RE: Is this type of plug OK with an Atwood water heater?

I think warranty is void if you use that.

RE: fridge cooling

Overnight. Ours is always on when traveling, except for in the few tunnels that have signs saying to turn it off.

RE: Locked out!!!

Locksmith opened ours quickly when our lock jammed.

RE: vent screens

Not a TC, but I installed Camco screens on fridge, water heater, and furnace openings on side of TT. Keeps them out. Worked for 15 years so far. Never had them in A/C yet. Around here they stay fairly low. I always watch when putting hand under coupler for example, or in wheel wells if parked awhile (months).

RE: Small All Weather Trailers

Look at a Casita. Small, and built tight and solid. Loved ours.

RE: Beware GMAC Insurance

My GMAC rates stayed the same this year.

RE: First time traveling long distance

Our fridge is always on when traveling, and we often go for months. Note 8 hours a day is a HARD thing to do towing. We use campgrounds, even for overnight. Safer, electric, water, dump.

RE: Looking to soften the ride

IMHO weigh all four wheels when fully loaded. Then look at tire manufacturers charts to find the recommended tire pressure for that weight. Note use the higher weight to get optimum pressure on a per axle basis. Might be worth trying. Overinflated tires usually give a horrible ride.

RE: finding max trailer weight for SUV

Rons got good numbers. Note most folks add about 1000# or more to the TT UVW when they load up.

RE: 30 amp and 50 amp electric question

All 50a pedistals that I've seen also have a 30a plug-in. You should be fine. This is not always true. I have been to several RV Parks that only had a 50 amp connector. Had to use a dogbone to plug in my 30 amp RV. We've been to quite a nuymber of places over the years that had only 20 or 50. In fact camped next to a person recently to whom I loaned an adapter. He was going to "boondock" in a full hookup 50 amp site as he had no adapter for his 30 amp rig.

RE: Slide roof sloping towards trailer

Slide on my Keystone slopes AWAY from main TT body when main body is perfectly level.

RE: Disconnect battery before arc welding on frame?

IMO DISCONNECT BATTERY at battery itself unless POSITIVE that disconnect switch removes ALL connections. A battery is pretty much a short for high freq pulses. You do NOT want those to get to a control board.

RE: Maxxis tire availability

Yes my local store sells me tires under 6 months old. That is agreed when I place order. Had no problems doing that in over 20 years. Works for me.

Here's Lou

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on... If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, 'Who's on First?' might have turned out something like this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you? COSTELLO: Thanks I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer. ABBOTT: Mac? COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou. ABBOTT: Your computer? COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one. ABBOTT: Mac? COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou. ABBOTT: What about Windows? COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here? ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows? COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows? ABBOTT: Wallpaper. COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software. ABBOTT: Software for Windows? COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have? ABBOTT: Office. COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything? ABBOTT: I just did. COSTELLO: You just did what? ABBOTT: Recommend something. COSTELLO: You recommended something? ABBOTT: Yes. COSTELLO: For my office? ABBOTT: Yes. COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office? ABBOTT: Office. COSTELLO: Yes, for my office! ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows. COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need? ABBOTT: Word. COSTELLO: What word? ABBOTT: Word in Office. COSTELLO: The only word in office is office. ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows. COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows? ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue 'W'. COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue 'W' if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? Do you have anything I can track my money with? ABBOTT: Money. COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have? ABBOTT: Money. COSTELLO: I need money to track my money? ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer. COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer? ABBOTT: Money. COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer? ABBOTT: Yes. At no extra charge. COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much? ABBOTT: One copy. COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money? ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money. COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money? ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT! àA few days laterß ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you? COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off? ABBOTT: Click on 'START'

RE: Maxxis tire availability

Careful, last time I checked, Tire Rack would not even guarantee their "new" tires would be under three years old per DOT code! In fact they wouldn't guarantee ANY maximum age.

RE: Mandatory vehicle coverage with GMAC?

I called GMAC directly also. Yup, State Farm has taken excellent care of me for way over twenty years, but their TT insurance was weay out of line..

RE: Is it time for new tires?

Check with Discount Tire. They have a web site also. Last time I needed tires they got me 5 month old Maxxis in a week.

RE: Breaker Trips on Shore Power and not on Generator

What is VOLTAGE when A/C is running. I'll bet low voltage at campgrounds. Common problem, fixable with an autoformer. Of course turning off water heater should help. If voltage goes below 110 VAC for more than a few seconds, turn your A/C off. It may be tripping breaker instead of butning itself up due to low voltage.

RE: Brakes and Bearings --- How Often to Service?

Your manual, write by lawyers, likely says every year. Personally on our dual axle TT I disassemble ONE hub a year to hand pack and check brake parts. We do about 8500 miles per year. Current TT has EZ-Lube, so the other three hubs get a squirt of grease every spring.

RE: Water pumps

If we are not using it, it is off. Why risk a leak. Have heard of folks waking up to water all over floor from leak and pump running. Water helps cool pump. If it runs very long without water, it will likely be toast. Our water heater is only on when we need hot water. That saves everyone money.
