RE: Pop-Up to Hybrid?

I didn't see a gross vehicle weight rating on there at all. I'm with Chuck regarding 'maxing your tow capacity.' Weight distributing hitch and brake controller are critical components. Things that we sometimes forget is that a) sure, you can get a trailer moving, but in a panic situation, how well does it stop! Also having the tongue weight cantilevered to the front axle helps with steering control, particularly in wet weather. I know we all talk about it, but sometimes a reminder never hurts.

RE: Tire Choices - Rank These Tire Brands

Call me green on this, but aren't there any domestic trailer tire manufacturers anymore?
Just curious.

Keep us informed of any feedback you get. I with the above, not sure I'd trust it to hold the trailer.

RE: Kitchen must haves

I'm fairly new to camping (my husbsnd is a pro), but I've found that we use our dutch oven alot. At our cousins camp, we got picked on for having anything anyone needed except a waffle maker...we got two waffle makers for our wedding!!!!

RE: Picked up the trailer... good as new!

Mike-
It looks like the same flat room, but a new material. Happy it's done and home. Been working a little at a time to reload it though... :)

Picked up the trailer... good as new!

Many of you may remember my episode from last fall with the loose A/C bolts that lead to some roof damage and the need to replace the roof...
I picked the trailer up last Friday from Jayco and I just want to publicly compliment them on stepping up to help. They had let me know a few weeks ago that they had completed the work. I called down a day ahead of time to let them know I was coming to pick it up. They had it pulled up front and ready when I got there. The trailer looks brand new on the inside. We looked through every nook and cranny. All the caulk was redone, the seams all back the way they should be, floor was spotless not a spec of anything anywhere. I was very happily surprised. We were greeted by the same service person who checked us in last fall and were given a complete review of everything that was done.
As mentioned last fall, I was dissappointed on how the damage happened, but very satified with the outcome.
Great Customer Service!

RE: When to de-winterize?

Think we'll be picking the camper up from storage Friday. Don't have any camping booked until after Easter. Still having a hard time comprehending it being 20 degrees warmer in Southern Wisconsin than it was in Los Angeles the other day... In March...

RE: Installing a hitch on 2009 Jayfeather 23B

We've looked at situations like this before. In the past, as now, I recommend the Top Pop Rails bike racks. Top Pop Rack website. They fit what you are looking to do and are mounted in a good place. It also helps because you can see your cargo from the Tow Vehicle.

RE: GM 5.3 versus Ford 5 L for towing a hybrid

I've gotten feedback on both. I decided to go with the Ecoboost in a supercrew. I'd heard all the hipe and wanted to prove it to myself. I don't think I'll ever go back. :) That said, seemed like the 5.0 has a little more torquie launch. Our trailer is maybe 3/4 of a ton heavier. I didn't have any trouble with the 5.4 in my 09 F-150. Someone mentioned the 5.0 isn't put in the Super Duties. My understanding is it never was intended to. For 'economies of scale' the only gas engine offered in the Super Duty is the 6.2 liter (or the V-10 in the chassis cabs.) My understanding is the 5.0 and the 6.2 liter share similar architecture. The 5.4 liter was considered a little underpowered in some Super Duty applications. Also the way I understand it the 6.2 in the Super Duty is mated to different 6 speed gearbox. Not sure of all the specifics though. I do like the seats in my F-150 though. Very comfortable after 8 plus hours of steady driving.

RE: Newbie question

Congratulations on the find. Not to worry - we've all found stuff in the last place we looked (with apologies to Bill Engval). Snap a picture of your classic. We'd all like to see it put up.
You can see by this thread that we're all here to help.

RE: Newbie question

I can guess which dealer you won't be buying your next trailer from.
There are 2 dealers showing in your area. Which ever one you didn't get robbed at, call them and ask them the cost of a shepard's hook or tent bow. They should be fairly reasonable. Most on the market are adjustable too. Hope that helps!
Welcome aboard as well. Remember a bad day of camping still usually beats a good day at work! :)

I'll let you know. We plan to go on Thursday before the crowds.
Its actually next weekend, though, February 23 - 26.
I think I knew that, good thing I didn't go down tomorrow! :)

RE: pizza stone

Hey Dan (OP)-
Is the stone a Pampered Chef? I've had a P.C. stone for the better part of 14 years, never let me down. Also if ya got a hankerin for pizza, and don't want to heat up the inside of the trailer, use and upside Dutch oven lid and make an aluminum foil tent over it on your grill over the fire pit. Watch how close you are at first so it doesn't burn.

Very Surprised at RV show

Just went to the Madison Camper and RV show over the weekend. Great crowd, lots to see and do.
One thing that really surprised me was that the Jayco dealer was the only dealer with Hybrids TT on display. He had 4 almost completely different floor plans. Is that unusual at a show? Most people I talked while I was there were surprised as well.
Thoughts?
