RE: Sorry state of fuel in North America

Well, I thought only diesel was filtered at most retail outlets. Never seen a filter on a gas pump!
I also have never seen a filter on a gas pump but I have also never seen anyone replacing filters regardless of type of fuel.
I stopped at a station where new pumps were being installed and asked about filters. Guy doing the installing said they have filters in the top section before the nozzle.

RE: Sorry state of fuel in North America

Not saying that fuel is not filtered at stations but I question how often they are changed to prevent one from receiving contaminated fuel.
Compare the number of times you fuel up versus the number of times the pump is turned up and then think about the number of times you have seen a cover off the pump and someone changing a filter that is not much larger than the one on your pump. Seems to me that filters would need replacing at least once a week and I don't see that happening. Only time I see a cover off a pump is when someone is doing a repair and the nozzle has a plastic bag over it because it was taken out of service

RE: whats your career?

My current title is Sr Process Scientist at a human diagnostic test manufacturer; I'm a research chemist (PhD) by training and have been for 21 years.
My son has a PhD in Polymer Chemistry. Didn't think he would ever get out of school. Only child and after 12 years of marriage, they had our first grandchild. They are holding her hostage in Wilmington, DE. :(
I retired from a major oil/chemical manufacturing company after 34 years at age 57 and am now nearing 64. Moved back to Texas from Louisiana 2 years ago. Sure miss the food and friends.
In my spare time I have joined a veterans group and we perform funerals for veterans. Very satisfying. Unfortunately, there are not enough of us and we average 4-6 funerals weekly. Seeing more and more of us Viet Nam vets passing away.

RE: Million Mile Chevy Duramax LBZ

Don,
Which is it? 1,000,000 miles not a big feat for a diesel OR 300K?

RE: New Orleans to The Woodlands TX

Headed to Montana next month from Orange, Texas. I will be taking I-10 to Beaumont and then take Hwy 90 to the Beltway 8. Almost no traffic from Beaumont to Barrett. I take this route by car to visit friends in Crosby. 1960 between Huffman and I-45 is usually a nightmare.
I can not find out how to handle tolls on the Beltway 8. There are no manned toll booths on the north east side. Been told they will snap the license plate and sent me a bill with a small up charge. Also been told that I should exit off Beltway 8 prior to the cameras and get on the feeder roads. Feeder roads are almost all 2 lanes and in good shape..
Now sure how I will handle that.

That's what I suspected, I'll call them first thing in the morning.

RE: Medicare Help

I suggest you call 1-800-MEDICARE. When the FIL had to be suddenly placed in a nursing home, he did not have they drug plan because he was using the VA for medication. Was afraid he would be penalized. Because it was a "life changing event" he was not penalized. They were fantastic. They can help select the best drug plan if you need it.
If you call have a list of medications and any other info. you can think of. They man the phones 24/7. I was told to call after 8:00 P.M. my time. Live person answered after 2 rings. Gave me her name and how to reach her if I had any more questions.

They must have never worked it. The chronic overheating would have got them.

Overheating? Nonsense. Know anyone with a 2006 LBZ that overheats?

RE: Access to book marked sites.

I do have IE and under Internet Options the settings are the same on both computers but 1 computer does not allow me access under IE/MSN whereas Chrome does. I am satisfied enough with Chrome that I will install it on the second computer.
Chrome allowed me to use MSN as my browser and transferred all my favorites. Chrome, from what I can tell, does not allow favorites as a side bar but just under the browser in a link called: "Imported from IE". A click on it brings up my favorites link.
Under Internet Options/Security I have those 2 sites added as "Trusted Sites"
Thanks for your continued input.

Come on now guys. Supercharged makes a post and we have half of you guys agreeing with him. Is there someone out there who will call him a troll?
O.K., I will start. Super is off his meds. and trolling again.:B
Maybe, but I get a "charge" out of him. Ok, that was lame but I do get a kick out of his threads.

RE: Access to book marked sites.

Wittmeba-Getting familiar with Chrome. I have learned that it will take me directly to MSN when I click on it. This gives me pretty much the same options as I had and allowed me to download and keep all my favorites which was a concern for me. I have to click on a overhead link instead of having it down the side of an open page.
Where are the "configuration" pages you refer to?

RE: 2008 holiday rambler savoy lx

I have a 2007 32SKT LX with 3 slides. About 40,000 miles on it. Had to change the tires to new 16" rims and tires because of the ST's beginning to fail. Had a crack on the outlet nozzle of the black water tank that I repaired with JB Weld the first year I bought it and has not leaked again. No warranty issues and everything works as good as the first time I took it out. A mid-level entry rig that I would buy again. I think it is a good, solid rig that was a great value for the money.
Bought new bulb seals and a new fiberglass wheel skirt from Monaco in Oregon. Doesn't appear to be any problem with parts of that kind. Installed the wet bolt system 2 years ago and new brakes and drums last year. Wished I had replaced the drums with 8 bolts before I bought the new tires. Two of the Chinese shocks froze up and were replaced with Monroe's. A hairline crack developed and ran at an angle on hitch end of the bedroom slide after the second year. Runs from a screw holding the seal about 4 inches long. Has not gotten any longer the last 4 years. I believe the screw location caused it.
As with any rig, one should do a good check to make sure there has been no water damage. Look under the rig and see if the Coroplast has been cut. That would indicate that there may have been an issue in that area.
Check my profile and see the states I have drug it to. East coast, Kentucky, California and Grand Canyon have been visited twice. Will head to Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and both Dakota's next month.
You can P.M. me if you have any further questions. Good Luck.

RE: Access to book marked sites.

emiddleb-Changed from "Check Automatically" to your suggestion with no change.
Wittmeba-Changed to Chrome and now able to log on to the sites that I had problems with.
Will have to poke around to get familiar with a new browser. After several years with MSN, I will miss it.

RE: Replace stock shocks?

Changed the Chinese to Monroes. I believe there is a difference.
Regardless, one should check them. Two of the 4 were frozen up and 2 had no response. Believe the frozen ones may have prevented springs from flexing as they should.
