don't like to be shifting the displays around while driving.

RE: How do you get best MPG with Scanguage ll?

Took the MH out camping a Rincon for 1 night before the downpour. Tried using the MPG and TPS and found it next to impossible to keep the TPS under 30. Was able to get it at 26-27 for a short while. Ended up with 9.8 mpg which was OK for a 150 mi round trip.

Mudchucker. What function is that litre per 100k. I don't see it on mine. Did you mean gallons per hour for me?

How do you get best MPG with Scanguage ll?

With the Ford V-10 in an E-350, what displays will help with the mpg? I see some posts say they get their best MPG at a certain speed. How do you find the sweet spot?

RE: leaving in a month or so for Alaska Which Route?

Can you drive from Seatle all the way to Anchorage or do you need to take a ferry? Can't I go east then north?
Checked out the fares for the ferry from Bellingham to Haines and it's $2500 one way with the motorhome. That's just one way. If I wanted to take a cruise, I would.

Is it dog friendly? I will always have my dog on a leash, but are there trails and paths we can walk with the dog? How about the beach?

RE: Upper Pines CG Trailer Limit

They have those limits because it can be next to impossible to back a trailer or large Mh. The roads are narrow and the camper across the road may have his vehicles parked so you can't make the turns to back in. I've seen many take up to an hour or more maneuvering. You just have to be lucky.
You can always park your TV at Curry or Trailhead parking.
