Lots of stuff breaking need some parts

I guess it's just the time when stuff starts breaking down; I need to fix six or seven things pretty fast, including of all things, a metal door latch to the entrance door that broke. Metal. I'll need to replace the whole door latch lock unit. I've been sleuthing around the internet looking for the parts and can find them all in one RV parts place or another. My question is, are there some places to avoid that people have had bad experiences with? One that has most of what I need is RV discount suppliers. They only take paypal which is okay. Anybody dealt with them or have any places they do or don't recommend? Note: Please assume I'm ordering the correct parts.

RE: Shiny RV with Red Max Pro (pics)

I'd love to hear what people think about pressure washing the MH to start with. Will it help get some of the "chalky" stuff off an unpainted fiberglass gel coat? I got some stuff to remove the peeling graphics already. My experience is that the pressure washer will remove healthy decals fairly quickly. Now I only pressure wash the fiberglass roof.:) I think it's best to scrub that chalky stuff with barkeepers friend. Fred I have some barkeeper's friend but itsn't it kind of gritty to use on the fiberglass gel surface?

RE: Shiny RV with Red Max Pro (pics)

I posted awhile back about some pealing I was having on one side of my MH specifically on the graphics. I has now grown much larger, but it's only on the graphics. The rest still looks pretty good. I was planning pressure washing it this weekend and putting it away. I don't think I need to use stripper, plus I understand it will strip your ink from the graphics. Hopefully enough pressure from the washer will blow off the excess. Does anyone have any suggestions about rewaxing after I get it cleaned up? Especially for the graphics? Thanks, Ben I'd love to hear what people think about pressure washing the MH to start with. Will it help get some of the "chalky" stuff off an unpainted fiberglass gel coat? RE: House battery help please

Thanks so much for all the great information. I only have limited space for the two batteries so I ended up with this type 24 Die Hard battery from Sears: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02827494000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2 I realize this may not be the best choice. I just had to go on and do something. I'll probably be looking for a better option next time (like in a year :/).

RE: House battery help please

A lot of folks on here recommend NOT getting a Marine Starting/Deep cycle battery for the house. Just get a Deep Cycle Only. Thanks. That's what I thought I was reading but wanted to make sure.

House battery help please

I've read some threads about batteries here but frankly most of it's above my head. I need two new batteries for my small MH. What I have in there now is Interstate deep cycle MARINE R/V SRM-24- 30 MONTHS - 550 CCA: here I have not been particularly pleased with these. Any other suggestions? Preferably something I can get at Sears or somewhere common and close. Thanks for any help.

RE: Side window leak

Can someone post a picture of what these "weep holes/drain spots" look like? I think i might have sealed mine thinking it was an oversight when the MH was made.

RE: Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

Thanks to all for your responses. I don't see any workable way around this rule. I was going to compete in a well-known sheepdog competition in Kingston. IOW, it's a dog trip, not a vacation that the dogs are just going along on. I'm a savvy dog owner and long-time occasional breeder. I wouldn't consider having the puppy vaccinated early nor would I consider boarding her. I wouldn't even leave her with a good friend. Everything else aside, puppies are only little for a short time and it's more important to me to have the time with my puppy than to go on this trip. So I guess that is that. I really appreciate everyone who took the time to help me with this.

RE: Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

Rabies, yes, http://www.cbp.gov/ImageCache/cgov/content/publications/pets_2epdf/v1/pets.pdf p. 4-5 CBP PDF file. I guess it's Customs Border Patrol. Definitely US Government site. :) To thread starter, go click on my link. It's there. YES, you need rabies shot. But you will need to get it in Canada. Again, if you tell me where you will be, I have offered to ask my vet for a recommendation. But you could try http://www.canada411.ca/ try these things. :) Thanks. I clicked on and read that link very carefully. What it tells me is that my puppy cannot re-enter the US unless it has received a rabies vaccination 30 days prior to re-entry. If less than 30 days, which is what will happen to me if she gets the shot in Canada, she will have to be in quarantine until that 30 day period is up. From your link: ? Ifthevaccinationwasperformedlessthan30daysbefore arrival, the animal may be admitted but must be con- fined at a place of the owner’s choosing until at least 30 days have passed since the vaccination. ? Youngpuppiesmustbeconfinedataplaceoftheowner’s choosing until they are three months old, then they must be vaccinated. They must remain in confinement for 30 days after the vaccination.

RE: Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

As of this AM, I'm thinking I'll have to cancel my trip unless I can find a definitive solution.

RE: Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

You may also need to prove that the puppy is American ... that you had the puppy with you when you crossed into Canada. Thanks. She'll be registered with an American registry (ABCA) that will provide her age and my US address. Also that I was the breeder so she was born here.

RE: Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

I just went through last year at the same time I'm going this year and they asked to see the vaccination papers for both dogs I had with me. I also saw that they require proof of age if the dog is 12 weeks or less. I sure don't want to be stuck in Canada for 30 days because I can't get back into the country. I annoyed all my friends last year because I was trying so hard to comply with all the restrictions. I just don't want any problems.

RE: Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

Thanks but I still can't understand how this can be managed. She'll be only 11 weeks when I enter Canada but 13 weeks when I come back. So she'll be older than 12 weeks but not be able to be vaccinated 30 days before re-entry. It's not even healthy for her to be vaccinated that young. It looks like she's falling between the cracks here.

Rabies requirement coming back to the US from Canada

Pardon me is this has been addressed but I can't find the information. I'll be bringing a puppy into Canada next month that will be (barely) less than 12 weeks old so she will not need a rabies certificate yet to cross the border into Canada according to the current policy. However, when I return to the US two weeks later she'll be older than 12 weeks. Do I need to have her vaccinated while In Canada or is the requirement to return to the US not the same? The normal time for rabies vaccination in the US is 16 weeks.

RE: windshield on Class C Ford E-350 same as F-350 pickup?

A few years ago I had a hawk fly into my E-350 (2006) windshield east of Fargo, SD. Made a pretty big mess. If I recall correctly, I had to wait longer to get it replaced because the E-350 and F-350 windshields were not the same. Naturally, the F-350 was more readily available.

RE: Real honest gas mileage

I have a 2006 PC 2350 bought new with over 40K on it. I used to get 11 under most conditions. No toad. Worst was 8-9 in ND winds. Highest was 14 when I had to drive 45-55. In the last year it's dropped a little below my many year 11MPG ave. I think it's the ethanol in the gas now.
