RE: BLM fire restrictions read if you are going to the desert

Thing is you are always supposed to have a permit, it is just never enforced in the Dez, in Kennedy meadows it is always enforced.

RE: New to RV-ing, looking for advice on 1/2-ton TH

If you have a truck scale at work, weight your suburban then add the weight of any passengers or cargo you will have in the Sub, then take that number and subtract it from you GVWR and GCVWR and see what you can really tow. Renting ia a great idea, you will need a brake controller to rent, the air bags can hold off for one trip until you decide if you are going to invest in those or upgrade the TV.

RE: New to RV-ing, looking for advice on 1/2-ton TH

I have the same TV and wound not tow over a 20' TH, no front sleeper in your future unless you upgrade the truck.

RE: What would yall recommend?

You should be fine with a TH around the 23 ft range of smaller. Most limiting factor will be the 5.3, I have one in my suburban, you will not want to be doing any steep grades.

RE: Need advice

I have sold 2 TH on CL, I only listed them in my local area but both buyers came from out of state. Make sure your pricing is in line 07'-08' Raptor 3612 will be in the $25-$29K range around here from what I have seen.

RE: Honda CRF450X or Yamaha WR450F

I would vote for orange as well....but you didn't ask that. Between blue and red I would go blue, the WR is just a much more reliable machine, you have a honda and know first hand what the top ends are like. The Yamaha is pretty bullet proof in comparison. I will say that both will be better than your 250 just because you will not be reving it as high, as often, you will be able to live in the lower end of the rpm range so it will last longer.

RE: First Post, Big Problems

Your rig was built by Thor of California, they are out of business, reopened as MVP, they are also out of business. As others have said repair it yourself and enjoy it.

RE: New Allegro Breeze deal does not seem that great....

..Tradein or not, and regardless what new unit you're buying, you should be able to do better than full MSRP! I'd keep looking, JMO. Next time you start 'negotiations' with a dealer, tell them you are not sure if you are going to give them your tradein, or sell it yourself. Start the negotiating on the premise that you are selling yourself, and no tradein is in the picture. That will force them to knock off that MSRP crap, and discount it some (20-30% off MSRP is 'bout what most have said they can get). Once you've negotiated a fair price that way for the MH you're buying, THEN, (if you still want them to take your Class C on tradein), tell them you've decided not to sell yourself, and want to know what they'll give you in tradein. I bet the numbers you get then will look MUCH better. :) I think what they're doing with the offer they gave you, is a typical 'retail for retail' deal. They give you full retail value for your tradein (to make you think you're getting a great deal), but also demand full retail value for the new MH you're buying. More often than not, you can do much better than that. JMHO, and some may disagree, but you should never have to pay full MSRP for a MH, especially in this day and time. Regardless of trade or not. That is, unless this is a MH you're having the dealer order specifically for you? If they're having one specifically ordered for you, its a whole different ballgame, and you lose a lot of negotiating power that you normally have when buying one off their lot. Oh, and I don't think there is any rule here against posting specifics of an offer you are working with. Most of us prefer not to divulge such matters in a public forum, but there's no rule against doing so. They are actually taking 50k off msrp and that is pretty close to 30%. The op still owes 40k on his lazydays and they are offering to pay that off (gets added to the 109k) and giving him another 10k. If he had no trade at all or if he sells his trade on his own then his price is around 109k (not full msrp). What he will probably end up with (from this dealer) with no trade is 20% to 30% off msrp (probably closer to 25%). If they were asking full msrp then his price would be the 159k and he would still have to pay for the lazy days and his total cost would be 199k. Todd Your numbers are waaaayyy off. He is paying full MSRP no matter what way you look at it, they are not paying off his RV and then he gets to keep it, if so and then he sold it for $40k he would be getting this discount. They are going to keep it sell it and will be out no $$$ or at most the $10k (which is the only maybe discount he would be getting). Basically what they are saying is they want you to pay full MSRP for the new Tiffin and we will buy your current rig for $50K and then we will turn around and sell it for $50K and make all our profit off the MSRP of the new Tiffin, that would never fly with me. Trade in and purchase are 2 different transactions, first go for the purchase and get the max discount you can, then look to see what they will do for trade in, if you don't like it sell it yourself.

RE: Tying down dirt bikes?

Use 2 tie downs on the bars like normal and then one on the rear frame, footpeg, wheel whatever... and use it the pull the bike backward to put pressue on the front straps.....did it this way for 4 years without issue.

RE: Attitude Toy Haulers?

Pro of the wall is you have a seperate garage area and can create a man cave or kids room, also makes the living area look more refined. Also with a wall they overcome some of the space issues with a slide or two. Con of the wall is it takes up a lot of space and separates your useable space. You have a huge big living area without the wall, but usually no slides. Some people are afraid that there will be gas fumes and such but I have only found that to be true (and temporary)when I messed up by not turning the gas off and letting the carb floats run dry. With just the 2 of you and your space constraints I would opt for the open floorplan.

RE: CrossRoads RV: Elevation

That is a brand new model and the floorplan has never been seen in the market as far as I know, crossroads builds a good unit. I don't know what the price is but if you like it offer 30% off retail and go from there, expect to end up close to 25% off.

RE: Sleeping in small toy hauler with toy inside

First off, typically you will not have any gas smell/fumes, that only happens if you left the gas on or there is some fuel left in the float bowl and it bounces out through the overflow, or you have a leak. If I were to take a trip like that and sleep in a wallmart I would just open up a couple of windows or vents and be fine with it.

RE: Anyone owne a Keystone Raptor?

I have an a 2007 3612DS. Ordered in in Sept 2006 and besides a few minor issues has been great (the gauge for the black holding tank goes whacky, but they all seem too). Quality and fit and finish is excellent, I have the gel coat sides and its still nice and shiny. Great dealer support, great manufacturer support (I added a second bedroom window in the overhead slide and actually talked to a Keystone rep, but that was 5 1/2 years ago). Went to the RV show recently and am a bit disappointed in how the toy haulers are turning out...too many gimmicks and gadgets in my opinion. The 1/2 bath is good, 16" wheels...but other things...like side decks and power awnings and doors..cmon, really? Again, just my .02. If I buy another TH it will probably be a raptor around 07-08 a 3712 and I agree that there are many gimmicks that the are coming out and many useless, but the power awning is great. You can leave camp and it the wind picks up while you are gone it rolls up automatically. One thing they should focus on is placing the television in a nice high place where everyone can see it, that seems to be lacking in most of the newer designs it is placed really low where someone walks by and is in the way or they place it where only part of the seats can see it.

RE: OK so with 200k budget this is what I am thinking...

Been said but the tiffin red and the Berkshire will be underpowered. The 42a is a really cool floor plan, I have had no issues with my discovery except a bad slide motor. I would only by used the hit you take the first year or two is brutal.
