RE: Water Heater problems

Yeah, it would if the spark is not in the right place, that is, in relation to the gas flow OR if the gap is too big to reliably spark. There may also be an obstruction in the flue or the burner tube that upsets the flow. Suburban or Atwood. Use the pencil eraser where the wires contact the edge of the PC board. That's four or six contacts.

RE: AC unit trips breaker only at night?

Replace the breaker. They are questionable after they have tripped twice or more and they will keep on tripping more frequently. THEN find out why along the other lines suggested. Works the same for park owners who do not want to replace faulty breakers.....

RE: Another SL3 Dish Aiming Question

I do it like az99 and that gets me started. Usually gets 101 every time. His aiming rod gives a lot of refinement-good idea. His way allows you to set the elevation and tilt(skew) and then not be confused by the LNBF arm. Also helps to stand in front and do a back azimuth with the compass since the sunlight is then behind you lighting what you want to see.

RE: Water Heater problem

Sounds like flame sense is not working. Try cleaning edge contacts where the white plug is with a pencil eraser. Tstat and ECO are good or you would not have ignition. Repair for no flame sense is to replace the circuit board. But first check the electrodes for proper spacing and insulation at the spark. That's the white ceramic. OEM boards are about 160 and Dinosaur are about 120. Dinosaur are way better.

RE: Are you smarter than an RV dealer's repair department?

This may be stating the obvious but here goes: the discharge hose should be routed UP with NO low points. The manufacturers generally do it this way and it has worked well for many years maybe even decades. The loop idea was simply a half-baked quick and easy "fix" to get you out of their hair. IF the RV mfgr screwed up in the hose installation it may involve some major activity to make it right but I doubt any mfgr would pay any dealer to do it.

RE: Tire Balancing Beads ?

Dyna Beads are NOT snake oil! Used them in scooters and all six wheels on the motorhome and they work great! I do not have any balance weights on the MH wheels. You can add the beads thru the valve stems after the Schrader valve is removed. I have not had any trouble with the beads clogging the valves, ever.

RE: water regulator placement

The plumbing in the RV will take around 100 psi with no problem but the hose won't for long so the regulator should be at the inlet of the hose. Park pressure of about 60 psi or less I would not use a regulator. What's a noobi doin' arguin' with an experienced RVer anyway?

RE: f53 brakes

What Big Katuna said. My '99 F53 under a Bounder 36S brakes ARE marginal for a 20K + rig but they don't fade because I use them like Big Katuna said. But they also have not faded on a coupla "panic" stops...I usually avoid those by planning ahead but, hey, I'm old!

I am waiting for the technobattle to be over to see what emerges as a general approach to 3D. SONY is famous for hogging the only game in town just to become obsolete overnight. Remember Betamax?

Pitch has the right idea to post a sign that contains INFORMATION for the reader and NOT some rule the park owner has no intention of enforcing.

RE: Advice needed on showerhouse and restroom management

I am going out on a limb here and maybe be branded as a curmudgeon BUT, it is your park. Do you want to "coddle" the people who let their kids run wild and irritate the 97% of the customers that pay the bills? The biggest problem I ever had when we were managing parks for other people was dealing with owners without spines. I had no trouble evicting outrageous guests or workers. I had trouble with owners who were scared to death of taking ANY action. Most (97%) of guests and workers have pretty good judgement as evidenced by the replies here. The 3% need to play somewhere else.

RE: ADDING REFRIGERANT TO ROOFTOP A/C

I repaired a unit on top of an '86 Itasca that had not been operated for over three years because the owner had been told by HVAC "qualified" techs 1)it was out of freon and that is why the compressor would not start and 2) the compressor was locked up and the unit had to be replaced. One of these two separate techs also said the unit could be given "a shot of freon" through a saddle valve and that may fix it. I replaced a corroded wire on the compressor and it is working fine as we speak. Most of the replacements of RV a/c's are unneccessary since the problem is a bad capacitor, faulty PTCR, thermostat/control problems or a combination. BEWARE OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO REPLACE RATHER THAN REPAIR.

RE: What am I doing wrong?

Coupla ways, Ken. I have a small (7" screen) battery operated HD and cable capable TV that I "prove" systems. Hook a short cable KNOWN TO BE GOOD from the park cable to the test TV. Auto scan to get what is available and spot check a few channels for picture quality. Prove your cable from park pedestal by plugging into pedestal and the other end to the test TV. Then if that is all good, connect the cable to the RV connection and then go inside where the fun really starts! You get the idea. You can use a multimeter the same way but you have to either jump a known resistor across one end of the totally disconnected cable and put the meter on the other end or rig a AA cell across the one end and see what you get with your volt meter on the other. Try one or more of these bright ideas and call me in the morning!

RE: What am I doing wrong?

You will have to "ring out" the coax cables going from outside in, to the distribution box and tv. This should be done after you have run the cable in the window directly to the tv to prove the tv can pick up the cable signal. It is getting inside and through the distribution box since the back tv gets the signal. So it probably is between the dist box and the tv.
