RE: Our new F150 HD Ecoboost

Congrats and welcome to the EB family! That is one nice looking ride. Gotta love the power of the EB's...it brings a smile to my face everytime I get on it. I can't wait to tow with this badboy!

RE: Pricing new F150?

X-Plan and rebates took more than $10,000 off of the sticker on the 2012 F150 XLT 4x4 CrewCab (145" WB) with EB and maxtow package that I bought two weeks ago. They also gave me a great trade-in value for my '07 F150, and even a very substantial discount on a 7 year/100,000 mile premium Ford ESP. I just couldn't say no. Good luck on your purchase!

RE: 2012 Ford F-150 6 Ecoboost

You need to run the numbers of the exact F150 model that you would be considering with the above TT weights (as camping, not dry brochure). Our new F150 (with maxtow package) has a GVWR of 7,650#, with 1,870# of payload, and a stated max towing capacity of 11,200#. Remember that the payload must account for all passengers, cargo, and the tongue weight of the TT and hitch. Good luck on your decision.

RE: Seasonal Site..Leave the fridge on or turn it off each time?

That is a good tip Packer. I always set the correct time on our microwave as a quick indicator that the AC power has not been interupted. If I walk in a see the wrong time flashing, then I know to start checking other things.

RE: Major fuel leak 6.7L Ford Powerstroke

Good luck getting it fixed Norsky! At least it happened at home and not out on the road someplace. It is very disappointing to hear all of the negative reports centered around the 6.7L, both here and on the Ford Truck boards. I am a Ford guy at heart, but not sure I would go with Ford if I was in the market for a diesel rig.

RE: Seasonal Site..Leave the fridge on or turn it off each time?

We turn off the water supply and the hot water heater when we leave our seasonal for the workweek. The fridge stays on all the time, running in electric mode, with propane tanks open as a back-up. Nothing like having a fridge full of cold ones waiting at the CG! :)

RE: 4wd for towing stability?

Only helps forward or reverse traction. This is the only time I have ever used 4x4 while towing, and never on a paved surface.

RE: Towing with F150 EB

I just went through a similar decision process, as we are planning to get a larger TT next year. I ended-up going with a 2012 F150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4 (145” WB), Max Tow Package, with the Ecoboost over the weekend. After test driving several models and different engine combos, much research, and running the weight numbers of the larger TT (8,600# max GVWR) we plan to purchase early next year, it was an easy decision for me. The payload of my new F150 is 1,870#, with a GVWR of 7,650#, a GCWR of 17,100#, and a tow rating of 11,200#. We are on a seasonal site now days, so my towing will mainly consist of taking the camper to/from its covered winter storage location to the CG. Good luck on your search and decision.

RE: I swapped my ride over the weekend...

I fully agree M GO BLUE. I ran all my numbers prior to purchasing the new TV. Although our plans are to go with a larger TT, we are not going too crazy on the size upgrade. The TT we are looking at has a max GVWR of 8600. The payload of the new F150 (with maxtow package) is 1,870#, with a tow rating of 11,100#. We are on a seasonal site now days, so my towing will mainly consist of taking the camper to/from its covered winter storage location to the CG.

I swapped my ride over the weekend...

And went from an '07 F150 XLT with 5.4L V8 to a 2012 F150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4, MaxTow, with the Ecoboost. :B After test driving several models and engine combos, much research, and running the weight numbers of the larger TT we plan to purchase early next year, it was an easy decision for me. The sheer power, coupled with the fuel economy of the Ecoboost, quite literally blew me away. After putting 150 miles on it this weekend, all I can say is wow! I just can't stop smiling. I am definitely looking forward to my first tow!

RE: F-150: eco boost or 6 liter V8 ?

I just went through a simmilar decision process, as we are planning to get a larger TT next year. After several test drives, I ended-up going with the Ecoboost with the MaxTow package. To me, it was game over once I drove the Ecoboost. Good luck!

RE: Just Plain Gross

THE best one I watched was a camper that either hooked up the hose wrong or it broke so they dumped their black tank into a black garbage bag. :E And THEN tried carrying the sloshing bag around looking for a place to dump it. I hope they were using a Hefty! Sorry, couldn't resist.

RE: 30 or 50amp hook up

Our seasonal site has a 50 amp pedestal, our TT is 30 amp. We use a 50 amp to 30 amp dogbone. As others have mentioned, seems to be much less "under voltage" issues with a 50 amp service.

RE: 2012 Jayco Caulking

I use and recommend Pro-flex rv lap sealant for seams and Dicor self leveling sealant on the roof seams and fittings. X2

RE: Slides. why?

I would be hard pressed to own a TT without slide-outs. I had one in my last trailer, have one in my present trailer, and will have them in my next trailer.

RE: Ford F150 5.4L V8 or Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 V8 Hemi

I have no issue and am happy pulling our TT (5600 # loaded) with my 2007 F-150 4x4 SuperCrew. I have the 5.4L V8, 3.73 rear, with 17 inch tires, and towing package. Might want to also check the available payload capacity between the two trucks you are looking at. My F150 is listed at 1,625 lbs per the yellow sticker. Good luck!
