RE: Which base plate

We are satisfied with the Blue Ox system, Aventa LX tow bar and Blue Ox baseplates. No problems with either. Personally I would stay with the Blue Ox base plate so that you would not need an adaptor (if necessary). Detailed instructions for base plate installation are available on the Blue Ox website. RE: No Water!

You might try this. At your city water inlet, depress the "stem" inside the inlet while you have someone turns on the pump for a second. If you get wet, then problem is outside, if you don't, then problem is a blockage inside. That way you will know where to start looking. If the valve stem is not there, then it is a bad one way check valve. The valve has come out of its seat, and jamming the flow to the RV. Approx $10.00 diy repair. Beverley and Ken

RE: propane detector

Ours did that when we first picked up the new RV. It was low voltage from RV batteries even when plugged in. Batteries were not maintained when sitting on dealers lot and froze over winter. Interstate Batteries stepped up and replaced batteries, the detector has not gone off since (now 4yrs). Beverley and Ken

RE: 2012 Jeep Liberty

I just looked through those instructions last night. My impression was that the Liberty was one of the easier vehicles to install a base plate on. We are looking at a 2012 CR-V - that seems really complicated compared to the Liberty. The 12 CR-V appears much easier than the older Accord. The Liberty should bed very easy. Just waiting for a free day without rain to do ours. Beverley and Ken

RE: Chassis Battery Question

Mike: Use the switch beside the entry door to keep the steps locked in the out position, saves battery power. We found that with ours, using the remote key fob also drained the chassis battery, it left the Ford reading lights on for about 30 seconds. Finally installed a trik l charger to the chassis batter, no problems now. Beverley and Ken

RE: A question about Insulin

I'd let your glucose reading be your guide but...get instructions for how to handle the situation directly from your doctor. It really SHOULD be part of the prescription dosing instructions. Diabetes is a disease that effects different people entirely differently so what works for one will not necessarily work for someone else. Good luck / Skip x2 My wife has been a diabetic for almost 60yrs, Even with her there a many variables to account for. Let YOUR OWN DOCTOR be your guide. Lantus is a long acting insulin, on my wife the effects last about 24hrs, so timing is important to her. The pharmacist only writes the dosing instructions that are given by YOUR doctor. Trust only YOUR OWN DOCTOR, and get instructions on the what if circumstances. Beverley and Ken

RE: Pressure Washing

Use ours periodicaly, its only about 1500psi and never closer than about 12 inches, even further away around decals and openings. It is a good water saver. Beverley and Ken

RE: Experience with Accu-check or One Touch Glucose Meters?

My wife has used the Accu-Check brand for at least 10 years, no problems. Periodically when she had blood work done, she and the lab will compare the readings from her Accu-Check to the actual lab work, they have always been the same or very close. Beverley and Ken

RE: I75 thru Cincinnati

It will be heavy and slow, but as long as there are no accidents it will move. We took it two weeks ago same time. It's the right way to go. Stay on 75.... x2 plus the fact that the by-pass adds considerable miles to your trip and it also can be very busy. Beverley and Ken edit to correct spelling

RE: rear view camera

Primarily for the toad. Ours shows from the back bumper of the MH to about 1 car length behind the toad. I use the mirrors for the traffic. Beverley and Ken

RE: Water Heater Draining Procedure

Winnebago uses a single bypass (diverter) valve and two check valves - one on the input and one on the output. One of them may be bad. I don't think the bypass valve is in the wrong position because you would still get plenty of cold water flowing out of the hot water tap if it were. Ditto: We had a very similar problem last year, it was the check (one way valve) on the tank output line. DIY replacement was less than $10.00 Beverley and Ken

RE: Canadian Shipping Costs

Dear Marcus: If I am ordering something from a U.S. based store, I watch very closely on how it is shipped. UPS have a brokerage fee plus ?? that is charged to the Canadian Consumer when it is delivered, this is above the regular shipping charges. Last item, special fit manufacted part for RV, had a declared value of $130.00. Part and shipping charges were charged and paid to the U.S. dealer, then when UPS arrived at our door we had to pay another $95.00. Another item from a U.S. light dealer (LED signal lights) had a declared value of $75.00 and was shipped via USPS. Shipping charges were less that $8.00 and when we picked it up at the Canadian Post Office they said that there were NO additional charges. This has happened before with USPS shipping. To use an example of a U.S. based company that sells to Canadians would be Crutchfield.com audio. They have or have use of a Canadian warehouse that supplies products to the Canadian Consumer. They also have a link to a Canadian based/priced website that we can order from. When we call for customer support, the phone is answered in Virginia, but the final shipment is from the Canadian location. The prices are slightly higher than U.S. but that is normal for almost anything. I do not know the ins and outs of shipping items across the border for companies like youself, warehouse to warehouse. We have ordered other items from different companies, that also a have a sticker return address, the same as Crutchfield, so I don't know if Crutchfield own the warehouse?? or it is private company that serves many companies. We and many others would love to see a Camping World store in Ontario, either in the Toronto area or Burlington to Niagara area. The competition would definitely be good for the Consumer and might help stabilize the prices we are charged. Beverley and Ken

RE: Ft Wilderness(again) post pics

At Fort Wilderness, you cannot request a specific site or even a specific loop. When you make your reservation, it is for the type of site you want, Partial hookups, Full hookups, Preferred and Premium sites. Virtually all sites are good, each loop will have its advantages. Some are closer to the Outpost Settlement, beach boats and restaurants, some are closer to the pools. The 2000 loop (partial hookup) is the only one (IMHO) that is not very close to anything but nature. You will enjoy FW regardless of what loop you are assigned to. Beverley and Ken

RE: How much longer is the drive in an RV?

We think 2 days is reasonable. We comfortably do it in 3 days in a 29' c-class, but our first overnight stop is just south of Cincy in northern KY. 2nd night is in GA, 30-50miles north or south of Atlanta. That makes a easy drive to Disney arriving around supper time. We usually stop every 2-3hrs, drive about 60mph. Many variables, but it may be easier with the kids in MH, more entertainment available. A poor handling MH, would be much more tiring. Beverley and Ken

RE: Scooter towing/hitch

What type of vehicle do you have? Most cars, 1/2 ton pickups and A-class gas MH have a vertical, tongue weight of 500lbs. Even then a class4 receiver may fit, but still would not raise the capacity about 500lbs. Beverley and Ken

RE: HELP!!! Greyhawk 31 FS

In the converter panel, usually brown steel panel covering it, one of the circuit breakers on the 120v side, is usually the main breaker. One ours, it is the left breaker and labeled MAIN. If it tripped or turned off, you will not have any 120v to the RV. Turn it off and on again to be sure, sometimes if it is tripped you cannot tell by position. Beverley and Ken

RE: Question about awning

It is a home made clamp to keep the awning from unraveling in high wind conditions. There are several commercial types available from RV stores. We had this happen once on the highway, fabric unfurled and blowing over the roof, ripped beyond repair. Tube and arms still securely locked to trailer. Beverley and Ken

RE: free place to sleep on I-80

Any small city/large town will generally have Walmarts, Cracker Barrels etc close to the interstates. About an hour before we are ready to stop, we will look on GPS and visually for Walmarts etc that are close to our route. We have never had a Walmart in a smaller area tell us that overnight Parking was prohibited. Beverley and Ken

RE: Skylight Replacement

On our Winnebago c-class, the inner and outer parts are totally separate items. The inner part, with light is screwed to the ceiling and the outer shell is held to the fibre by an adhesive and then sealed to the fibreglass roof panel. Even without the bubble, there is about 4 to 5 inches of space (roof thickness) between them. Beverley and Ken
