RE: Start Generator on Chassis Batteries

my motorhome originally had the gen hooked to the house battery for starting. I switched it to start off the chasis battery. I figured that if I used the house battery down to 0 I wouldn't be able to start the gen. but the engine would start because its battery was isolated from the house so I figured it would be safer to start the gen off the engine(chasis) battery. on my coach both batteries get charged by the engine or the gen.

RE: Squeaky Furnace Repair

the fan on the end of the motor usually has only bushings not bearings so once they start to go they are gone you can try putting some lube o as a tempoary fix but replacemant is the only long term repair I have replaced mine it is not a big job.

RE: from California to Victoria BC

If you are going straight through then take I5 there are lots of rest stops truck stops and places you can stop along the way depending on how long you drive each day.
For a ferry to Victoria I would suggest going to Anacortes and taking the ferry from there it is a Washington state ferry.
to get to Anacortes stay on I5 through Seattle to just past Mt. Vernon then take Hwy.20 west to Anacortes . we stayed at a small rv park called "Lighthouse RV & ministorage" it is ok for an overnight and very close to the ferry. In Victoria we stayed at "Fort Victoria RV Park" we plan to stay there again this summer. There is bus service to anyplace in the Victoria area from the rv park and also a small single car train that will stop there if you want a daytrip up the Island. As for papers at the border all you need is passport and registration of the RV and NO GUNS. Hope that helped have a fun trip.

RE: Can you cover in the rain when a freeze is coming

If it is just going to get worse I would cover it before it snows . If you thinkit will dry up before the snow comes I would try for dry before covering. I got caught this year and it snowed before I got my cover on but it melted after a day and dried out so I got the cover on as quick as I could ,but if it hadent I think I would have taken a chance and covered it with a little snow on it rather than have 2 feet on and no cover . my thinking is with the cover on and wet or snow under it maybe it will melt and dry sooner than being in the open. good luck whatever you do.

RE: Not the usual winter cover question

I have covered mine when it was dirty and there was going to be a snowfall that wasn't going away till spring . I would rather cover it dirty than have snow and ice on the roof all winter.

RE: Sleeping In Our MH

Sorry you didn't get a good sleep I can't help with the heater I don't have one .we turn the furnace off at night and use a down quilt to cover up with ,when it gets really cold we add a couple of more blankets and cuddle up. The rain and the wind just rock us to sleep. the sound of rain on the roof is very soothing to us it is almost as good as the sound of rain on a tent and you don't have to woory about it coming inside.Sometimes when we are parked at home and it starts to rain we go out to the motorhome just to listen to the rain, mind you we havent been in a tornado with it. :)

RE: Wine glasses

we always use ridel glasses and we have a set of plastic clips we got at an rv store to hold the glasses in the cupboard. the clips are screwed into the side of the cupboard and the glass is held by the stem .they have worked for us for a couple of years now.

RE: Periodic propane smell while driving

Are you sure it is propane. If you drive with a front window open you may get a smell from your holding tanks even if they are empty .I have had this happen.

RE: Walmart

You should just go ask at the store or if there are allready a lot of RVs just park or if you have parked there before .Dont worry about people who don't think it isn't right for some reason I have stayed at rest stops, truck stops, walmart and I have even stayed at campgrounds even one that required that your rig be less than 10 yeas old (mine was older;) ). I still feel good about myself. :B

RE: heading to Canada next week. have a couple ?'s

The customs may or may not come inside your motorhome. I have never had the Canadians come inside and have Never had the US not come in? Canadian campgrounds are the same as the ones in the US if you need an adapter in the US you will need it in Canada if you don't you won't. other advice leave your guns at home, at border crossings either way answer the questions truthfully and briefly ,yes sir and no sir works best. welcome to Canada
