RE: Possible water damage?

Yeah I'm going to pick up some caulk and go over every seam I find. It's an 04' and I haven't recaulked anything so far so I know it could use it. It is just baffling me how the soft spot just appears in the middle of the wall. I could see if it came from a corner or something... Idk Last year I did have water pour out from the sink vent pipe which is located near the fridge. I wonder if that may have caused it. There was a lot of water that I had to clean up and some did get into the storage directly under the soft spot. Maybe it soaked up the wall not down which may explain the larger soft area lower... Checked the storage and it is soft there too. The area seems dry just soft...

Possible water damage?

Ok so I'm in my rear bunks doing a mid season deep clean and I notice an indentation in the wall just ahead of the window. Checking it out I see that it is soft. It doesn't feel wet but something must be leaking from somewhere. There are also some weird bubbles in the wall paper around where it is soft but also far from it too. Not sure if they were there before though. Here is a pic of what I found. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k101/b000yaaah/My%20Pics/b490d116.jpg You can see a line that runs from above my fingers down to the right and near the lower pointer the wall is very wavy and slightly wrinkled. The weird thing I'd there is really nothing near it that I could think of that would let water in. The soft spot starts from only 2ft from the bunk floor. Any ideas on where to start looking? The window in the pic is to the rear of the trailer from the soft spot so I don't think that is is the problem. My only other thought is maybe where the awning is attached which is above the soft spot. Maybe it could use some more caulk or the refrigerator is about 2ft to the left an maybe water is getting in through the exterior vent panel. I'm really hoping this isn't going to be a huge task. I would like to avoid ripping out any walls. Thanks Sean

RE: Towing a fiver?

Too big a 5er to use an adapter. I think it would put a lot of stress considering a pin weight of around 2500#'s

RE: Replacement panel/fender

Had the same thing happen to me and as you can see from my sig its still wavy with rubber marks. Its way too expensive for some sheet metal and plastic for me. I know that as soon as I fix it another will blow off and probably do the same damage...

homemade bunkbed ladder

It's made with cedar 2x4's, 2 1" strips of aluminum for hooks, and stainless screws. Also sanded it for a smooth finish. Just thought I would share just in case someone was trying to find one too. Made it in about 20 minutes. It's works great for my 3yr old daughter.

RE: Will it toe it.?

Too much trailer for that truck. Would look into a 3500 diesel...

RE: Landing gear lubrication?

Here is a link that shows how to modify the landing gear enabling easier lubrication of the internal screw.

RE: Landing gear lubrication?

If I understand the operation of these things correctly (and someone correct me if I am wrong), there is a screw mechnism inside of the legs much like a tongue jack on a TT or pup. The screw has a bevel gear on top of it. There is a horizontal shaft that goes from both jacks to the motor (or hand crank if the fiver was built in the stone ages). This horizontal shaft also has bevel gears on it. So if I am correct, I have greased my bevel gears. I have not lubed my screws or any of the telescoping parts of the legs (see sarman's post of 9:58 am today). I want to know -- how do I lube my screws and what do I lube them with? I think this is exactly what I need to do.. Thanks! I would think a lithium spray grease would work just fine. Even better would be a dry lubricating spray this way it wouldn't attract dirt/dust..

RE: Dexter Brake Shoe Break In Needed!!

Had the same issue here. The brakes did get better with time/miles. Just remember to give yourself some extra room when driving. One thing i did to help was at slower speeds just use you manual slider on you controller and just use the camper brakes to stop you. Helped me atleast.

Landing gear lubrication?

My landing gear has been making some noises like its dry especially when needing to extend or retract alot which causes the motor to strain. Is there anything that should be lubricated on a regular basis? If so what would you lube and using what kind of lube? I know the legs themselves have always been dry... Thanks, Sean

RE: Timbren question

I had 1" of spacing and the unloaded ride was unaffected in my 2003 RAM 2500. Now have Sig truck that has factory helper springs that work better than the Timbrens. Anyone wanna buy a Set of Timbrens used for 2 seasons?

RE: Rolling truck bed cover for fifth wheel

You could also raise your hitch height so you pin box doesn't sit so low in the bed... just a thought. Not sure how much clearance you have between the cover and the hitch to begin with.

RE: galley tank vent pipe....

I'm replacing the pipe because it is cracked behind the fridge. It would be easier to cut the pipe under the fridge and pull it through the roof.

galley tank vent pipe....

Anyone know if the vent pipes that run up to the roof are secured in the walls or do they just rest in the walls? I need to replace my sink vent and just wondering if when I cut the pipe if it will come out the roof easily or do I have to find where it may be secured to a wall stud... Thanks, Sean
