RE: air compressor question

Q Industries sells the MV50 12v compressor. It's fine up to a point. I have one and it was great for my tt with 65psi needs, but for my 5er I got the MV50's big brother the MV90. It's a beast and handles the 5er just great. It's much less expensive that the Viair 400 and very competitive in performance. If you want a 12v system, I think it's the one to get. I like mine. p.s. It has become so popular that it is on backorder for the next 6 weeks or so.

RE: Slimline dish meter

Larry, I'm with you. I got the Tracker Plus which looks just like the Accutrac III Plus. Works great, well worthwhile in my opinion. When I arrive late and it's dark, I can set up in a few mins and max the signal without even hooking up the dish to the TV yet. Hook up the cables and walk inside and....voila, every time I have a great signal. Well worth the money to me.

RE: Towing Travel Trailer up California Coast

Hearst Castle is 400 miles south of where he is planning on being. The GOOD news is that if you are driving north you are on the inside and not the outside.

RE: Towing Travel Trailer up California Coast

I wouldn't take a 33' tt up hwy 1. Folks that have reported not enjoying the trip due to anxiety. Hwy 101 is an easy route and pleasant views. If you get the chance to camp somewhere along the way and drive over to Hwy 1 for a day drive, it's well worth it. If you get the chance, don't miss Hearst Castle.

RE: Round Bars vs Trunnion Bars?

Im not sure about the current design, but when I got my 1st Reese HP Dual Cam, I got the round bar system. I was not able to get it adjusted to my satisfaction because it didn't have enough forward tilt hitch head adjustment and I upgraded to the trunnion system. The hitch heads were completely different designs and the head with the trunnion system offered much more head tilt adjustment than the round bar hitch head. I was able to get the system setup properly with the trunnion system. If they are still the same design, then that's the major difference to me.

Great spot. We've never had a problem getting a spot if you contact them about 30-60 days before arrival...its a little pricey, but really nice. We like it.

RE: stabilizers for 35 foot fifth wheel

Steadyfast...works great, very well built, great support, easy to install and only 3 knobs to tighten or loosen. Easier to use. Very happy with mine. Folks also love their JT's, I'm just lazy 3 vs 6 knobs to tighten/loosen.

RE: Sealed and Vented battery box

yes, there is a post from yesterday about the same thing. I cut the vent tubes out of the single 12v battery box that came with the 5er. I left a 1/4" lip surrounding the tubes. Then I cut a hole in the top and the bottom of the box I chose (Bonar) and epoxy'd the tubes in place. Cut a hole in the bottom of the front storage compartment for the battery box bottom tube, connected the top tube to the existing hose that is attached to the air intake vent and was done.

RE: Tire air pressure pump?

Q Industries sells their MV90 that does 110psi just fine. I have one for my G614's....no problem. I believe it's the best bang for the buck in 12v compressors around. It's very competitive with more expensive Viair units. BTW, If you know the axle weights of your unti and look at the manufacturer's load tables for the G614, you might find that you are good at 90 or 100psi. I am running 95psi in mine now.

RE: Modifications to Vent Commercial Battery Box

I used the Bonar box. I took the regular single 12v box that came with my 5er and cut out the top and bottom air tubes leaving about 1/4" plastic around the tubes. Cut the top and bottom of the Bonar box to fit just the tube which I pushed thru the holes and epoxy'd the cut out tubes into the Bonar using the 1/4" flat lip to epoxy to the inside of the Bonar. Cut a hole in the bottom of my front storage compartment to match the bottom tube I had put in the Bonar, hooked up the regular intake hose that came with the unit to the newly created top tube in the Bonar and was done. Took about 2 hrs. I didn't seal the box. The flow of air thru the box when under way is substantial. A properly sized round cutout that fits your hand drill is handy for doing this.

RE: buying 1st r.v 5th wheel/truck

We got a Montana 3455 (implication of 34') actually measures 37'4" in length. my F350 full of fuel and "ready to camp" weighs 8500 lbs. My 5er pin wt is 2520 lbs. The GVWR of the F350 is 11500 lbs. As you can see, 8500 + 2520 = 11,020. I can put up to 480 lbs of more stuff in the truck, but would be at max spec. I wouldn't want more wt that this for my F350. My 5er "ready to camp" weighs 13,700 lbs. I hope this helps.

RE: Tire Recommendation

The Montana owners forum www.montanaowners.com has many owners of your unit. You will get plenty of good experience there for your rig. There is an owner who is in the tire business who likes the Duravis 500 as well as several other tires. You may have wheels rated for 110psi, usually they have a stamp or label that can be seen from the back side of the wheel under the rig. Using their experience, I went with the G614's. I looked at the backside of my wheels and voila!, they were stamped to support 110psi.

RE: Sewere flush valve?

Sorry, I just saw that you bought the trailer used. If you can find out where the valve is located and can reach it easily, then you can do it yourself, otherwise you might want the dealer to do it. I don't know if they get plugged, but they do fail and are frequently installed backwards.

RE: Sewere flush valve?

Mine didn't work when I took delivery. I had the dealer replace it under warrentee. If you can, that's the way to go. Unfortunately, the factories are known to install quite a few in backwards. Mine was. It's sometimes difficult to locate and get to the valve, I would have the dealer do it.

We have the MorRyde pin box and a TrailerSaver air hitch. Great combo. Our Monty just floats behind the tv. Not inexpensive, but really nice ride.
