RE: screen door

Hi all, Not a screen door, rather screen window. I have not followed this thread so sorry if this is redundant. I have a roll of screening for a window. I have not tried it yet, lazy - but when I'm out and have the need I plan: Open the passenger door of my Express Van Class B (Roadtrek 190P) from outside or inside the van and place the screen over the door covering the window on the inside. Then just close the door. I can then just use the powder window as I like with or without the Fantastic Fan. I can't imagine needing more air than the passenger window down/Fantastic Fan can provide. There are already screens in the back windows. Hopefully, it will be quick, easy and work well - for free as I already have the roll that was purchased at Walmart cheaply. Bud

RE: How Loud Is Your Generator?

"Is this amount of noise to be expected" Don't know how loud the noise is, BUT the Onan used in class B's are LOUD. Some solutions have been offered above, but it is still considered a loud RV generator. It is not a Honda or Yamaha. If you could eliminate All of the exhaust noise, it would still not be a quiet RV generator. Bud

RE: Roadtrek 190 or 210

Much has been said, but: The fuel mileage is Less with the 210 because it is 8 inches wider and taller. At speed, it makes a big difference pushing a larger front into the wind. My estimate from reading forums over the years is about 10% more fuel required at 70mph, or a tiny bit less than 10%. Less difference as the speed decreases, but always more. I suggest that you actually write down the advantages and disadvantages of each. With my application, I would not want the 210 at the same price - too many downsides, again my application. Bud

RE: Motel?

One of the ways to Durango is through Tucumcari, NM, which is the Cheap Motel Capital of the US - less yet. The difference is Unimportant in terms of money. Each of us will feel different if the price is the same or $20 either way. Go for what feels right When you get there - maybe you'll be tired and on and on. No reservations required in Tucumcari 99+% of the time. Bud

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

This is drifting off topic again :E Subject line is "What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?" May want to start a battery topic in Tech Issues Admin RV.net Hi Admin, Seems to me that it is simply asking a question about someone has done with there class B RV. Or in this case, what they are about to do. But then you did say "May want....." Thanks for being here. Bud

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Rats! Thanks for the heads up. I didn't speak with anyone at Optima. I just read through the info on their site. Hopefully, it will work out for you. Please get back to us. Bud

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Hello again locoqueso, When I went to close the Optima window on my pc, I was asked about chatting. I asked about the yellow top vs blue top for RV applications. From that, I suggest that you contact Optima concerning using the yellow top with an RV. The price appears good, but there Is a reason for the blue top. Bud

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

@BudJ: The Optima FAQ has information on the difference between Yellow and Blue tops... Note: The difference between BlueTop and YellowTop deep cycle batteries is that BlueTop batteries have both automotive (SAE) posts and threaded posts, while YellowTops (other than D31T) only have SAE posts. If you ever get confused on the color tops just remember: if it has a dark gray case then it is a starting battery; if it has a light gray case then it is a deep cycle (dual purpose) battery. I ordered two YellowTops with light gray cases to use as deep cycles for the coach. The promo code only seems to work with the YellowTop and RedTop Optimas. Understood, and thanks. But you did not quote all of the FAQ about the difference. Nowhere does Optima say anything about the yellow top being used for Marine or RV applications, rather other applications that are not the average 'vehicle' applicaton. They provided a number of examples that are Not Marine or RV like. The difference appears to be 'how' deep cycle, e.g. nowhere with the yellow top do you find what Optima cites about the blue top, "3x more recharges than a traditional battery". Again, I know little other than what I've read. Maybe you have already spoken with Optima. Bud

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Bought two Optima D34 batteries for $352.20 shipped from AdvanceAutoParts.com using promo code BATX I don't understand, but I'm mostly ignorant - please assist. Since you purchased 2, it appears that you purchased them as coach batteries, not for the vehicle. If so, it appears that the appropriate batteries would be the 'Blue Top' Optima, not the 'Yellow Top'. Please explain. Thanks. Bud

RE: Alternative Generator ideas for Roadtrek

"For the loudness of the Onan issue, an engine is an engine. It's going to make noise no matter what." Huh? Have you heard a Yamaha 3500? Have you heard the 2000 Honda and Yamaha? "You might be able to deaden the sound a bit but I wonder if it is worth all the hassle and $$$." Huh? YES Like I wrote earlier. In years of reading Class B forums, THE Number one thing that the owners don't like is the Onan generator. Bud

RE: Alternative Generator ideas for Roadtrek

I've been reading Class B RV forums for about 7 years and own one with the Onan generator. THE Number one thing that owners don't like is the Onan generator, PERIOD. Hands down the Onan generator wins the Don't Like Contest. And that is from someone that has not had problems, just reading the forums. The market place is just too small for any real competition. But that could change tomorrow, hopefully as I've been lucky. Bud

RE: NEWBIE HERE, ?? about inverter

There are some excellent methods to make coffee with hot water using a stove. Samll 4 cup coffee makers use 600-650 watts. Roadtreks have used 650 and 750 watt inverters for years. Bud

"I am looking at buying one of the older style Sprinter Class Bs. May I ask for advice regarding the possibility of extending the driving range?" Why Jerry? Bud

RE: Stretched our B

"I still think it is a shame that there isn't a definition of B+..." Basically there is. A B+ is a Class C without a cab over, or more like a C-, not a B+. Cool marketing term though. "So when and why does one decide to cross that boundary?" Easy and you alluded to it. You first decide what you are going to do with your RV and what is important to you. There many different features of a RV, so the application pretty much decides the order of importance. Bud

I really don't know how you can beat a kitchen sink sprayer! One hand operation, and it does not continue to 'trickle'. Bud
