RE: Rt. 12 Ocracoke & Hatteras Islands

See my post on this thread re the Ferry. I doubt this will be a problem after the coming week...but keep checking the NC Ferry web site would be my advice.

Music download transportability

Some advice please. I buy some songs from Amazon, or who ever, and they get downloaded to, let's say, my laptop. I want to hear these songs, that I have paid for, on my Droid phone, or my Samsung Tablet, or a MP3 player. I run into all kinds of problems doing this because of copyright protections. I'm not trying to deprive the artists of their $. I just want to hear the songs I paid for.
Right now, I'm having to buy them for each device. It's not a huge $ issue (compared to gas or new MH tires:E) but is their a solution that this geezer is missing? Thanks in advance. Steve
PS: I listen to these in the MH so this is relevant to RV.net :)

Hatteras - Ocracoke Ferry Limited Operations

If you are planning on taking the Hatteras-Ocracoke Ferry during the next few days/week you need to keep an eye on the NC Ferry website clicky.. There is shoaling at the inlet and they cancelled for a little bit but in a Tweet today they say "NCDOT_Ferry: Hatteras ferry operations have resumed as of 3:15 pm. Taking light loads. 252.986.2353 for more."

RE: Another TPMS thread

I had TST sensors on all of my tires but one. Guess which one lost air and destroyed itself and I never knew it til I was plugging in at the CG? (Inside dual). I don't leave without TST's on all MH and TOAD tires after that $600 mistake.

The FMCA magazine this month has a very good article on this subject. If you're not a member, maybe it is on their website? It inspired me to do mine.....tomorrow.

Bunks are great storage areas when Grandson isn't with us. Love the bunks.

RE: towing a 5200# jeep with a gas motorhome; 8.1 l wrkhrs

I've pulled one with our 35U and 35J (V10's) in the states and Mexico shown on our signature. Probably 60,000 miles including mountains in Mexico and bad roads. Never know the GC is there. No issues. No significant diff in gas mileage towing or not. I use a SMI Stay in Play brake controller. The weight/TOAD police will protest.

RE: Cheap 32" "LED" LCD TV $219

OP...thanks for posting this. Like others I saw it was sold out but I got the LCD version since it is for the stick house. Arrived today and I'm very impressed! Excellent picture, sound, everything. Instructions and markings on the back are very clear. Even has 3 HDMI ports.
If it lasts, I'll snatch the other version for the MH since we dry camp some and the LCD eats the batteries. Hard to believe all this for $200 and only weighs about 20 pounds...the tube it replaced required 2 of us since it was so heavy. Thanks again. Steve

RE: Outer Banks Ferry

.. The Ferry terminal is out in the middle of nowhere tho.
Hey! That's my village you're talking about! :) But, yes it is and we like it that way.
OP: suggest you get reservations on the Cedar Island- Occracoke run, depending on when you're doing this...the boats can fill up in prime time, esp since they have cut some runs. I'd also keep checking the schedule because they keeping messing with it. Here's a LINK to do both.
The Occracoke-Hatteras run is no-reservations (and free). But, don't be surprised when they load late comers in front of you. Island residents and businesses that have permits because they supply the Island, get priority. You may not get on the first ferry.
The other question usually asked is if a rig can go on it. If the vehicle is road legal in NC, it can go. We see huge rigs with TOADS all the time. Lot's of tour buses and 18 wheelers.
Enjoy.

RE: Tire Pressure Monitors

I'm out $600 because all of my tires had TST sensors on them but 1. Guess which tire, an inside dual, got low pressure and destroyed itself? I don't know how long I rode on it and never felt a thing. Saw it in the CG. TST for me...excellent customer service also.

RE: Hijacking (Shooting) on Toll Road Near Minatitlan

This is a record: a thread on this subject has stayed alive for so long. Bravo to the posters and to Pulsar.
IMHO Crandle's and Moisheh's most recent posts sum it up...not to take anything from the other contributions, e.g., Mexbungalo's (sp?...can't go back to look) and Chris'. The latter 3 have skin in the game since they have property and huge ties there.
No, not CIA, just retired Army. But, I have been shot at but was getting paid to do so and understood that this was what I signed up for. My bride (of several decades) had not signed up for that. Situational Awareness (aka SA) is terminology I learned from USAF fighter pilots. It means get your head out of the cockpit and look at what is going on ALL around you. I suspect that all folks in dangerous occupations have similar expressions. I've heard LEO's talk about "hinky"....something just doesn't feel right...time to exit stage left.
We still hope to come back next season if health issues go away...but we will practice SA!

RE: Hijacking (Shooting) on Toll Road Near Minatitlan

If Croft Crandle says this is true I would believe him....his character is not one to exaggerate. Sad that this has happened but the economy here in Mexico as in North of the border is suffering and so are the people.
What I was going to say about Croft but you beat me to it.

RE: Samsung tablet owners

Well, I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH1800, manufacturer refurbished off eBay. I watched the used ones go for $200±, day after day, with no warranty and scratched my head as to why people are paying that much for a used one, when you can get a factory refurbished, with warranty, for just a few dollars more....:S..Thanks for all the input.
Texan: got a link to where you bought?
I love toys but need to get my line straight when I approach DW on this. Am I correct that a tablet doesn't replace a laptop (because of the word processing) and it doesn't replace a Smart Phone (like the Droid X2) because it really isn't optimized as a phone and is too big to stuff in a pocket. A tablet is in-between. This a fair summary? Steve
