RE: Cool Mods

Fisherguy Yeah, and an idea of cost? It's a fairly cheap option if you order a new trailer but I bet it would be almost twice that to change them after.................... --------------------- Not to fairly cheap. It ran me $1250 adder back in 2007. Don't know what it is now... but they do make a big difference...

RE: LED Motion Detector Lites

Yes, the package says for "indoor use". But, since I will only be using them when parked. I'm not worried about the weather. I will mount this back under the trailer facing the steps. When someone enters the step area at night they will go on for a minumum of 60 seconds. When traveling I'll just grab it and throw it inside by the door until the next stop. Plus they are only $10 each. I plan on using the other one (2 per package) inside by the bathroom hallway so if I get up late at night it will go on automatically. Anyway I just thought I would pass the info along. Happy trails,

RE: My LEDs

Just picked up an LED light strip from IKEA.... Take a look here LEd strip...Nice find! ------------------- If you're looking for Multi LED- Motion Detector Lites that are battery operated read on........ Found these today at Costco. Looking for a battery operated- motion detector- multi LED light for the trailer steps. Then at night the steps will be lit automatically by sensing motion. Both types come two to a package for $19.99 per package. The first one has 13 LED's in it and is very bright. Look here: 13 LED The second one has 10 LED's in it. Look here: 10 LED Also Duracell batteries are included in both. Amazon.com has them but much more expensive. I don't know how long Costco will carry them so if you're interested get moving. In both packages the LED's can be moved up & down plus the motion sensor can be adjusted up & down. Happy trails,

RE: high gas prices predicted this summer

The cost difference between $4 and $5 diesel on my 3500 mile summer vacation is about $300. Subtract what I would use if I stay home and it's closer to $200. Cancel a nice multi-week vacation for $200? Really? I don't think so. There will be less traffic. ------------- How about looking at it this way. 3500 miles at 10 MPG is 350 gallons of fuel at $5/gallon = $1750.00..... Just for fuel.

RE: I need a new table

Last year MaMa said she wanted a new dining table for the trailer with an extension. Looked everywhere... Bingo finally found what she wanted and installed it last summer. She loves it and I'm happy. Take a look here: Dining table. We bought the Wall Hugger model because one side stays stationary next to the window. The legs don't move out just the table top. Happy trails,

RE: My LEDs

Just picked up an LED light strip from IKEA. Has 3 sections of 7 LED's each and they all just plug into each other. Comes with a 120 Volt male socket- transformer- and on/off switch. Take a look here LEd strip... After testing it out I noticed that the output of the transformer is 12 Volt DC. So I unsnapped the LED strip from the transformer and jumper 12 Volt DC from my battery and it worked great. Come with small clips to hold the strips in place and all for just $14.99. And it's onlu 2700K so the light looks ligh an incandesent light. Just thought ya might like to know.

RE: high gas prices predicted this summer

We've already cancelled our Yellowstone - Glacier Nat'l Park vacation this year. Will be camping much closer to home. Fuel prices are really cutting into our travel plans. Was planning on next year winter trip to Arizona but figuring 2000 miles one way at 10 miles/ gallon that roughly $900 in fuel one way. I mean that's more than a months rent at a RV resort. Just not worth it anymore. Happy trails,

RE: Why Is Gasoline Consumption Tanking?

=gmcsmoke Do you even know the definition of a depression and recession? GDP grew by 2.8% last year. we're not in a depression and we're certainly not in a recession. ---------------------- Simple: Recession = Others guys out of work. Depression = I'm out of work.... Happy trails,

RE: 2012 bad year for traveling

RE: Why Is Gasoline Consumption Tanking?

Regarding the conspiracy theories and the oil industry, it's easy to look up what they pay in taxes, what their profit margins are, and what sort of wages they pay. If you compare them to most businesses, they're operating on smaller profit margins, paying more taxes, and tend to pay higher wages than most companies for similar types of work. Yea, prices go up during times of peak demand, as they do for foods, hotel rooms, etc. etc. In the end, oil companies are there to make a profit. If they can't make any money at it, we can't expect them to produce just to keep us happy. ----------------- EXXON make record profits year after year. plus they get government subsidies. Go figure..................

RE: Why Is Gasoline Consumption Tanking?

WE had planned on a Western vacation this year. You know out to Yellowstone, up to Glacier National Park and then into Canada. Well, that's cancelled this year. We'll stick to the Mid-west & East Coast trips.

RE: Why Is Gasoline Consumption Tanking?

------Golden_HVAC That is very well put!And America finally is a net exporter of fuel again - we exported more fuel last year than we imported for the first time since the 70's. That may be due to more fuel being discovered in the Dakota's, and exporting ethanol to Europe so they can run 15% in their gasoline. Changing to a more fuel efficient cars, or riding a bike to work is what a lot of people are doing! And not taking out the boat or RV nearly as much as in the past. My boss has a goal of cutting down the number of gallons of gas by 15%, and is getting more energy efficient vehicles. He might even change from E-250 vans to Transit connect mini van. Once they have the 2L Ecoboost engine and 20 MPG with a reasonable payload, that will look very good from a fuel cost and reliability standpoint. I am not sure on the amount of diesel fuel or jet fuel that America exports to Europe, but I think it is increasing. So if the fuel processors are shutting down plants back east, they probably already tried to sell as much as possible to the European market, rather than idle a plant......Fred. --------------------- Fred, I for one would like verification of the U.S. exporting more fuel than importing. I've not seen any data supporting that. Just the opposite. Happy trails,

RE: New mattress time

I laid on a Serta that was in a class A, about a $90k vehicle, and was very impressed. Didn't see them on the net, so I bought a Parklane from CW for $309 shipped. I've read nothing but great reviews on it and we wanted an innerspring. ------------------- Went there Mattress but no king sizes. 72" x 76" is impossible it seems.

RE: New mattress time

We just purchased a Dometic/Serta RV mattress and love it. It is so much better than what we had. We bought the better of the two innerspring models; there is also a foam version. It was delivered in less than a week and the price includes free shipping. ----------------- Sure wish they had a 72" x 76" king size. Can't find them anywhere. Happy trails,

RE: An unscrupulous dealer strikes again.

We seen the same thing at the RV show in Monroe, MI sponsored by General RV and it was not just TT but on 5ers. When I asked a salesman about it all he said it would pull the rig but when I asked further about if it was safe he walked off. ----------------------- Two years ago a fellow camper friend of mine bought a 34 foot LaCrosse trailer and is using his ½ ton Ford pick up to pull it. Had no problems going down I-75 to Florida. On the way back he leaves us to pick up his Grandkids in Virginia. There he drives through the mountains. After over an hour of white-knuckling it he said he will never drive through mountains again. His engine was screaming going up the mountian and he was scared to death coming down. And yes the saleslady at General RV (Wixom, MI) said it could pull. Pulling is no problem. Handling & stopping is.

RE: More LED lights (long post with lots of pictures)

While at the Novi RV Show we noticed some nice improvements. Lighter (ultra-Lite) units. Electric stabilizers. Prettier upholstery. More drawers with metal bearing sliders. Less carpeting & more choices of flooring. Aluminum wheels. etc....etc.... This year we noticed that many of these features are now standard. I do wish they had more of a selection of part suppliers there. Was hoping to get some ideas on upgrading our RV's. Happy trails,

RE: More LED lights (long post with lots of pictures)

Bill,Did Kraig state when they made the upgrade addressing the RF issue? I installed my Command Electronics LED's last year, and satisfied thus far (haven't noticed any RF issues). Bob -------------- Bob, here's a copy of the email I got 2 days ago. Kraig didn't respond but their VP did............ Bill, We have since re-designed the boards to eliminate this issue. You should have no trouble. Thanks, Chris Christopher Campagna Vice President ============================= BTW, did you go to the RV Expo in Novi yet? Wife & I went yesterday. Saw a nice $349,000 Tiffen Motorhome. Now if I can just win that lottery!!! Happy trails,
