RE: Propane lines destroyed

That happened to me before too. I had my plumber friend replace all lines with ridgid galvanized to keep it more safe. I didn't like the idea of having flex line that close to the wheels.
Hope you meant "black iron". Galvanized is a no no for natural or LP gas.
2x on this!
As to OP get a pro to deal with the propane.

RE: prpane tanks

60 lbs of propane is much more flammable than 100 gallons of diesel.
60# of propane is 15 gallons. 100 gallons of diesel will burn hotter and do more damage. I have seen several concrete bridges that have been replace due to diesel fires. Not one have I seen due to a propane fire.

RE: kayaks vs canoes

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh144/Bonefish_photos/Kayakdog.jpg
First - think of what you want to use it for. Many of the above suggestions are better suited for certain types of endeavors.
Are you going to paddle alone or always together.
Go to a shop that specializes in kayaks and canoes. There are a number of shops in Texas that will let you try out their models or have a day at a local lake to show off and let you try their equipment. They also will give "how to use your boat" and most important "boating safety" course. This is important to be able to "right a kayak" and "reenter it in deep water".
I use mine mainly for fishing.

RE: ac freezing low vs high question

Make sure the coils and filters are clean.
For High humidity, run the AC fan in the non-auto and high fan speed mode. The fan running when the compressor is not keeps the coil clear of any ice that may form due to the high humidity. The ice forming on the coils will often cause the AC breaker to trip. If this happens run the fan continuous on high should help cure the problem.

RE: Newb - Low water drain point?

Out here in west Texas a buddy of mine left his fresh water tank filled. With the heat out here the chlorine is forced out of the water and on his next trip they had a tank full of green water. The algae had taken over. If you have a fish tank leaving the water stand over night will clear of chlorine so you can put fish in it.
We drain the system and FW tank. Black, gray and gally tanks are left with several gallons of water with treating chemicals.

RE: Newb Question - Drain Hot Water Heater In Storage

Stick house is shifted to Vacation on the tank which heats the water to maintain it at a temperature no bacteria can live in but conserve fuel.
The camper is drained if it is going to be more than several weeks before we go out again. It prevents the hot water heater from developing a sulfur odor I have seen a number of people on here complain about.

RE: Slideout motor replacement

First check to see if the slide rails are clean. I used a waxy looking slide lube on mine once and I had nothing but trouble. Cleaned them and now use silicon or teflon dry spray with no problems.
I have also had a lot of electric motors rebuilt. They run like new if done correctly. Any shop that specializes in electric motors can rebuild them and the motor you have is probably a better motor than the repacement you would get off the internet.

RE: Long/Heavy TT owners and towing

When I hit bridges and dips in the road I rock back and forth several times before the rig settles back down. There is some sway, but not enough to have me overly worried. It kinda feels like the TT is driving my TV.
My question is, is all this normal for pulling a big TT?
You say it doesn’t have much sway and what you describe called bucking or rocking! Causes are BAD SHOCKS, WEAK OR A BROKEN SPRING on the tow vehicle or TT, and IMPROPER HITCH SETUP, TOO WEAK of WD springs, miss alignment, etc. It sounds like you might have a number of thing working against you and are correctable. Get off here and take it to as someone suggested Franklin Hitches who has been in business for a long time (anywhere but Camping World). A good local company can diagnose the problem and get you rolling.

RE: PVC Leak

Most all are hand tight. The camper flexing and vibration down the road will cause them to loosen and leak. One of the things to check after long trips. Just put a bucket under it to catch the water in the trap when you take it off. Check that the seal is not damaged. You can buy them at any Lowes, Walmart, etc.

So did you smoke, bake or deep fry him?
You are lucky it wasn't a buzzard! Hit one of those once but was lucky it didn't come through except for the smell.

RE: When to replace bearings ?

Look for flat spots, pits, etc. on the bearing and races.
They will often discolor when going bad.

RE: Secure your coolers

Get one of the IR deer cams and photo them red handed.
Turn them into the park authorities and get them kicked out of the park. They are thieves and need to be taught a lesson.

RE: Suction on holding tank cap.

Since when are holding tanks not being vented?
My blade valves have a small 1/8" vent hole near the top outside edge drilled into them. I periodically use an oiler and squirt olive oil (biodegradable) in the hole to keep the blades, seals and handle rods lubed.

RE: Luby's Beef Tortilla Soup

I miss having a Luby's. When we lived in San Antonio I worked down the street from what they called the test kitchen. It was in the basement of an old building. Once a week the office would go eat on Friday's. Our's closed here in Midland about 5 years ago. I think it was a big mistake, all we have is Furr's and it is no match for Luby's.

RE: Camping with Puppy tips?

Ours use the soft kennels all the time. Snickers (rat terrier) learned how to unzip hers. They are so much lighter in weight than the others.
Sharon
The part that worked so well for us was the fact that the crate could be wedged between the seat back and the table in the dinette, so it rode securely. I don't think I could have done that with a plastic or wire crate?
I have the wire one here at home and it does take up more room. Our terriers are so little and can be picked up in the soft kennel. They set on the back seat of the truck and do not tear up the leather seats as the wire would do.

RE: Camping with Puppy tips?

I bought a "tent-crate" for Jimmy on his first trip to FLA at about 12 weeks old - he STILL loves that crate and has adopted it as his bed here at work (I just rolled back and snapped this picture of him napping)

RE: Storage

It depends on the place here in Midland some can run as high as 200$ or more. Ours is covered with a cost of 610$ a year with electric to keep the battery charged. It also had a dump area.

RE: Need help with tv mount

That is just a photo of my model from the internet...I haven't bought a TV or mount yet.
Sorry just got back to your post.
Do you have a slide that comes across the area you are planning to mount the TV. You need to know how much clearance you have. The flat screens I have mounted in our camper I have made my own mounting door and plate from plywood. Our camper was designed for a tube type set so going flat screen saved a lot of weight and space. The TV door now covers a storage space behind it. None have fallen off or damaged a TV. I will see if I have a photo and post it later.
