RE: Wifi Hotspot Interference

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/SCVJeff/Bill.jpg height=100 width=100 I started using a QR code as my signature in August of 2010. Since that time I have had 14+ people message me and say they read the QR code, enjoyed reading it and said something positive about my using it. From what I have just read in this thread Moderator's here are not thrilled that QR codes are being used. Go figure, here in the Technology forum and they can't deal with QR codes ......... hmmm, go figure.. Anyway, QR codes are something we all should get used to as they are becoming more and more apart of our daily life and will continue to do so. Those that balk at using QR codes or others using QR codes are more then likely older people that are resistant to technology although they say they are not. Younger people understand that for technology to move forward you have to embrace it.

RE: Backup Camera & Monitor Mounted on RV On All The Time??

I have the rear back-up camera on my 2011 Nissan Murano LE car wired so I can turn the back-up camera on while moving forward. With a click of a remote fob button the back-up camera is on when moving forward. Click of the same button to turn off when I press the remote button again. Having the rear camera on when moving forward is terrific in regard to safety. Those vehicles hiding in the blind spots are revealed plain as day. I can also easily view my trailer hitch/trailer load if I am towing my motorcycle trailer. No reason you cannot do as you suggest. Just have it powered so when the vehicle is turned off the power to the camera is off. Also have it switched so you can turn off and on as desired while driving.

RE: 2003 Fleetwood Bounder 35E toilet drain problen

Extra water when you flush and use the correct toilet paper. Don't get crazy with the amount of toilet paper used when you s__t / w__e and you will have no issues. Note.. not sure if you know but if you pull the flush lever up it adds water to the bowl.

RE: Wifi Hotspot Interference

Things to consider... Remember a laptops WiFi antenna usually resides in the laptop cover/lid. Keep this antenna as far away from power cords and other computer wires as possible. Those cords and wires can interfere with WiFi radio reception. When you are using the laptop blocking /not giving the lids WiFi antenna a clear line of site will impact your WiFi. The lids spacial orientation (which way the lid is facing) will also affect WiFi. SO, you can enhance your WiFi reception often by sitting somewhere different in your RV when you are using the laptop. Not sitting where the laptop's lid is blocked.. say leaning up against a chair, a wall, etc.. Believe it or not, minimize mirrors if you can in the immediate area. All metallic surfaces reflect WiFi signals, including the thin metal layer found in most mirrors... Another thing you can do, especially if you have the option to do so is to change the channel that your WiFi is using. Often WiFi is "stepped on" interfered with intermittently, by other wireless devices, etc. using the same channel. This will cause WiFi to come and go... to lose signal on and off so to speak for no reason. At the very least, be aware that cordless phones and such being used by you or your campground neighbors may be having an impact on your WiFi if they are using the same channel. Even a microwave oven, your RV converter, etc. can knock out/intermittently affect your WiFi. You might want to take time to speak with others in your campground. See if they are having issues as you are.

RE: Towing Jeep

Regarding the M1 fuse in the picture above. This fuse is disengaged if when flat towing your JK, the supplemental braking system does not co-exist harmoniously with your Cool Tech lighting harness(rare) resulting in brake lights lighting inappropriately. In this case, disengage the M1 fuse and all will be well. Do note that with the M1 fuse pulled the third brake light above the tire will be inoperable.

RE: Towing Jeep

In regard to all Jeep Wrangler JK's 2007 - 2012. If you plan on storing or not using the Jeep for say 3 weeks or more it is advantageous to disengage the IOD fuse on the vehicle. Parasitic power draw occurs when the vehicle is just sitting there not running even with the key in the off position. With prolonged storage / vehicle not being started, the vehicle's battery can and will be depleted by parasitic power draw possibly to the point where the vehicle may not start. The manufacturer routinely disengages the IOD fuse during the period when they are transporting the vehicle from the factory across country on train, etc.. I should point out, with the IOD fuse pulled the vehicle will still start and can be driven.

RE: Towing Jeep

On 2010, 2011 Wrangler JK you do not have to disengage the IOD or disconnect the battery. The 2010 and 2011 JK do not have a steering wheel lock mechanism so you put the transfer case in neutral than place the automatic transmission in "park", (if it is a standard place gear shift in highest forward gear) then just turn the key to the off position and remove the key. Rig is now ready for flat towing. Note/Important: As many here know JK's manufactured from 2007 to mid 2008 did in fact have a steering wheel lock mechanism and thus the key had to be left in the ignition, the key turned, (IOD fuse disengaged or battery disconnected on long trips) when you flat towed. Some late 2008 and very early production 2009 Wrangler JK's have a steering wheel lock so I did not make a blanket statement and say all 2008 and 2009's could be towed with key turned to off and key out of ignition. All 2010 and 2011 JK's are without a steering lock mechanism. http://auffarth.com/towingfuses.jpg

RE: Android vs iPhone

Most people that complain about issues/problems with an iPhone or Android cellphone have issues / problems with their laptops/home computers, etc., also. These ongoing issues with computer or cellular phone are most always because the user himself or herself is lets say not up to speed technology wise. Across the board, it is usually not the device but the user that is lacking. Both the iphone and Android phones are terrific offerings but you have to know how to finesse them, set them up, tweak them and such.. There is a learning curve............

RE: Generator Exhaust

The exhaust of my genset in my Keystone 3814 is vented out to the right side of the trailer. Can I turn the exhaust and vent it out the left side? As you know, the right side is the enjoyment area, and the smell of the exhaust and the heat make the area uncomfortable. Any ideas? My Thor is vented out the left side. Either add pipe and have it exhaust to the other side or leave it coming out right side, add pipe and route the exhaust up. People have done both.

RE: I'm back ASUS problem again

Snipe: Your right though it is something internal, as the culprit is back today. Be sure you are using the Windows 7 version of Verizon Access Manager for your specific Verizon cellular broadband device.

RE: I'm back ASUS problem again

Guess I don't recall blaming ASUS itself. Well, you did entitle your topic "I'm back ASUS problem again " Reality is that it is not an ASUS problem but a set-up problem that you could face with an Asus, Dell or whatever.. 8-)

RE: New York State in late September

We tried to visit Upstate New York around Oct. 10 last year and couldn't find any campgrounds that were going to be open any later than Oct. 15! We figured out why when just two weeks later that area got two feet of snow! :B Peg Well, not the norm to see snow around Halloween time there or elsewhere in New York. There are campgrounds still open though few. Reality is you can visit most anywhere and not have to use a campground. There are other alternatives. In the past I have given a small business owner, homeowner with a lot or someone else with enough parking room a few bucks to let me park my class A overnight or for a couple of nights. Can tell you without question though the prettiest time / most memorable scenery time is during the "peak color period" of Fall, in Upstate NY.

RE: New York State in late September

Personally, I'd say do it in Oct. around Halloween if you can. The Fall in Upstate New York is a sight for the eyes.

RE: Dead Battery in Wrangler

Op, I encourage you to use the search feature on this forum. Search the words JK, Billarf, and you will come up with lots of info pertaining to battery draw on a JK when flat towing. Info on disengaging the IOD fuse when necesssary, etc. When you search search back over a year as remember the JK has been around since 2007. Can tell you that it is more then likely that your Brake Buddy is the culprit. Can tell you without question it is not the Wrangler JK. You will not see a Wrangler JK 2007 to 2011 battery's depleted in 2 hrs of flat towing regardless of set-up.... unless of course there is a supplemental braking system that is depleting the battery or some other accessory like a 12v portable picnic cooler in the JK, etc. depleting the battery. My guess is the Brake Buddy is set incorrectly so it is coming into play to much. Either that or something is wrong with the Brake Buddy. I question this connection you say you have between RV's 12v and toad.

RE: Pine sap off T.P.O. roofs

Try fingernail polish remover on a small spot to see if has any bad effect on the roof. You can buy fingernail (acetone)polish at Lowes by the gallon fairly cheap. Where rubber gloves as it penetrates skin fairly easily. Very explosive in an enclosed area. Don't breathe too much. Do not use acetone on a TPO roof! Dawn, warm water and a gentle scrubbing will take it off unless it has been on there for an extended amount of time.

RE: 2011 wrangler unlimited towing 4 down ????

The 2004 Wrangler TJ has a steering lock mechanism/one type of mechanism. ALL 2004 Wranglers in the USA left the factory with the exact same steering lock mechanism. Of course there be a rare few that have been modified. Anyway, when you turn off the Wrangler TJ and remove the key you can move the wheel left and right a small ways but move it more then that small ways and the steering locks. They are all this way. There is only this way and no other locking mechanism for the 2004 Wrangler TJ. By the way, I have owned 4 Wranglers. I have a 2004 which was my toad for about 5 years. Below is a pic of my 2004 which my Son rolled and totaled this past Saturday. He is ok.. Forced off the road by a driver going North in the South bound lanes. http://auffarth.com//BillFolder/wrecked.jpg height=400 width=400

RE: 2011 wrangler unlimited towing 4 down ????

And what was wrong, do you know my Jeep at all, it does not have a normal lock column, and I had my wife watch out the rear window and the steering wheel never turns past a quarter turn. :h Well, guess your Wrangler TJ is a special one of a kind, only one in the USA kinda TJ. I suggest others reading your posts here disregard the info you have posted (or risk pricey damage to their TJ) as their TJ is not at all like your very special one of a kind TJ.

RE: Droid X phone call volume

Volume Locker and Sound Manager are two different free apps that address/handle well, all the issues mentioned by posters in this thread. Recommend that you install both apps and try them out.

RE: 2011 wrangler unlimited towing 4 down ????

Yes I am aware that mine is a TJ and not a JK, but the TJ has 2 styles of steering wheel lock, a key lock and a non key lock steering column, mine is the none key lock type, the steering wheel will not lock until steering wheel is turn half way or upside down, most flat towing the wheel will not turn past a quarter turn, was wondering if I still need to leave the key in just to be on the safe side, for now the key stays in, mine is one click back from off since it has no key lock. :R Wrong on both statements! Anyone reading what is in the quote above should totally disregard same.

On my 08, is the IOD fuse the 25 amp silver one? Thanks. It's marked IGN and something else. Mark This picture pertains to any 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Jeep Wrangler JK http://auffarth.com/towingfuses.jpg
