RE: Seasonal Site Convenience vs. Campgrounds?

OP here. BarryD, sorry to hear about your bad experience with a seasonal site. We spent last weekend at our new seasonal site and I must say that I am more impressed now than ever. The site was well prepared and ready for us, the owner spent an hour with us getting our sewer connections right (he provided all the 4" PVC and connections), they laid down a huge layer of new rock and level our site, cut out a few trees that were hanging over, delivered us a huge load of wood ($25 bucks for about 100 pieces of oak) and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. This is my first time in a seasonal site and so far all is great. They have a private boat ramp on property that puts us right on a prime fishing area of the Lake of the Ozarks. All this for $1,000 (+electic meter) a year. I'm not trying to boast, but I am just really pleased with this place. The owners make all the difference in this situation. Kudos to these people for doing a great job in running their business. Glad you found a nice campground. I know they are out there. I can't believe they are all like the one we picked. Have a great summer!

RE: Seasonal Site Convenience vs. Campgrounds?

We tried Seasonal Camping. It was a disaster. Read about it on a Blog I wrote to give some people insight to our seasonal camping experience. Writing the Blog was good therapy. :B My Seasonal Camping Blog

RE: Storage lot theft

We has someone live in ours for a few days one winter. Kept it clean. Used an ashtray. Didn't use the toilet. Weird.

RE: Season Camping

First piece of advise is don't stay for the season before you have tried it out.

RE: New Service Centres on 401

It is the same as before. A couple of cents higher than everywhere else. The have Full Serve on the outside Pumps as usual. The Food selection was pretty much the same just different chains. They have Starbucks and Tim Hortons in some of them. Nice chairs to sit in. Very nice change from the old Service Centers.

RE: Do you take a golf cart along?

So you have to buy a golf cart to get the wife out of the RV and into the Toad during travel between Campgrounds. :B Reminds me of a saying: The trick to a happy marriage is we go out for a romantic dinner twice a week. He goes on Wednesdays I go on Fridays.

RE: Our Seasonal Trailer Park Experience

Thanks again for the comments. I would have to agree with people that management plays a big part in a Trailer Park. The managers there now were residents of the park. So their friends get away with anything. We are glad it's over. Lessons learned the hard way as usual. It hasn't turned us off camping or even trying another Seasonal Trailer Park. We are just a lot wiser now.

RE: Our Seasonal Trailer Park Experience

Thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoyed the read. I am not a writer but like to dabble every once and a while. It was good therapy. I could go on and on about the weird things that happened during our time there, but I think I made my point. After experiencing a Trailer Park like we have, it makes watching Trailer Park Boys even funnier. I mentioned that I believe there are great Trailer Parks we just were not in one. The corporation took over the park the first year we were there. Previously the park had an excellent reputation. Privately owned Parks are much more user friendly we have learned.

Our Seasonal Trailer Park Experience

I wrote a Blog about our 4 years in a Seasonal Trailer Park. I am hoping it might help some folks avoid some of the pit falls we experienced. Threw in some Trailer Park Humor. Some language my not be suitable for younger children. Needless to say we will be going back to Towing in the near future. Our Seasonal Trailer Park Experience

RE: seasonal camping

You can read about my 4 year seasonal camping experience. We just managed to sell the trailer which took 2+years. It might help you avoid some of the problems we had. The Blog is still a work in progress because we literally just sold. Some of the language might not be suitable for children. My Seasonal Trailer Park Experience

RE: Who picks the moderators for these forums?

Were there guns on the Icebergs? That could explain it. Because the guns may float across the border. Then they would have to be checked at gun shop or buried in the woods. I mean how is that going to happen? The Iceberg wouldn't have a permit to carry the guns across the border. Unless they were long guns..... But everyone knows they love hand guns. So most likely the iceberg would simply carry the guns across the border undeclared. So instead of waiting for pro/anti iceberg argument to start the MOD closed the thread. Seems logical to me. :)

RE: It's about time... WiFi @ Canadian McD

IHOP is now offering free Wi-Fi as well. And that fool in the Class A is what gives RVers a bad name! :( Frank The guy was having a serious bad day. The starbucks manager told me he gets people all the time parking in front of the store to use the internet. Usually there are too many people in the store using WIFI that he can't turn it off. Most people aren't in a Class A blocking his drive thru. In Oakville the town has pretty much banned RV's from using parking lots. But RV's are still parking in WalMart. But are starting to wake-up to a ticket flapping under the wiper blade. Not sure what the fine is but I suspect it's the same or more than Provincial Park charges. The PP is 10 minutes from Walmart.

RE: It's about time... WiFi @ Canadian McD

What people won't do for free WIFI. There was a Class A parked in front of my Starbucks on Sunday. They were pretty much blocking the entrance to the drive thru. The manager was standing at the guys window asking him to move. The guy was screaming he was downloading some files and couldn't move till he was done. The manager went into his store and turned off the wireless hub. Then Class A guy had the nerve to come into the store and ask what was wrong with the free WIFI. When the manager explained free WIFI was for paying customers in the store the guy blew a gasket. He yelled at the manager for a minute at least. Spit was flying out of his mouth, he looked like he was going to have a heart attack. The assistant manager called the cops. The guy ran out and tried to get out of the parking lot fast. I have never seen a K turn done in Class A. He clipped two poles and almost ran into the Police Car. There were only a couple of us in the store but we were all laughing pretty hard. The cops talked to the guy for a while and let him drive off. All for free WIFI.
