RE: keystone cougar

It's not enough truck unfortunately, our trailers are simular in size & weight and you'll be much happier and safer with the confidence of a one ton truck. Pulling our Cougar with our 1 ton diesel, I can tell anything less would be challanging. If you'd like to ask me any detailed questions on our set-up feel free to PM me. Happy Camping :)

RE: keystone cougar

try the thru storage compartment against the wall. Might have to remove the panel. I had the same issue and turmened on the pump and found it. X2 That's where it is on my 293 SAB X3 That's where mine is on my 327RES. As far as pumps not pulling far mine is about 30 feet from the fresh water tank. Never heard that one but maybe for some pumps that's true. Another way to find it is open a faucet and track down the noise :W

RE: Need new tires - what about new rims?

If you're upgrading to E rated tires your current rims may not be rated to handle the higher pressure so you need to verify that first, that alone may dictate your decision. The comment on if the rims are rusting now what will they look like 5 or 6 years from now is a good one. On the comment on blasting and powdercoating; I feel by the time you finish messing around with that you'll not be spending much more for a set of brand new rims.

RE: lube plate makes unhooking more difficult ?

I lift the jacks until I can just barely wiggle the hitch plate using the release lever. Then I flip the safety catch on the hitch release and pull the lever.

RE: Replacing TrueAir T-Stat with Residential WiFi T-Stat

I have that T-stat in my house. We use it to cool the house down when we're leaving the campground for home, just pull the App up and change the temp so the AC has plenty of time to chill the house down b4 we get there. Also nice when traveling during the winter to see if the furnace is still working to avoid frozen pipes. Thought about putting one in my 5vr but most times there is no WiFi available where we're camping. Nice mod :C

RE: mud flaps for protecting fifth wheel

Got mine from these people as well http://www.duraflap.com/ With the weight of the trailer they are close to the ground but only touch on a bounce. I put the same on the rear of my Chevy 3500 two weeks ago, but I think you may have bought the long ones if they touch on the bounce:@ I bought the rears that hang aprox 12" below the bed metal (standard length & width). I figuired that with the 5th wheel hooked the squat would bring them lower and I was concerned about "touch on the bounce" or when navigating low dips while manuvering into camp sites they might stab the dirt. I'm not a fan of the mud flap look however now that they're on they look good and after towing home in a rain shower and seeing the lack of splatter on the 5vr I think I've achieved my goal of simple protection. And looking at the geometry I feel strongly they will not allow a rock to fly high enough to hit the front of the 5vr, only place they'll fly would be below the front at angles to the underbody which I see minimal harm in doing that. I was looking at the rock tamers but gave up on them not wanting to be taking them on & off between being hooked and not hooked. Awesome quality on the Duraflaps and drill-less install makes this an awesome product, but they are a little spendy. I did get a 10% discount though for being a forum member on Diesel Place. Not sure if the same goes for RV.Net but you could ask :)

RE: wheel chock

Another vote for roto-chocks. Link in my sig. Highest quality chocks on the market from my observations. They are a solid piece of engineering made here in the USA. You won't go wrong when buying these.

Started loading the camper yesterday and I'm happy to report no mice were found. If this weather keeps up I may sneak in a camping trip this month. I'm going today Awesome! I'd be out both this and next weekend if the family would stop making plans on the weekends. Where u going?

RE: We got it!

I have a suggestion. Check the welds at the back of the pinbox for cracking before every trip. Mine let go and dropped the RV onto my truck bed. 2010 Cougar in sig. I honestly hope your experience is better than mine has been. Pictures here so you know where to check...scroll down a bit Good to watch for but lets not freak her out. The 27RLS is not a fifth wheel so I doubt they will have any pin box issues :W Plankenau; welcome to the forum and enjoy your new TT. Looks like a nice one. Happy camping :B

RE: Wisconsin SPRING 2012 RV.NET Rally May 11-13th

Symbasden; We hope you can join us all again:B Our last dog Lacey was the dog you'd want. She was a German Short Haired Pointer but this is not a suggestion for the breed as every dog has it's own personality of course. We just got lucky with her I'm sure. The breed is a high energy sporting dog and in general is medium sized ranging small at 45ish pounds up to large being around 70 pounds, great with the family and kids and at least this one always stuck around us, the house, or camper. We never worried about her being off leash and it was so rare she ever barked that when she did we'd be so surprised we'd wonder if it was her or someones elses dog? I'd suggest if you can find a dog maybe around 2 years old or older that you can maybe try out first you may find that avoiding a puppy will result in finding the companion your looking for. They can come to your home and it can take a couple of weeks before the true dogs personality starts to show. Our chihuahua was 3 I think when we brought him home and was timid with us for some time before turning into a barking menace he is today :E Here's a picture of our old girl Lacey at her 13th birthday party. Best dog I've ever had... We miss her lots :( http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb62/CampIam/P1000894.jpg?t=1329665833
