RE: EcoBoost Ordered 1/21 Delivery 2/27!

Even years later, a Monday build is not a great thing.
Pretty much an old wives tale nowadays. Having said that, I'd probably rather it be built on a Monday than a Friday. People are too eager to get-r-done and get out on Fridays, or they just take the day off and we have to work shorthanded. I know as I work on a large manufacturing assembly line (Boeing 737's).
Anyway, a big CONGRATS on the new truck! I too am jealous.
Not an old wives tale at all. Although quality is much improved from decade to decade, the fact remains that workers of all industries are more likely to take off on a Monday or Friday. What's left? In the auto industry it means that a "utility man" will take over the absentee's duties. Utility men are qualifed to work all positions but often are not as proficient as the person they are replacing. Mistakes often happen when regular workers are replaced. It's a fact of all businesses.
And as for robots now building cars; car building is still very much a hands on industry. Robots have taken over the difficult and repetitive jobs but the fitting of components are still very much hands on.
Anyway, good luck with your new vehicle!

RE: 15 + mpg with V10 in 29 footer?

The Ford V-10 is great engine but contrary to popular belief the "10" does not refer to the number of cylinders. It is the mileage that you will never, ever, no how, no way, see regardless of what you are driving/pulling. :B
Not true AT ALL! On our last cross-country journey from AZ to FL, once I got out of the mountains of the west and got onto the flats, I averaged 10 mpg on every fill up. Always cruised at 62 mph and that took into account all kinds of winds, weather, traffic, etc. I drive like I have an egg on the gas pedal while accelerating. Yep, lots of people passed me but I passed them at the gas pumps.

RE: Have you buffed or polished your headlight lenses?

2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper used wet will do a marvelous job. Just a drop of dish soap in the water for lubrication and rinse the paper often.

RE: Your favorite Arizona attractions

Personally, seeing the Arizona border in the rear view mirror as we were moving from AZ back to FL was the best thing I ever saw there. Sorry, but I just had to say it. If one likes dirt, dust, rocks, and wind, then you will be happy. We gave it 11 years and couldn't stand it another day.

RE: Leak-free Class C's

Any that are properly maintained will be leak-free. Because of all the vents, vent stacks, antennas, air conditioners, etc. that protrude through the roof, all must be sealed occasionally no matter the construction method or roof material.

RE: Any residual value in replaced tires?

Nope.... They have no value and if you did sell them YOU "could" be responsible for any accident or incident caused by their failure.
On top of that, depending on where you live, you will pay $7 to $15 for EACH tire to have them disposed of for you.
Tim
Oh Tim. If what you say were true then used cars would be unable to be resold also. Boogy, boogy....something may happen. Well, of course it MAY.

RE: Hard covers for the spare tire

I've had two vans with those hard covers. A PITA for sure. To preserve the soft cover, I use Krylon Fusion paint. It's been on for 4 years and there is no cracking or peeling.

RE: What if?

I'd say one might be a fool for even looking at dealer financing. Better financing deals with no backside pricing ($ in the dealer's pocket) is available at your small local bank or credit union.

RE: Florida's Attitude Towards Snowbirds

...and please remember that us Floridians don't camp here in the summer for the same reasons the northerners don't. It's too damn hot. So, we look forward to the cool weather of winter to do our camping and find that unless plans are made in advance, we find few openings or if we do get a spot, we see more out of state plates than not. Anyway, welcome all and spend that money!

RE: Split Year Unit

This is only a small speed bump in getting it titled correctly. You need the certificate of origin from the manufacturer that shows the correct year on their title. I just finished the same mess here in FL. Luckily, my manufacturer is still in business. Search for certificate of origin for more posts about this subject.

Be prepared for lost signal. Not a day goes by that I don't loose signal. It is so damn frustrating and customer service once told me that it is normal. About as normal as me forgetting to make the monthly payment.

I bought a 2004 28R from Cruise America in 2007. It has been a great rig and would do it again, if needed.

Perhaps on the downhill side only! I had a 4.8 in a Tahoe and it would barely move itself in the mountains. I certainly wouldn't do it.
