RE: Toadless C Owners, Do You Feel Limited?

No toad here either!! Our 24 foot Regency GT24 MB allows us to go most places and park easily. We plan ahead for shopping, sight seeing, etc., and park for the night when traveling. Also with the Basset Hound aboard we love the convenience the Regency offers, and ability to use the on-board generator for his air-conditioning needs while we shop, eat, or take a very short tour. We still never leave him if the temps are very hot in case the generator had a problem. We wouldn't be able to do this with a toad.
We did rent a 4 wheel drive SUV when we went to Glacier National Park so we could do the "Going to the Sun Road" and wander in the awesome National Forest areas in the vacinity.

RE: Looking at class c's

Triple E, a Canadian manufacturer in Winkler, makes a very well built Class C that is sold here in the USA. We purchased our 2012 Regency GT24MB at Van City in St. Louis. It is a 24 foot with a Murphy bed and small slide that really gives you loads of space for daily activiites. It's fit and finish is awesome, and has a large stand up shower and dressing area, as well. During the day, the U-Lounge is perfect for dining, entertaining, or relaxing while watching the 26" LCD TV. at night the U-Lounge converts to a sleeping space by folding down the dinette cushions and lowering the table. Then you pull down queen-sized murphy bed. We are super pleased with our new traveling wheels.

RE: Small C opinions

I don't know if you have heard of Triple E in Winkler, Canada, which has merged with Leisure Travel. They make a great quality 24 foot Class C unit on the Ford E-450 chassis with a slide, the Regency GT24MB (Grand Touring 24 foot Murphy Bed),that we just purchased Sept.6,2011. If you are looking for a smaller unit with ample daytime floor space this unit might be something you might want to look at. It comes without carpet in the main floor area, too!!
The Regency has a queen size Murphy bed that you pull down for sleeping. We have the U-shaped dinette and love all the extra space the Murphy bed gives us, plus it has a large very nice shower and bath area. It does have a small slide as well.
We are also super pleased with the quality of workmanship. The beautiful fit and finish is supurb, and we didn't even find a speck of sawdust when our unit arrived in Van City. It's considered an all weather unit with extra insulation, enclosed and heated tanks, dual pane windows, which help in the heat of summer as well as the cold.
We have toured the factory and were very impressed with the whole operation and their attention to details, plus their wanting to please and listen to their customers. We have also owned a Born Free, a Pleasureway Class B Van, and now consider the Regency to be the best quality RV we have ever owned. We just wish we had found a Murphy Bed unit several years ago and saved ourselves $$ in the hunt for the perfect unit for us.
Here is a link to the Regency GT24MB.

RE: Does bedrest for dog w/ heartworms mean no activity at all?

Our daughter rescued a racing greyhound who had heart worms and under went treatment. Their vet told them nothing more than a slow walk to the backyard for a potty break, to keep her quiet other wise, and to keep her out of the heat. She was treated in Arkansas in the summer. She came through the treatment with no problems, and is such a wonderful, sweet, loving dog.

RE: Triple e gtmb 24

We purchased a Regency GT24MB made by Triple E in Winkler, Canada September 2011. We are very pleased with our beautiful new traveling machine. We always said we would retire and have a "little cabin in the woods". We did that except our "little cabin in the woods" has wheels which allows us to change the woods when ever we like.
We are very pleased with the GT24MB and having the slide, the Murphy bed, and the large shower and dressing area has really given us the extra space we were looking for and still maintain the ease of driving and getting around with out a toad. So far it's the perfect fit for my husband and I, plus our seven year old Basset Hound, Bogie, that is our fur kid and traveling companion. We took several short trips last Fall plus one to Canada and can't wait to hit the road and start camping again in March.
To answer your questions:
Is it worth the price? In our opinion, yes! The quality of workmanship is supurb, beautiful fit and finish, and we didn't even find a speck of sawdust when our unit arrived in Van City. It's considered an all weather unit with extra insulation, enclosed and heated tanks, dual pane windows, which help in the heat of summer as well as the cold. We toured the factory and were very impressed with the whole operation and their attention to details, and their wanting to please and listen to their customers.
The lack of an oven??? It has an Apollo Half Time Oven which is a combination convection/microwave oven with the ability to cook and brown foods like a gas or electric oven in about half the time. There are four cooking modes: Half Time, Complete Meal, Convection and Microwave. We have been very impressed with it. For instance, using half time mode we cooked the frozen Pillbury biscuits that take 27 minutes in our home oven, and they came out beautifully done in 7 minutes.
The burners being close to all that nice white upholstery and no drip edge on the counter?? When I cook on the cook top I do have to be very careful about grease or any splatters getting on the u-lounge leather dinette seating that is right beside the cook top. I lay a towel acoss the leather seating to protect it. I have also sent a suggestion to the factory that future models have this problem addressed with some type of splash guard along that edge of the counter.
We are not beginning RV'ers and have owned over the years RV's from Pleasureway, Chinook, and Born Free. If the Regency GT24MB had come out many years ago it would have saved us a lot of trial and error and $$$$$ searching for the "right "RV for us.

RE: Seborrhea ** update 02/29/2012**

We took Bogie back to the vet yesterday. He is somewhat better with his skin issues, but he still gets outbrakes of the tiny bumps under the skin that turn into small scaly round spots. The grain free diet with The Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Salmon food has helped and his coat is so soft and shiny and he seems to shed less. He also poops a lot less!
The vet put him back on an antibiotic and wants us to just continue with the weekly medicated baths and spray treatments with the Genta Spray for the seborreah. Bogie's pyoderma (bacterial folliculitis) on his chin and lips is also back (turns the hair green on his lips where he drools constantly and itches). He switched the antibiotic and will keep him on it longer this time. He said we'll probably be dealing with this from now on and may end up on keeping him on a maintenance antibiotic. Otherwise he was pronounced healthy and fit. He was pleased that Bogie has lost 2 pounds, now 55 pounds, due to the new food and said he looks great!!
After we got home I took some new pictures. The orange pansies are so pretty right now I couldn't resist getting Bogie to pose in the middle of them. You would never know that we are University of Tennessee fans.

We have stayed in Moab Valley RV Resort. Very nice, clean, close but shaded sites with grass patches in between rigs. Close to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Make reservations ASAP because they stay full.

RE: Seborrhea ** update 02/29/2012**

Doug,
Thanks for your reply. The first thing our vet did was check Bogie's thyroid level, and it was OK. What type of Omega oil supplement would you recommend? Can we use the fish oil capsules that my husband and I take? How many mgs. would a 55 pound Basset need? Thanks!!

Seborrhea ** update 02/29/2012**

** Just to up date - Still having same issues after two rounds of antibiotics so back to the vet last week. This time he did several skin scrapings of the spots to run cultures which came back today. Bogie has a staph skin infection so a new antibiotic for two weeks to see if there is any improvement. If so he will be on it for another four weeks to hopefully totaly clear up this skin issue. He is now on Amoxicillin-Clav 250 mg twice a day for the next two weeks. We have been using the Benzoyl Peroxide which Dr. Doug suggested on the spots and that really helps, plus the weekly medicated baths.**
Original Post: We have a Basset Hound who will be seven in April. Bogie is doing great except for skin issues that started last September. The vet says it is a type of seborrhea, and Bassets can be prone to get it. It tends to erupt with a vengeance, and then gets better. Bogie gets tiny bumps under the skin, that then turn into small scaly circles with irritated center, mostly on his back, rump, and sides. Some times up to 15 to 20 small spots, that heal with treatment, then a few more will appear.
Bogie is on weekly medicated baths with Keratolux Medicated Shampoo. We suds him up and let it sit for the required 10 - 15 miuntes. He is also on Genta Topical Spray for the spots. We switched him to a grain free diet three months ago. We are using Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream CanineĀ® with Smoked Salmon and High Prairie Canine with Roasted Bison & Roasted Venison. We are also using grain free treats. His coat is beautiful soft, silky and shiny, and his poop is less and much firmer that before, another plus from the diet change!! We don't know what else to do for him.
We do use flea and tick treatment monthly, and our Vet has changed Bogie to Vectra. With camping and the ticks abounding in the woods here, plus fleas are a fact of life since there are feral cats, possums, and raccoons wandering through the neighborhood, doing without would be a real problem. Our vet says Bogie's skin problems should not be related to Vectra. ????
So far we haven't gone the canine dermatologist route and that can only be done with our Vet's referral. It's really big bucks to go that route here in our area. Thankfully the itching doesn't bother him because we stay on top of things and do daily spray treatments. Any ideas on what else we could try would be appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Pets & RV Steps

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/classbgirl/700pixBogieonrampbest.jpg
A Basset's short legs and RV steps are not a good mix. My husband made our ramp using a 1 x 10 board which he covered with two bath mats. He used screws and large washers to hold the mats in place. You will have to adjust and saw off to the length needed from the ground to the entrance. Just don't make it to steep. Much cheaper than a bought ramp.
We started Bogie by first laying the board on the ground and got him used to walking on it with treat rewards. Then we raised it using bricks, and finally into the RV. We also use it for our Saturn that's in the picture. Works great, is fairly light weight, and stands in the corner of RV secured with a bungie cord.

RE: Looking for a bit larger RV than my Class B Pleasureway

We had a Pleasure Way, went to a 22 foot B "Built for Two" Born Free, and now have a 2012 Triple E Regency GT24MB (Grand Touring 24 foot Murphy Bed), which we love. We just wished Triple E had started making this model years ago, because it would have saved us money and trial and error to find the perfect RV for us. It has a small slide and the murphy bed folding up really frees up the space, plus it has a shower and bath that is awesome. It is made in Canada, great guality workmanship with awesome fit and finish, super insulated which is great in hot or cold weather, and Van City in St. Louis is where we purchased ours.

RE: planning trip to wymoning any tips

A very nice campground in Sheridan,WY is Peter D's RV Park off I-90 on Joe Street. We stay there every year on our way to Helena, MT. Run by very nice folks. It has a great dog run area, too. A good place to eat in Sheridan is the Wyoming Rib and Chop House. They have a night time trolley in Sheridan that takes you from the RV park to downtown after Memorial Day.
Cody, WY has an awesome western museum that you can spend hours in called the "Buffalo Bill Historical Center".

In reguard to the picture I posted of Gouldings of our site: I just found, after some digging, our campground sheet. The site our Born Free is on is site #44. Site 45 is the empty one right beside us. No one was there so we had a very nice view of the valley.

This is a picture from June 10, 2010 when we stayed at Goulding's for three days. Nice spot, but I don't remember the number. We had a delicious meal at their dining room, enjoyed seeing the very nice gift shop, museum on site, and the "Earth Spirit" and "Among the Momuments" short movies at their theatre have beautiful photography and really explain the geography and history of the area. Lots of history on John Ford movies. We took day trips from there to Mexican Hat to eat at the "Swinging Steak" (delicious) and Natural Bridges.
Do be aware if you have dogs that the Navajo dogs run free through the campgrounds and just about anywhere on tribal land. We had no problems, but did keep a close watch. Also be prepared to have red dust everywhere and red shoes. We got caught in one bad dust storm on the way to Canyon De Chelly. It was an awesome trip.

If you interested in a good used small coach the Born Free factory in Iowa has several 22 foot coaches in their pre-owned stock. We had a Born Free, and they are very nice quality made, durable coaches. They also have three roll bars for safety which is a nice feature.
