RE: how old should you go.

I also own a 2000 year model gaser. Look at it this way, would you rather do maintenance, or payments. The previce owner sure didn't check up with maintenance items. With all the items I've fixed or replaced ove rthe last 4 years, I'm sure not ready to just tade her off any time soon.

RE: What Camping equipment does a first time camper need?

Setup your rig in your driveway for the week-end, you'll figure out what you need really quick. Any thing else is a plus.

RE: Abilene State Park near Abilene, Tx

Abilene State park is one of the prettiest state parks in this part of our state, and we've been to quite a few over years.
Fort Davis State park is another great park too. Can you believe this park even has cable TV.

RE: "Canvas treatment"...?? to repair leak ?

I bought a produt called Camp Dry, it was made by Kiwi. It's a heavy duty water repellent. Had it for years, I think I got it at Walmart in the camping/fishing dept. it'll water proof any thing you spray it on. Putit on when the material is dry, and let it dry before getting wet.

RE: Flat tire!

I desided a long time ago to get a bottle jack and all the tools to change a tire if I ever need to out on the road in the middle of no where. Looked around trying to find a lot profit bottle jack that would slide underneath the front I-beam axle when the tire went flat. Finally found what I needed a Tractor Supply. Took it home and tried it out. No problem. Also get yourself a long 1/2 drive breaker bar, and long 12" extension bar to reach into the nuts on the rear wheels. I'm now thinking that the hardest part of changing these heavy 19.5 tires is going to be getting the flat tire back up into the storage compactment. Haven't tried that yet.

RE: What would you buy?

With a budget of $10,000 to $15,000, your going to very limited, even with a V-10 engine, since they didn't come out until 1997. You'll be looking at 460's or 454 engines. probably back in the early 90's or later, if your lucky.
We bought a nice used low milage 2000 Damon Intruder 34 footer 4 years ago and paid in the mid $30,000 range. and so far it's been a great rig for us.

RE: Have you been turned away?

I think the only places your going to run into the 10 year old rule is probably going to at those High End RV Resort Parks, which we don't go to anyway. The only time I can remember even being asked the question was many years ago at the Oasis Rv Park in Las Wages, Nevada. We had a 2 year 5th wheel then.

RE: motorhome purchase age

We own a 12 year Damon Intruder (Gas), and sure don't plan on trading it for another one. Finally got things fixed the way we want it. In the process of painting the front of the coach, and then stripping the old vinyl graffics off and replace with paint.

RE: slight distinctive popping when turning

This may not answer your qustion but: We own a 2002 Ford Crown-Vic, and sometimes, not all, when we make a sharp turn, either left or right, we get a popping sound coming from the front end. We've had it in the Ford house to have te front-end checked out. They found nothing. Also have a brother-in-law that also has a crown-vic, and his does the same thing. Still don't know what's causing the popping sound.

The blue book has everything over priced in todays world. Take off 25 to 30% of asking, and make an offer. There's alot of motor home on the market.

If I where you, I'd sure ask the person who's pouring the concrete. Concrete has to have time to cure. Longer the better.

RE: Winstar RV Park Thackerville OK I-35 exit 1

We where there 2 weeks ago, what a wonderful RV Park. it's one of our favorite places. The lady at the desk told us that we might want to think about making reservation for our next visit. We went on a Tuesday and the park was almost full. Please, don't tell everyone about this park. We always take our dingy, but really don't know why, we hardly ever use it. Buses run just about every 15 minutes to the casino and all the hotels. Last year the Windsat was the third largest casino. If they keep building like they have been, next year they'll be the largest in the U.S.
We LOVE this PARK.

RE: What do I look for when buying an RV?

Gas or Diesel, How deep are your pockets? Diesel engines cost more, cost more to servive, diesel fuel is higher, and if major things go wrong with the engine, you wished you never owned it. And those 22.5 tires cost more too. if you've got the cash, go for it.
