RE: HELP!! Losing Power On a 5.7L

Because of the fuel injection the lines are pressurized. When you turn it off its losing pressure somewhere because the pump isnt pumping, then when you start it up the pressure probably isnt up all the way and its fuel starved until it runs a bit and gets the pressure up. Sounds like a leaking injector to me.

RE: Two nomenclature things that drive me crazy

First is receiver/hitch. A receiver is the part attached to the TV, The hitch is what goes into the receiver, be it a simple drawbar and ball, or a W/D hitch.
Second is "propane tank". Detachable propane containment vessels are properly called cylinders. "tanks" are AMSE rated permanently attached to a vehicle in the case of RV's.
May not seem important to you, but we've had 5 posts in the last day or two that used the nomenclature wrong and the advise given (of course) was for the wrong item and totally useless and in one case even dangerous if followed.
Mike, If thats all that bothered you this year then you have had a pretty good year.

RE: stay out of los angles

They already did, there were about 20 people interviewed by the CHP, me included. There is a hill just before that area and I think his brakes might have overheated and started the fire.

RE: stay out of los angles

Link To story
"Wessell said the truck driver reported his rear trailer ablaze before he came to a stop under the Paramount Boulevard bridge."
HUH? Really? He stopped UNDER the bridge? I can see if he WAS stopped and abandoned the truck.. but it clearly indicates he brought it to a halt UNDER the bridge.. If that is true.. what an idiot..
He was haling 15000 gallons of gas that was on fire. So if you were the driver you would just cruise around the neighborhood looking for a safe place to stop? He got off the freeway ON FIRE so it wouldnt explode in traffic and kill who knows how many and you call him an idiot, unbelievable.
NO ONE said he needed to drive around the hood, that is a STUPID suggestion however pulling another 20 feet (taking 10 seconds) would likely not have yielded any negative effects. if he did like you claim and drove that far.. why stop under a bridge? I didn't read he drove any great distance in the article, not sure where you read he was a hero and drove off the highway.
I used to drive a bulk tanker and hauled gasoline at times as well.. (for a while before I changed gears).
Would I try to minimize the damage and/or risk to others.. without a doubt.. Scary situation.. without a doubt. Do you really think it would EXPLODE like in the movies?
I dont see where you read that I called him a hero because I didnt, but now that you mention it I will. I didnt read anywhere in the article about how far he drove the truck while it was on fire, I didnt have to because I WAS THERE!!! I was about a quarter mile behind him and he drove ON FIRE almost a half mile to the Paramount Blvd exit. Then I was stuck there for 3 hours.

RE: stay out of los angles

I've seen trailer fires where old corps drivers pulled off the road as far as possible and in some cases un-hooked the tractor. At the time it just made sense, no hero medals were awarded.
True, I have seen that many times but I think there is a big difference in "your trailer is on fire" and "your tanker with 15000 gallons of gas is on fire"

RE: HELP!! Patch Class A Tires 9R22.5??

Patch the inside of the tire just like you did to your bike when you were a kid. Shoving a plug through the hole separates the steel belt or the nylon then develops a lump in the tire. I quit using plugs many years ago, patch is the way to go especiall since you already took the tires off.
Also, no, I am NOT in the tire business.

RE: Backfiring Onan 2800 Microlite

I had an Onan 4000 that did that and one time I noticed when it backfired some rust blew out of the muffler. I figured the muffler was clogged so I put a new one on and it never backfired again. Might be something to check.

You can turn off the tank and remove the regulator. Is there a problem turning off the tank?

I do my own service on mine and thats about all I do to it. Once in a while I will run some carb cleaner through it, usually when it starts surging and that straightens it right up.

RE: Morning Fires

I start our fire in the morning when I get up and put it out at bedtime when we are camping. We cook all our meals on it, sit around it and talk or just sit around it and zone out. I understand that fires may bother some people and if they just stopped by to tell me that I would be more than happy to direct them to a CG where fires are not allowed. There are such places and they should go there if fires or smoke bother them. If fire or smoke bothered me a CG would be the last place I would want to be, it would be like going to Disneyland even though you hate children.

In city stop and go they will produce some heat so I would be looking at the front axle brakes, they might need adjusting.

RE: Looking to upgrade the caster wheel on the front jack

You should take a look at Harborfreight.com They have all different size air filled tires. I bought wheels for my 2 wheel dolly there and my 4 wheel dolly and they are very reasonable.
