RE: Type of gasoline for small engines?

If you are looking for Small engine fuel use; there is a new alternative for the ethanol crap. It comes in quart cans, is very expensive and is coming into wider use. I recently bought a new Echo HC-150 hedge trimmer and discovered that this stuff was available. It is a pure fuel without ethanol. 92 octane, and comes pre mixed in 40:1 or 50:1 ratios of synthetic oil. My can is named 'Trufuel". You can look it up at www.trufuel50.com. It cost me $5.65+tax at Lowe's and so far so good. Maybe I won't have to buy new tools because they sat awhile! I did also see it at Home Depot and our local Western Auto. (WA does charge more-like always)
Good luck and safe travels!

RE: best A/C degreaser

Not sure if it is a grease cutter but I read somewhere about a spray can foam coil cleaner. I went to Lowe's and bought 2 cans and used it on my 2 a/c units. Since I had drain lines in my coil pans I didn't have to worry about the paint. The stuff sure worked good. You might want to check it out at Lowe's.
Good luck and safe travels!

RE: Chainsaw

If you want some good chains (professional) that will cut chips instead of sawdust, try www.baileysonline.com. Be warned that most of the chains do not have the anti kickback feature used in homeowner type chains! They cut, and very well, but will kick back and hurt you very badly if you are not attentive and know what you are doing. They also sell safety equipment and repair parts etc.
Good luck, safe travels and SAFE CUTTING!

RE: RV friendly Fuel Stations

"RVers Friend" or "Truckers Friend" for places, not just interstates, that will handle big rigs and what facilities are available. Around $15.00 I believe. Good luck and safe travels!

RE: Interstate Workaholic U2200 batteries Naples FL area

Sam's also carries a a good equivalent battery. It is a GC-2 going for around the same price. I bought 2 of them 3 years ago and they are still going strong in my old trailer, which I sold to my daughter and son-in-law. Good luck and safe travels!

RE: I-10 E at Houston to I-45

TrashHauler:
If you want to avoid traffic and have a nice quiet fairly scenic drive;
you might want to try the route we use between San Antonio and Conroe. (Conroe is about 8 miles south of Willis) We get off of I-10 at exit 704 crossover I-10 and then take state highway 949 to farm to market 2429. Turn left on FM2429. FM2429 then dead ends into SH36 which is on the southern edge of Bellville. Turn left on SH36 and proceed into town and then turn right over the railroad tracks onto SH159 which takes you into Hempstead. In Hempstead you will come to a stop light. Turn right and go to the next stop light which is at McDonalds. At the McDonalds turn left on US290 Business route. You will then run into SH6 which will take you to SH105 just before Navasota. Turn right on SH105 and proceed on SH105 into Conroe and then turn left on I-45 at Conroe. Go north on I-45 and get off at the Willis exit. Sounds a lot more complicated than it is! Good route and road for keeping the blood pressure down. I have run this route in a 12 ft high motor home without any problems. Good luck and safe travels!

RE: "Friend" plugged our trailer into a 220v outlet!

Memory not being too good, I think there is a very good RV tech in your neck of the woods named Doug Grainer. He posts on here frequently. Search for him by name and make an appointment and rest assured he can fix it or give you valuable advice. Good luck and safe travels!

RE: Camping in SW Utah

We stayed at Bauers Canyon Rv Park in Glendale, Ut. Did have to drive a lot but enjoyed the scenery. From there we took in Grand Canyon North, Zion and Bryce then moved on to Torrey. If we had more time would have tried to stay nearer each park. Will make the trip again, God willing.
Beautiful country, enjoy it wherever you go/stay. Good luck & safe travels!

RE: 12V to 6V changeover, all done, NICE!

If you do a search you can find a cable crimper on the I net. It is a hammer strike device that has a V notch to take a series of different sizes. Cost is about $30. I have had real good luck with one. It also makes a connection that won't vibrate and come loose. Soldered connections have been known to come loose under vibration and jarring like the RV experiences. Good luck and safe travels!

RE: What is the best place you've ever eaten at on the road?

Mel's Diner in Tomball, Texas. Just ask the locals for directions. All fresh and they have a 1 foot tall hamburger that will get your name on the wall if you can eat it all.
Good luck!

RE: Surge protector question...

I have one of the portables also. Don't put to much faith in the locking tab on the cable. It is aluminum and all it would take is a good pair of diagonal cutters to open the lock hole and POOF it's gone!
I do believe that if it had a 1/4 inch steel tab that it would take a lot more effort and be more secure. Good luck!

One of the first things I bought when I went class A was the 50 amp portable model. It is my second one. I had a 30 amp portable when I had a TT. Wouldn't be without it! Good luck!

RE: slow slide

I had slide problems (slow, intermittent, etc.) After checking the batteries and wiring I finally found out that there was a controller (in an obscure location) for the motor that worked the slide. It handles the high current that the operating switch couldn't. It turned out that the connections on the the controller weren't tight. A few turns with a nut driver and all was well until we sold the trailer to daughter and son in law.
Good luck!

RE: Great Falls Montana

Been there twice in trailer and MH (including this June). Daughter SIL and grandkids live there. Dick's RV Park is the place. Friendly people and a good place. Not a resort but better than a lot I have seen. Pay attention to the map on how to get there. You have to go off and around to enter the park. Easy once you do it. Best of luck and enjoy your stay.

Call Monaco and get the owners manual for your coach. It may cost a little ($65) but it will be worth it as it will tell you what you need to know. Good luck!

RE: Transmission shot in East Glacier, Montana

Hiking Hunter has the answer. Not cheap but I do believe that he has a real good warranty as long as you provide good info as to how you will use it. I considered it but I no longer tow. I went to the dark side and got a class A. You can also find a lot of info on him and his work on the Ford forum "thedieselstop.com". Good luck!

RE: Replacing fan blades in bathroom exhaust vent

If the blade rotates in the wrong direction, reverse the motor leads and that will take care of your problem. The fan motors are DC not AC.
Good luck!
