RE: Tow my Smart Car diesel

Jacques, How much drop do you have between the towbar at the back of the motorhome and the towbar at the front of the toad. You want them as level as possible, although 4" is permissible. Very good question. The drop is about 2" that was one thing I was please with because Demco say maximun 3".Looked more than that in the pic. 2" is real good. hope that the next pic will help to see it better http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z408/blackoctaupus/Itasca%20Spirit/MyA-FrameSetup-Copy.jpg height=400

RE: Tow my Smart Car diesel

I have understood the Smart diesel could not be towed four down. I tow my gas smart and loveit. Great toad for us. Did you mod it or just put in neutral and go? You are right, if you ask Mercedes they will tell you that you can't. I have found a web site in the UK that said otherwise and I contact Getragh (not to sure of the spelling). It is the people that build the transmission, say that it is possible. I have done no modification, all I do make sure it is in neutral and release handbrake, remove key from ignition and go. By saying this I'm not taking any responsability for any damage that may occur with someone else trying what I'm doing. Up to now I did a few small trip and everything was fine and hope it keep that way! Ho hey, I love towing my too!

RE: Tow my Smart Car diesel

own a vehicle that gets over 70 mpg (I'm correct on that, aren't I?) Well I will not call you a liar, If I go about 60 to 70 miles an hour I average about 65 to70 mpg but if I go 50 miles an hour and the wind is blowing in the back than I average a bit more than 90 mpg.:C

Alaska one day!

:h Hello everyone, I'm still planning my trip to alaska and my next question is: if you were to be leaving from Vancouver, BC to Alaska, could you name place you have been and would go back if you went back to Alaska. I would have a month to go to Alaska and I know more will be better but right now it is impossible or for the next 5 to 10 years but one month is feasable. I want to pick what people said it is worth stopping and go back too, so I can take avantage to the maximun of my month to make the trip! I know, I will get great answer to my question. Thank you all! ;)
