I don't have one, but what I've seen is not impressive. Take a good look at the well known Side x Sides. You'll be happy you did.

RE: Coral Pink Sand Dunes for Easter

:) The trip to the dinosaur tracks is a must. They are really cool. I understand there are some petroglyphs to the south of the dunes somewhere. I will certainly work to find them this year. Additionally, I understand there is a trail that starts not too far from the dunes which goes to Carmel Junction. Round trip is about 38 miles. Sounds like a great day trip.
To answer the question about the trailer fitting in there...no problem. They have sites of various sizes...I've seen some pretty big 5r's do fine getting in there. For those who haven't visited, it is a great and very scenic place to drag the trailer and toys to.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes for Easter

Headed to Coral Pink Sand Dunes for Easter. Looking at some Side x Side forums, it looks like there are a bunch of trails to explore...lots of fun to be had. I'm stoked!!
Has anyone been there that wants to share their favorite trail?

RE: GPS

My wife gave me a Garmin Rino 530 HCx for Christmas. Great GPS that also has a powerful radio. Lots of great options built in, including if others in your party have the same radio, you are able to lock in to their location on yours if you get split up. I would highly recommend it.

Here is more dueling twins. My new rig on the left, and user "rickkern" on the right. We met up and camped down in King George, VA this past summer.

RE: Get rid of the garage for an open bay?

We have also went from the open Toyhauler to one with a garage. All previous comments are very valid...obviously both types have their pros and cons. Only you can decide what works best for you and your situation. There are certainly times when I wish I didn't have the garage, then times when I'm so glad that I do. FYI, one huge plus is privacy.

My trailer is 4 years old now...never had a problem with the smell of oil or gas either. In fact, the trailer still has a brand new smell to it.

RE: New Polaris Countdown..... And It's the RZR4 XP900

What were looking at with the XP is a cross-functional machine. If we want the best of all worlds, we would need to buy a machine for each riding condition...the rocks, sand, desert, mountains (trails and open roads), etc. While the XP is certainly not the best machine for every application, it is certainly one of the best universal machines available. With this, at $20k, it's probably a bargain.

RE: Tri-axle toy haulers: E-rated tires?

Like CWILL925, i'm also running the factory E rated China tires on my Raptor. I don't know if it makes a big difference, but my trailer is always garaged when not in use. Regardless, we hauled it more that 4k miles last year and likely more than 15k since new...no problems. The tread still looks great on all 6 tires. BTW, the tires are on 16" wheels.

RE: 2 guys and a RZR missing

I have made BAD DECISIONS and most of you have as well.
We learn from them and move on much smarter.
Unfortunately they don't get to move on as smarter from the experience. However, ALL of us can through their tragic experience. This was certainly preventable. Everyone here are family and friends in my book, use some common sense and let's not have this happen again.
My most sincere condolences to their family and friends.

RE: New Polaris Countdown..... And It's the RZR4 XP900

Drove a sweet SxS a few years back. All pimped out. Hated it! Loud. Uncomfortable. And wow how that expensive suspension sucked! Before that, wife and I thought we would eventually get one and ditch the quads. Now, if you gave me one for free, I'd still sell it and get a jeep or a buggy. PS - a 30k buggy is ten time better than a 20k SxS. Shoot - an old VW rail would probably be more fun for the $$$. Just my .02
Given where I ride, neither a Jeep or Buggy would work better than my SxS. Regardless, if your happy with your rides, I'm happy for you. My point isn't to create a spitting contest, but rather appreciate that what works for me, isn't necessarily what is best for everyone else and vice versa. This is okay...the mountains and dunes are big enough for us all.
Happy Holidays to all.

RE: New Polaris Countdown..... And It's the RZR4 XP900

Not at all saying it doesn't happen, but like previously noted, most problems were dated to 2008. Some problems still exist, but are often associated with no grease being applied on the seal of the filter and other infrequent situations. Nothing is perfect...unfortunately a few are negatively affected by this. I personally know of two engines pooched due to dirt ingestion from 2008, but none since.
BTW, I also believe Polaris will come out with an XP4. They'd be crazy not to. Seems there's lots of demand for it...hence, lots of money to be made.
Best wishes to everyone. Have a safe and Happy Holiday season.

RE: Oceano Dunes - a call to action

ACPD Meeting today!!! Friends of Oceano Dunes is there to represent our interest!!
There are "MANY" fronts we hare having to fend off/fight...and will continue to do so...
We continue to fight for "YOUR BEACH" open to all
...but remember everyone..
WE CAN NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT
visit www.oceanodunes.org to help
We post as much information on our facebook:
Causes page and Community Page...find us there for the latest information.
"MODERATOR" if I am not allowed to post/word this as I did...please feel free to delete post...my apologies
The "WE CAN NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT' is an absolutely serious statement. This and all attempts to kick the off-road community off public lands requires EVERYONE'S SUPPORT to prevent further land closures. The support for closures is great...the support to retain our rights to access public lands is just starting to build to levels that allow us to be heard. Too many people take our rights for granted...we cannot afford to do this any longer. Regardless of where you live, we need the entire off-road community to gather together and unify in number in support of each other.
I am from Utah, never ridden in California yet, but am looking forward to future opportunities to do so...specifically at Pismo. You have my support! Hopefully, our support is reciprocated between each and every one of us, regardless of our home State.
Gather together folks and lets unite in our support to stop any further land closures. At the same time, lets make sure we respect the land we ride on, keep our camping areas clean, respect wildlife, and others around us. Together we can win.

RE: My Dodge won't start.

Don't feel bad, I don't believe that Dodge is unique here. I expect this from all batteries that any manufacturer installs. I would personally look into the Diehard from Sears. I've personally had better luck with these than any other.
BTW, in the cold months you can do the battery a big favor by keeping a trickle charger on it. They will generally last far longer if they aren't allowed to go dead. Good luck to you.

RE: Interesting Read

SAD!!!! However, it seems those who want OHVs banned from the landscape do their part in speaking up...and they are heard. Unfortunately, way too many of us with OHVs do not speak up...hence, we are being kicked off the trails and roads we have enjoyed for decades.
If you don't want everything shut down, you need to speak up. We cannot take our right to ride for granted or we will lose. Get your friends to do the same. When a huge group speaks up, you are more likely to be heard.

RE: Travel trailer toyhaulers

Look at all the choices you can and get what YOU like the most and can afford....don't look back. I for one don't advocate for the biggest. Bigger isn't always better--at least not to everyone. Read around, there are plenty of people who downsize for very good personal reasons.
