Dometic RM7401 3 way fridge question...

Hi,
Does anyone in B-land have one of these? I assume so. Mine is functioning with all three power choices but seems less robust (slower freezing and cooling in general, lukewarm venting) than earlier years on the propane mode, which is our "default" setting.
Among the possibilities:
I read in the Tech section about the merits of burner cleaning. I took off the outside access covers and saw that the burner is very small and not easily accessible so I stopped that line of reasoning for now.
I'm running an experiment on direct electrical setting to see if there is any difference at a given thermostatic setting between propane and electrical power.
After that I'll try a higher thermostatic setting to see if that overcomes the deficiency.
I am very careful to use the fridge when level... it's always off in storage because it's parked on a slope.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jay

RE: LED Bulbs

I like LED's to avoid heat too. We have a few LED's in play along with a few factory supplied oldies.

One off topic comment:
AsheGuy said, "Check our blog in signature for our travels including two trips to Alaska."
I'm jealous! TWO Alaska trips! And we thought getting to Jasper was a big deal.

Gen is noisy.
Diesel is 10-20% premium expense.
Otherwise... it's great.

RE: Merry Christmas

"The long drive south to the keys took several days indeed;
My wallet for fuel just continued to bleed."
Sweet poem! We were in the area too... from 12/19-today 12/28.
Turned 62 and the proud owner of a NPS Senior Pass. Five nights at Long Pines CG in Everglades NP. Pretty darn warm. Then a few in Ft. Myers area. Day trips to Captiva. TIP: Get on the island by 9AM to find parking and stay late.

RE: The Class B makes a great Bug Out RV

Mike,
I enjoyed your perspective on the basic needs for a BOV. It reminded me how over the top our B really is... but we like it.

RE: "NEW" to us 2006 Leisure Travel Free Spirit LSS

Welcome aboard!
NCWriter alerted you to the turbo resonator issue.
I'd like to add a comment about braking. Use lower gears on downhill runs to save the brakes. They are very expensive to change... maybe $700-1000 range. Ouch!

RE: tires for my 07 RS Adventurous Roadtrek

Finally a topic I can comment on with some certainty.
Opinion: As a 5.5 yr. Adventurous owner who experiences the same speedometer and wind issues, and who is on my second set of tires, I say, "Don't tinker, adjust to the speedometer and wind, slow down and enjoy the ride."
Replace the tires with the same sized tires... we did.

RE: Interesting video of construction & usage of Fiat B's

I just saw a Ducato at Rocky Knob CG, VA last weekend. I'm not good at reading the license plate, German or Dutch maybe. Unit looked new and very sleek. It made my 2006 Sprinter look tired.
Sorry no pics...:(

RE: basic question about the different holding tanks

OP Said: Hello. We just bought a Krystal Motorhome, Class B Sprinter Van conversion.
Don't know if the chassis choice matters but we have a Class B Sprinter and concur that the holding tank gauges are not accurate.
The propane gauge is pretty accurate and quickly comparable to the gauge on the propane tank.

RE: Replacement Batteries for our "B"

I had our coach batteries changed after five years use at Batteries Plus for about $225 total. I watched the process... they did a careful job cleaning out the box and included one corroded cable in the price.

RE: Roadtrek RS Adventurous and Gulfstream Vistacruiser MB

"The newer models with the V6 are a little longer than the older I5 models but the driver position is a lot more "car like" than the I5. Very comfortable."
I have never driven the "6" so I csn't compare the driving comfort factor vs. "I5" For whatever reason, MY BACK and EYES says the Sprinter is the BEST ride in my stable especially for long distances. Only MY EARS prefer the cars.
I have never had the CCC issue come into play.

RE: Increased Range

Applegater siad, "but right now we have the 500 mile range with 100-150 miles in reserve."
Really!?! I say 450 miles is the safe range... especially remote areas. Am I to believe your tank is bigger than 26 gallons?
To the original poster: I was advised NOT to use Biodiesel fuel in our Sprinter.

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

First entry on this thread...
Replaced deteriorated steps with new grip tape. Replaced temperamental thermostat in fantastic fan.
Everything else holding up well... knock on wood.
