RE: If you could only go to one, Glacier or Banff . . . . . .

Again both are beautiful but why not go out of the country for your vacation. I didn't see Glacier as being any better than RMNP and Trail Ridge Road only a little different, Banff seem to have more rock. Both are well worth the trip but Banff is at least in a different country.

RE: PSI for blowing out lines...?

After blowing out my lines with 60 PSI I had the kitchen tap open which I do first and last and opened a low point drain next to the air line, there was air built up in the lines. My compressor goes to 150 PSI so that high or even at 120 seals might be damaged. Next year I go back down to 45 or will leave 2 taps open.

RE: 5% credit on gas purchase

We use a Shell card with 5% off but with new cards they just give you $.05 a gallon off. Then Shell runs .05 to .10 cents a gallon more here so there is no advantage to applying now.

RE: Carlsbad Info

The first time I went alone and walked down but there were some slick wet spots on the trail so my wife and I took the elevator on my next visit. Quick and easy with no danger of slipping and falling. The entrance to the cave was more interesting than the walk down.

RE: Winterizing tip: When blowing out the lines....

If you use just air check the pump filter, I blow mine out but the pump water filter stays full.

RE: Nice place to take family over thanksgiving in CO?

Should be a campground loop open at RMNP if you don't mind a little snow, maybe a snowball fight, snowman and snowshoeing then to the Stanly for lunch.

RE: Winterizing with Saltwater???

That would be a cheap way to winterize in a mild area but I would wonder about the other things the dealer has skimped on that might cause serious problems months after you buy.

RE: Rules for Dry Camping - revisited

I set up camp in a beautiful spot about 20 feet from the edge of the Lake Powell, went out fishing and came back to find a MH camped between mine and the lake shore and their wire dog run taking up the area between the 2 MHs for their 3 little rat dogs. There are no rules for boondocking/dry camping and if people are to stupid or don't mind looking like an fool anyone can do as they please. While boondocking here in Colorado I have been asked a few times if I would mind if someone camped over 100 feet away from us in a open medow just as I would ask. No rules but common sense since they are there for the same reason we are. The best thing to do is move your camp when you run across people who don't understand why you boondock so you can enjoy the rest of the trip.

RE: Why stay in a campground when you can boondock?

Looks like DJ may not be lonely or depressed just having fun, now why do you think a guy from Idaho would be camping in the middle of a large Prairie Dog Town with no one else around for miles.

RE: DirecTV reactivation after 2 years

We canceled Direct after 12 years of service and went with Dish this spring because of this type of run around.

RE: Why stay in a campground when you can boondock?

We have stayed in a campground maybe 6 times in the last 20 years more from necessity than choice but otherwise almost always boondock. With my wife now needing medical equipment at night I thought I would need a full service campground since the generator noise and demand for fuel each night would cost as much as a campground. Some think people boondock because they are to cheap to pay for a campground but I spent over $650 for a small generator and a few additional things to stay out of campgrounds and continue to boondock.

RE: Gulp!!!

If you had been filling in the USA it might have only cost $135.00.

The boondocking forum here has more information than you could ever use, just look at the "jump to forum" top right of the screen.

RE: hydrolic jack leak

Size matters, on mine it's behind the left front tire but inside a panel behind the batteries. Where they put it depends on the length and model of the MH.

RE: USAA Insurance

Their adds showing and talking about vets are just adds, forget the USAA and look at their full name. I thought because I am a vet I might get a better quote but Progressive was less. When off the truck at home my camper is covered by home insurance but never thought to ask about coverage someplace like storage now I need to check.

RE: Do we need to rethink healthy eating

I guess if you cook everything till its dead and tasteless that might help. My wife ate a lot of cantaloupe this summer and I had lettuce at supper so only time will tell if we make it through winter. I had corn chips and a coke for breakfast, a burrito with cheese heaped high last night for supper and a big bowl of ice cream after supper tonight. My food might kill me but I enjoy it, then you hear of people 45 and 50 in great health 1 week and dead the next.

RE: ? for Okies...too cold in NE Okla to use TT at thanksgiving?

Former Okie here- No one could forecast the weather for sure but I would not worry to much about a hard freeze there that soon, a few years ago there was a bad ice storm but no tornado's. Yea!!. Then I have been there in late Nov. in shirt sleeves and no coat. Check the weather a week before your trip.

RE: Book Cliffs and San Rafael Swell Part 2

Yes thanks for sharing pictures of 1 of my favorite little used places with the 100,000 or more members plus visitors on RVNet. Truthfully if more people got out and used places like this maybe the government would not be so quick to post Wilderness Study Area signs and close roads.

RE: Are you thinking of buying a Vizio HDTV?....read this...

Sounds like almost everyone has given up on expecting quality. They say you get what you pay for but that doesn't seem true now days, more like don't spend more than you can lose and expect to lose it. Our 50 inch Sharp cost $1600 and we love it but if it had had ANY problem even under warranty that would be the last Sharp we ever bought unless they had great customer service, tring to sell you a used TV is not service.

RE: Did someone ask about hauling fresh water?

We spent several days next to the Colorado River in a camp we now refer to as Deliverance Motel, a place we would have never stay at but I needed electricity for my refrigerator that had stopped working on gas. Between the large dogs and goose droppings we were careful stepping outside. The first night after paying our money 1 of the boys came back from a small store with 2 cases of beer stacked on his ATV. After 3 days of riding the Flattops on our ATVs, drinking spring water piped to our MHs sitting next to the river and not getting bitten by the dogs we decided we might stay there again.
